Good game indeed for Casspi, although it always feels like he can do so much better if he didn't try too hard. He tried to force things a bit too much in the first half, but it did pay off with an excellent second half from him on both ends.

BTW, great overall performance by the entire team, both individually and in terms of team work. I think this was the first time I was actually impressed by the Israeli national team..

Aren't you guys undefeated to this point? And so have you automatically qualified for next summer yet?

They are undefeated, and therefore currently in first place among the teams in their division, but I'm pretty sure they have to complete the entire round of games [the last one is on the 29th of August] before they can qualify. After the last game, the top two teams [out of Israel, Latvia, Italy, Montenegro, and Finland] will automatically qualify for the Eurobasket in 2011, and the remaining teams have to compete for a spot.

We are undefeated. but only the 1st place gonna qulifie for the Next Summer comptetion (which is the EuroBasket2011 in Lithunia).
The 2nd place might qualifie either only if they got the most of the points from all of the 2nd places.

anywayz, Toamrrow Israel gonna play in Finland AWAY. and in Saturday the battle on the 1st place in Israel. Israel Vs Montenegro. This is going to be intresting till the last second.

Israel lost 84:83 to Finland. Omri Casspi finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 turnovers.

sc3252- his name is Tal Burstein from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Had a terrible game.

Israel in AMAZING home win on Montenegro 77-73, Casspi with 30 POINTS!!! in hes best game in hes career.
Israel is back to the first place.
Its the FIRST lose of Montengro EVER since they are playin only from 2006.

absolutely amazing game by Israel, and especially Casspi: 30 points (5/12 FG, 4/7 3PT, 8/10 FT), 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks.

That is awesome. Counting down until someone comments on the 4 rebounds... and he wants to be our starting SF...

its kinda hard to grab a lot of rebounds againts players like pekovic[next year he will play for minnesota]and vranes[7-6\2.29],the best rebounders in that game for israel were eliyahu and bluthenthal with 5 each one.
casspi stat so far:

PPG 19.3
RPG 5.3
APG 1.3

G Min 2P FG 3P FG FT Reb As PF TO St Bs Pts Avg
4 29.8 15/34 10/21 17/22 5.3 1.3 3.5 2.0 1.5 1.0 77 19.3

4 rebounds?

Far from impressive, but we can probably count on 25 rebounds from our starting bigs, and our backups aren't much worse. I want generally consistent and balanced play from our starting SF; to be a deal killer a single flaw would have to be BIG, like "defends a lot worse than Kevin Martin," or "scores 9 points a game on 27% shooting." Rebounding alone ain't gonna do it.

Omri's problems last year were very typical of NBA rookies. I'm sure that, IF he has the same dedication to the NBA franchise as to the national team, he can give Donte a run for his money, and I think that would be a very good thing. I'm not trying to predict whether he will do that or not, but I'm very sure that he can if he truly wants to.

Far from impressive? it's 4 rebounds against a team with this roster:
Predrag Drobnjak: 6'11''
Nikola Pekovic: 6'11''
Slavko Vranes: 7'6''
vladimir golubovic: 7'0''
Vladimir Dasic: 6'10''
Milko Bjelica: 6'9''
Vladimir Dragicevic: 6'9''

Israel lost 81:76 to Itlay at home. Big disappointment in Israel. Casspi finished with 20 points (4/8 2PT, 1/6 3PT, 9/12 FT), 10 rebounds, 3 assists.

Btw, JT came to Israel and attended the game yesterday.

Here's a small interview with him during the halftime.

well, I think he was pretty scared when that elephant went after him, he panicked, threw the chair and hit the wrong man

all this was caused by pathetic refereeing in a "friendly" match practicing for the WC. Those three morons made a honest man out of Bavetta

Wouldn't be suprised if the refs were all from Europe.

All those who follows the Euroleague knows these guys are clowns of the highest order.

And yea pounding at baby-shaq was a bad idea :D he didn't quite feel him only after like 5-6 seconds, but then he just stood up and made poor Kristic run for his life :D

By the way, this "elephant" is Sofoklis Schortsanitis. His nickname is "Baby Shaq" (I think you understand why) and he recently signed in the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Yeah, he came over here to try his luck in summer league this year after tearing up the greek leagues for a few years, and didn't look very good. Too short/heavy to have any explosiveness and couldn't bully guys even in summer league, so thought he'd be headed back to Europe somewhere.
