Carmello to the Kings?

Ive been thinking about this for a few days now .. and depending on the price, I dont see why not. What would I give up for him? hard to say .. Deffinetly going to have to part ways with one or both of Greene or Casspi, Im thinking Denver will probly want Omri. Would it take Demarcus? I dont know. I would put him in the deal if it was for an extended Melo. And I have no problem giving up a first rounder or two, because WITH melo that pick is likely in the 20's anyways. Hard to guage what the asking price would be .. If Melo wants out, like he somewhat said to the public then the price shouldnt be too high. Im sure a team can put together a deal better than Omri and 2 1st round picks .. Omri, Whiteside and the picks? Omri, Landry and the picks?

Its interesting though. And while Im sure Melo doesnt want to come to Sac, Im also sure Denver would LOVE to trade him here. Were lucky we have assets. Young, cheap assets that teams want, and its nice to see that the FO has the same vision most fans do - Go for the best players in the league or dont sign anyone. Cant waste this capspace on Roleplayers.

No no on including Demarcus.

You dont think it would be worth it for a Extended Carmelo? ( like I said in my post, only way I would put up DMC is with an extension on Melo )

I love Cousins, and like most fans I wanted him on draft day, was very happy when we drafted him yadda yadda yadda..

BUT the red flags are still there. He's not a sure thing. And even if DMC reaches his full potential, what is that exactly? I know its hard to say .. better passing Al Jefferson? They both look equally as bad on Defense .. and im not saying he cant exceed that projection, but I think most here would be happy if thats who he became ( maybe lower BBIQ Gasol? )

Now Carmelo - Hes a top 5 player in this league. And still young enough to be good for a long time.

If the deal was for Carmelo as is, on a one year rental then yea, there is no way I trade Cousins for that, but if we can lock him up, which I know is unlikely .. I still think you have to make that move.

Carmelo is not a Top 5 player in the league. I'm not sure if he's a top 10 player in the league. Off the top of my head Bron, Wade, Kobe, Dwight, CP3, Durant, Dirk are all shoe ins. And frankly Tyreke will be. Then we get down to a level where there's at least debates. Melo's just a scorer as a rule, not a true franchise player. And he's working in an inflated stats system too. Discussion would be different if we were talking LeBron.

I would be worried enough about Melo coming in with Reke and Cousins and interfering with their natural development and the natural development of this team into being their team. But I certainly could not advocate giving up one of those guys to get him -- Melo isn't going to carry you to a title, he's going to have to be carried.

For once I agree with Brick. Melo is way over rated. He's not even a top 15 player. Since most agree he's basically an offensive player he really only gets his points because of the volume of shots. Lets throw out everyones favorite stat PER. Melo was 13th in PER last year and David Lee was just .01 behind him. And it's not like he's the only good player on the team they have Billups and Nene. They have still only been out of the first round once and they had the home court 3 times.

I think you may be underestimating how good Cousins can be. I think he has the potential to be one of the top 3 centers in the league in 3 years. It will all depend upon how hard he is willing to work on his conditioning. He has already shown the ability to learn the game very quickly, so I have no doubt that he will become a much better defensive player than we saw in the Summer League (experience alone would make him better).

As for Melo, I think he is a star in this league, but not a superstar. IMO, a superstar is a player that makes his teammates better AND can carry them on his back when needed. I have never really seen much of either from Melo (except in college). He can score a lot of points and grab rebounds, but the truth is that Denver didn't become a contender until Billups arrived and took over the leadership of the team. That tells me that a lot about Melo.

How about that, all three of us in agreement at one time. As I stated in an earlier post, Melo is a volume shooter that has a 31% usage rate when on the floor. For those that don't understand that, it means he dominates the ball. If I'm trading Cousins, along with another player, plus picks, I better be getting Durant back in the deal. I'm not sure I'm willing to trade Landry, Casspi and a first round pick for Anthony, much less Cousins.

I'd do it for virtually any package not including DMC and Reke, and including the extension.

I think championships are won mostly on two things, defense and unstoppable offensive players. Stop the other team and be unstoppable on offense. We'd have three virtually unguardable players who could take over any playoff game.

Getting Carmelo to be the designated scorer would let Reke be less of the go-to guy and more of a do-everything superstar. He could average 22 ppg, 7rpg, 8apg and be a phenomenal defender.

I just like the symmetry. Your best three players are the 1, the 3 and the 5. There's definitely a bit of a "only one ball" problem here but they don't occupy the same space on the floor. They don't need to just stand around while one player does his thing.

I don't know if Carmelo is a superstar, but I do think he's a winner. I see a lot of parallels between him and a guy like Paul Pierce. Their careers had some major ups and downs, but I never questioned their talent or whether winning was important to them.

I doubt it would be a straight line to success with these guys and I'm not sure how it would sort itself out in terms of leadership and alpha-dog and this or that. But this is the type of chance you take. I just can't picture a scenario where we get another player as good as Carmelo Anthony.

According to Jon Rothstein of MSG Network (via Twitter):

http://twitter.com/jonrothstein

"But New Jersey's offer of Devin Harris, Derek Favors and draft picks may still give the Nuggets the best pieces in return for Anthony.

The Nuggets have had discussions with the Bulls that center around Luol Deng and Taj Gibson.

The Warriors may offer Stephen Curry, Andris Biedrins and draft picks but are not sure that they will make Curry available.

The Clippers are called a long shot with Chris Kaman and Eric Gordon the likely two targets whom Denver would look to acquire."

The Nets will not trade Brook Lopez (I don't blame them) so their offer of Harris, Favors and draft picks looks to be a solid deal for Denver. I don't understand why this deal is not a done deal other than Denver asking for too much or just messing with Carmelo's head in saying "we can trade you to teams worse than us last season."

It's also interesting to note that the Kings and TWolves have the two lowest team salaries in the NBA but the Nets are at 19th overall. Guess who is just ahead of the Kings and TWolves. Yup, the Knicks.

As for the other rumored trade deals, there's no way the Warriors trade Curry. The Bulls deal is laughable and the Clippers would be dumb to include their starting C in Kaman.

As for our Kings, I don't want to see them trade Landry and Dalembert. I think I could live with JT, Casspi and a 1st rounder but if I'm Denver I'd take the Nets offer.

According to Bleacher Report, Carmelo sold his home.

However, according to Zillow the home was listed on June 18, 2010 and is still for sale.

You can also see the listing for it.

If I bought the home it would cost me $50,000 per month (thanks to a 15% down payment of $1,425,000). It's a beautiful home and even if I made the kind of money he did, it's too much home for me.

At any rate it looks like another sign that he wants out of Denver.

i think carmelo wouldent want to come to the kings
so thats kind of the end of the deal >.>
probbly trade in new jersey
BTW i think i trade for him would destroy the team unless we trade evans
which i would rather not to because these are 2 players with the ball in there hands
most of the time so unless you can play with 2 balls this dosent fit

Exactly, most of us know he doesn't want to be here, he prefers BIG market teams, unfortunate for him we are not that..let him go where he desires and try his luck in the Eastern Conference with all those powerhouses
