And he can dunk from just about the FT line with a knee on the mend! I think getting rid of Brockness would be a mistake because of the rapport and the effort you just mentioned Sir Brick.
You mean Jordan Hill?
did someone say Patterson and BROCKNESS together on the floor? I don't see how they could loose when every rebound is gathered by the team in purple. Scrappy, scary, talented. I don't see wall as the best player in this draft, he is projected to be in the NBA for a long time and have a great chance of being a superstar, but Patterson just reminds me too much of Barkley to not consider him with whatever pick we get. Remember Patterson IS better than Cousins, and arguably better than wall. Wall is a pg is a smallforwards body, so that kind of stuff tends to make GM's salivate. But Pat PAT is the most NBA ready and will crack any teams rotation no matter how talented. There is something to be said for that kind of raw aggression, and you can't learn it.
Please, please, I BEG YOU, try to let facts get in the way of your ramblings. Johnson is 22, and will be 23 as a rookie (assuming that he declares for the draft as expected).
Words will be eaten. And Patterson is the person who will prove who eats them. Baja, i appreciate the healthy cynicism, but look at my track record when it comes to talent evaluation. I'm not sure if you can, because some of it isn't on this board. But, i will try to be as forthcoming with my escapades. i was on the tyreke train since 2008, followed the memphis thing and i was PRAYING that Memphis took thabeet so we could have Tyreke/Hardin. Back before Pitt made the final four, i had a whole college dorm LAUGHING on a daily basis because i though Dejuan Blair was a lottery player. LAUGHING like i made a funny joke. Now, they don't laugh about my evaluation. Next year, arkansas will make the NCAA tourney and Courtney Fortson will be on people radar, but that is for next year. I didn't like 2008 draft, but i didn't dislike our 1st round picks, so i can't claim foresight there. 2007, I was all over Al Thorton, i wish i could say i was thinking about thaddeus young, but Thorton was my pick. Thaddeus young is dam good tho. 2006, i was Rondo this Rondo that. i won't even go into 2005 because it becomes less and less believable. 2004, Varajoe. 2003, Marquis Daniels. Look, if i had it my way, our team might look like Rondo/Tyreke/Thorton/Thompson/Blair.....or not. Im saying that I pick at a freaking 100% clip bajaden, if you believe me. I just want you to remember how you feel next year, when he is playing in that rookie/sophmore game, starting, and getting the same trophy tyreke got this year.
I appreciate the offer, but i wont be in town, i will be on the east coast. you must be a lawyer because you settle arguments with great ease. I can't disagree with you, once again.
I like Patterson too. Really, I think he's one of the safest picks on the board. He's going to bring it every night. He may not have a ceiling as high as some of the other guys, but he doesn't have as many risks either. Patterson is the pick that's going to allow a GM to sleep at night. Some of these other picks will require ingesting a few Tums before rolling the dice.
If Patterson were an inch or two taller, he'd probably be higher on the draft boards. If he can measure out at 6'9" in shoes at the combine, then I think his draft stock could go up. Especially combined with good team workouts. As it is, he's limited potentially because of his size, and because of no huge advancement in his game from year to year. Although in fairness, Cousins being added to the team definitely affected Pattersons rebounding and scoring. He did add a jumpshot to his offense.
If you compare him to Udoh, they are very similar in scoring results with Udoh at 13.9 PPG, and Patterson at 14.3 PPG. In rebounding Udoh has the edge with 9.8 RPG to 7.4 RPG. But Patterson did have to compete with Cousins for rebounds. In fairness Udoh had to compete with Josh Lomers and Anthony Jones for rebounds. But the two of them together didn't rebound as well as Cousins. The biggest difference between them is in size and in blocking shots. Patterson blocked 1.3 shots a game, while Udoh blocked 3.7 shots a game. Athletic wise, they're both very athletic bigs. I would give the edge to Patterson when it comes to playing physical. But I think Udoh is a better ballhandler and passer.
Mostly I like Patterson for the same reason I like Damion James. There are times when you swear that there's more than one of him on the floor. Actually James is just a slightly shorter version of Patterson with more skills. Ahhh, too many favorites and not enough picks...
Ahhh, too many favorites and not enough picks...
Baylor's Udoh and his weakness that really stand out to me ".. Does not finish plays through contact." i read this and in the NBA today its not if you can finish, its how you can finish after contact. Udoh is a project. I would rather not have him because the kings need more than defense, we need players who do it all.
It sure would be nice to have an exta pick. Then you could roll the dice on one of these high ceiling/high risk kind of guys.
Lets hope and pray for another pick. Something in the 15 to 20 range would be ideal... Hell, I'll be happy if we can aquire another high 2nd round pick. Minny has three 1sts and three 2nd's. Maybe they'll feel sorry for us and deal one.
Unfortunately, it's not in Petrie's lexicon. If anything, it seems like he likes to unload those second round picks. He makes piddly little deals on draft day, not blockbusters.
I could easily see this to be the year where other teams holding their individual pick in the teens would trade it for very little because of the negatives/risks associated with the pick. But this is a classic case in which an individual pick could look very risky and low value, but multiple picks held by one team could yield significant value because you're lessening the overall risk to your "portfolio". The whole could be much greater than the sum of its parts.
We need to figure out who on the team is going to help us win more games than we loose. Tyreke and Green and Landry and Thompson and Garcia are people we are keeping for next year. Hawes plays well in bursts, and Omri is still young. But, Lets look at this objectively, Not all those 7 players are going to help us win consistently. Landry and Tyreke are our biggest weapons. That is not good. We need another weapon, flat out need another weapon. Udoh, not really a weapon on offense. If Landry is our PF, and Tyreke is our lead G, we need a weapon in the middle or on the wing. I like Patrick because he is a slashing SF-PF.
Ed Davis just declared
I like Davis much more than I like Aldrich because he has a much bigger upside
reminds me of Horace Grant if he can add on 20 lbs
I'm on the Aldrich wagon, too. Enough so that I think we should trade down for him if necessary, with the intent on throwing bank at Bosh. Core would be two twenty plus guys in Bosh and Reke with Aldrich manning the Five. Mix and match on the wings with defenders and shooters and we'd be contending.
This all depends on whether the powers that be feel they can make a legit offer to Bosh.
I'm not a real big fan of Davis. That may put me in the minority, but he just didn't wow me. He's not a very good ballhandler or passer, and the dude is skinny. I've admitted that I could be wrong about him, but right now there's now way I take a 6'9", 210 pound PF, over a 6'11", 265 pound center. I definitely take 6'10", 255 pound Udoh over him. The only thing he has going for him over Udoh is that he's younger.
Sorry, but there is 0% chance Bosh is coming to Sacramento. We really need to move on from that pipe dream.
Pretty sure Bosh is going to haul in more cash than the Kings can throw at him.Hopefully Petrie and the Maloofs' don't share this mindset. Bosh is a FA and we have money. Throw your best offer out there and hope for the best.

More than he's worth IMHO.
