[Game] Celtics @ Kings - 12/30/12

I'm beginning to have thoughts like we shouldn't fire Smart. Should I feel ashamed or just plain stupid?
See, this is the trap that the lakers almost fell into. I remember it being said that they fired Mike Brown when they did, because they looked at their schedule (which included the game where they beat us), and they were afraid that they would win just enough to keep Brown's job. I find myself fearful that we may do the same to Keith Smart.

Neither. We wanted a coach who could get the job done and get our guys playing like a team. If Smart can do it, more power to him. Today is a good day. 49ers win their division and Kings beat the Celtics, with DMC getting his first triple-double. Great way to end 2012.

:)

Woo. Epic Team Game. Congrats on Big Cuz on his first career triple-double. 2 Game Winning Streak baby. If they keep playing like this, especially with their upcoming schedule, i see good things

Yeah it's really hard. Did you even pay attention when they called his 5th foul? Keep drinking the Kool-Aid!

You are watching every move DMC makes under a very critical microscope. Is he not allowed to show any kind of emotion at all? He played his game and he did his job without a lot of the drama that has been part and parcel of both too many times. Cut the kid a break or at least be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's a passionate player, much like Webber in his early days.

This is what bothers me so much about some fans who dislike a certain player. Is there a rule books somewhere that says you have to always criticize and demean, even when there's no substance to what you're saying?

Last time a super talented big man had a triple double for the Kings....he was traded the next day.

Dang Webber did have one before he was traded? What a travesty.

Good game all around though by the Kings. Thomas played one hell of a game and actually played well with Cousins letting the big man do what he does well in distribute and get others involved. It's a good gameplan.

this sure makes me wonder just what the heck goes through coach Smarts mind. takes Isaiah out of the starting lineup, then shuffles him to the end of the rotation where he doesn't even get on the floor on some nights, now back in the starting lineup and proving that Smart should have left him there all along.

I thought it was the day before. I was wrong it was a week or so removed. He had 3 TD that month though.

Some nice shooting tonight and Isaiah played great. Looking back at December we were almost a .500 team, 7-8. We are playing much better at home and need to find some sort of rhythm on the road with some very winnable games coming up at Detroit, Cleveland, Toronto and even Brooklyn. (who hasn't been playing great, though they are 2-0 since firing Avery). I've been a Kings fan for too long to get my hopes too high, but if we could string together a couple road wins, it could go a long way with this team coming back for a pretty tough 5 game home stand. Go Kings!

They are starting to look like a well coached team. The roles appear defined. They are unselfish. They move the ball, space the floor, and look like they know what they are doing out there. Doesn't mean they are headed to the playoffs anytime soon. They don't have the talent to do that. But, wow, it's sure a huge difference from the early part of the season.

Johnson is much improved from the beginning of the year. Thank you, Mr. English.
Jimmer is much improved from last year.
Cousins has found his passing game that we saw in his first season of summer league; he is soooooooo much better if he doesn't force things.
IT looks a lot more comfortable than the beginning of the year and looks to be his old very good self from last year.
Thompson is now Mr. Consistency (who woulda thunk?) and is playing the best D of his career.
Salmons is playing like he is in fact a good veteran player. Was the dreaded Salmons-Jimmer deal really a good one?

Who knows how it's going to go with this team from here on out. But when you see the last few games there is no doubt they have the capability of playing good basketball.

I'm sure you're gonna catch some flak over this, but I agree with what you've said. Tonight against the Boston Celtics the Kings looked like a TEAM. And it made it possible for them to win.

:)

I have yet to watch the game will so once I can find a d/l for it but I said at the start of the game @home I EXPECTED us to win this one against the Celtics because we matched up well with them and we are a more atheltic/explosive team

Really proud of the Team effort tonight. These guys are really buying into a team concept and playing for each other as opposed for their own numbers.

IT is showing he deserves to run this team as the starting PG. As he should have been all along

I liked his game tonight but am still not sure I'm ready to hand the team over to him again. He took the most shots on the team tonight which worked since he was on fire but it's not what we really need out of a point. Now if he can stay hot and continue to look for teammates (even with hockey assists), great. If we go back to him just gunning, less great.

But tonight was a good one.

He was. He lost the spot by playing selfishly while the team played like dirt. He left, we played better.

But we're at a different point now. In particular without Reke and Thornton all the mini-chuckers suddenly have shots available. Without directly comparing two different players, its the Iverson theory -- if other big offensive options are out there they are going to struggle if the little guy with the ball instictively looks for himself. Its not just a Reke thing. But if those other options aren't out there than you NEED a guy who looks for himself. IT was the right guy for this moment, regardless of whether he fits when the big guns get back.

That BTW only slightly applies to this game, as the threes were mostly spotups (good) ratehr than off dribble (bad), and the Celtics lane kept parting lie the Red Sea. I don't care what your role, you gotta take advantage of that. But to try to pretend that is the way its always worked is just silly.

What's this team's record now without Tyreke in the lineup?

I was wondering when someone would ask this... I'm too lazy to look it up but I'm sure someone will answer your question. Nice to see you around, Schmoe. :)
