I know people are saying it was an iffy win and it was for sure. But even if the wolves aren't very good it says how far our team has come that we're not super happy about a win (nor was Malone it seems) because we're expected to win even on the road.
A couple of plays different and the Kings are at the top of the standings. The ball movement is looking way better. Malone just has to work with Gay on the isn't and we need our bench to play way better than they have been. If that means shortening the rotation then so be it.
That is something that winning teams have in common. One of the things I loved about Coach Sloan (and Popovich now) is that the win or loss was secondary to how the team played in getting there. A great team effort that results in a loss to superior opponent play (it's rare but does happen) would earn praise for the team effort. Sloppy play in a win would result in ladders in practice the next game if you played for Coach Sloan. If he was really pissed, you didn't get to shower after the game. You had to go straight to the stationary bikes and ride ten miles.
It is nice to see thinking in that same vein from Malone.
