That would be great, but I don't see them trading that pick, Especially not to us.

I voted no in this poll about a week ago. The Cassell trade doesn't count, as it's not significant in any possible way. Looks like I could be right. I hope I'm not.
 
Rarely do teams trade what will probably be high picks before the deadline, but that would be easier than trying to find a team willing to do this had had cap space to trade them.
 
You figure they can't move Arenas at this point, and they'll presumably want to hold on to Butler and Jamison.

Something like Etan and Darius is probably what they want to send off - $11M this year, $12M next year and $5M the following. Something like Mikki, Shelden, and Quincy would be pretty close - maybe close enough to keep us both under the tax. But factoring Mikki's $2M buyout in, that would be essentially a $15M price tag for a high lotto pick and a few benchers...and if we're reducing ourselves to siphoning off $500K to take on Cassell, I don't see it happening.

It would also almost certainly push us over the tax next year (given the contracts for the two lotto picks + Houston's) unless we dropped Brad for enders now.

I wouldn't mind, but I'd imagine that a situation like this is tailor-made for the Blazers to swoop in with Raef LaFrentz and steal another very high pick. Ugh.

Instead of KT, Salmons, Moore, Miller, and Jackson as our non future vets we have to watch these guys on the bench for 1 year: Mike James, Etan Thomas, and Tim Thomas.

That would be the big concern. If that pick is on the table we'd just have to find a way to outbid them. Take Darius, throw in the Houston pick...whatever

If Portland did it they would probably re-trade that pick for a player who contributes now, as they really don't need anymore young prospects. They have enough playing for them now plus a few guys overseas so I don't think they need the pick
 
Petrie better make a move. This will be the most fustrating kings team to watch if we have the same roster for the rest of the year. I am praying GP can move salmons and/or miller so we can just see the young guys play.
 
I keep refreshing this thread to see if anyone has heard of anything going down, but so far nothing, and im starting to get very discouraged...:cool:

Sacramento: The Kings have the most chips on the table right now, with Brad Miller, John Salmons and Mikki Moore on the table. They have also made it known the Beno Udrih and Quincy Douby could be had for pennies on the dollar. The Kings were sifting through dozens of offers yesterday, and sources close to the situation say there was nothing close, despite reports that the team might have a deal on the table with the Celtics that could return Sam Cassell in exchange for a second round draft pick. Not necessarily the move that gets the Kings into the free agent market next year, but rather a move to acquire a veteran who could help win some games down the stretch. The Kings have a ton of offers, so they look to be fairly busy on Thursday.

If nothing happens, I would hazard a guess it's because no one was willing to take our huge contracts and it's pretty obvious from the state of the economy that the Maloofs aren't going to open their wallets for anything other than a total superstud franchise player (LeBron, Dwight Howard, etc.)...

Our salary cap is prohibitive right now and I'm sure TPTB will want to get rid of as much of it as they can, especially since the players attached are simply not worth what they're receiving or will receive.

All the signs are there, including Petrie's comment to Voisin about the Cassell trade. The Kings are trying to whittle down the salary expense, not add to it.

Hoopsworld continues to amaze with the total lack of anything even remotely resembling basketball acumen.

Acquire Cassell as a "veteran who can help win games down the stretch?" Great God Naismith!!! Why would we even remotely consider winning games down the stretch?????

NoBonus - All he said was that the Cassell acquisition was merely a monetary deal or something to that effect. I read it somewhere a while ago...

Sources are telling nbrans that Sacramento remains in talks with the New York Knicks regarding Brad Miller, although discussions seem to have hit a standstill as New York is reluctant to part with Stephon Marbury's expiring contract and Sacramento is hesitant to take on the extra year in Jerome James' deal, feeling they can get a better deal in the offseason. nbrans' sources tell him the Kings remain open to a deadline deal and their plans to move players like John Salmons and Beno Udrih for expiring contracts hinge on finding a taker for Brad Miller in order to build cap room fro 2009, but sources tell him that's an increasingly remote possibility as teams are lukewarm about absorbing Miller's salary.

I could make millions.
