Bulls, future dynasty?

The Bulls are looking amazing now, and have picked up Wallace. They now have a great lineup with Heinrich/Gordon/Thomas/Chandler/Wallace. With the 07 Knicks Draft pick, they could end up with Kevin Durant (Think taller McGrady or a KG with 3 point shooting) or Greg Oden (Dominant center). I think this team has the potential to become champions in the next few years, and Paxson is doing a GREAT job. What do you guys think?

Right now, they have no offense in the front-court but hustle points. Ty Thomas might have a jumper, but how good is it? The wing players are their offense.

Getting Oden would be huge, too, but that depends on the Knicks and whether the Bulls do want to switch with them. Which I assume they would.

Damn good defensively though. I like them even more

I think the rumored chandler for PJ/JR smith trade would help them, since chandler is like a mini-ben and would give them cap room in the 2007 offseason. If they keep making the right moves and if thomas develops and hinrich and gordon keep improving, then they could be in the finals in 2008 (and also a deep playoff push next year)

Still would need to get inside offense from the front-court... so Ty Thomas would need to develop that and is raw offensively right now.

Im not sure about a dynasty, but they are MUCH better than they were last season. A deep playoff push is not of the question anymore--now its almost expected...

Ben Wallace is an upgrade over Tyson Chandler. He isn't a huge upgrade and he isn't a slight upgrade. With this move, they will probably get out of the first round. After that, probably not. Dynasty, definitley not.

KG is probably out of the question now. Chandler would or at least should've been involved with those talks.

They don't have the cap or contracts to make it work without him.

That means we're still in the running for KG. I know you can do it Geoff :)

I say that but I have a stinking feeling all we'll end up with is Stro Smith. :(

As far as the front court, watch Stro and Kenny fight over who starts, while Reef plays good citizen, and Miller mumbles about how it doesn't matter who starts.

i don't know if tyrus thomas is ready to play the starting role. i know how good he is, i watched him in the tourney, but i don't think this is a dynasty team and doesn't really have the players to contend for a title.

He sucks so bad you can't even get his name right:D . But yeah I agree with you, Stro Swift is awful and I hope we don't get him. I wish Geoff would do something, to be honest I'm getting jealous seeing "____ signs with the _____ ____ for _____ dollars and ____ years." Or the "_____has been traded to the _____ for ____." It seems like everyone is getting better but us. I wish Geoff would make a block busting move for someone like KG.

It's only 3 days into it, and everyone's panicking, Petrie's not and won't. Still early days, and there are still FAs available, and of course trades. Where Petrie does most of his work.

We just need to fix the front-court with a couple defensive bigs or get KG. Solve Bonzi. Back-up PG? Who knows, that'll be determined by us not signign a quality back-up PG or someone saying Douby will be backing up Bibby. As now, it's just "occasionally spelling Bibby". Getting a vet. PG somewhere on the roster as a third man would be nice.

Kinda like asking what if the Mavs don't make the playoffs. Not even worth worrying about now. They be in.

Things could happen, lol. Look at houston they were a sure lock to make the playoffs last year, they were even considered contenders lol. But when T-Mac and Yao got injurd they were done.

The Bulls biggest need is STILL a reliable post scorer! They need one so bad it's sickening, they are still a perimeter oriented team. They basically just got a better version of Tyson Chandler at twice the price.

Thats what i am saying. We could have gave them sar and exp contracts for Chandler. And that way we fill a need and they feel a need, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! they just wanted that cap space, lol.

Why would Thomas start over either Deng OR Nocioni?

An embarrassment of riches. Is any team deeper at the SF spot then Chicago?

Indeed -- that is considerably frustrating. There are reasons to go with the PJ Brown deal (leadership, experience, length), but damnit, SAR and one of our enders might have ended up helping both squads. Cheap starting post player for the Bulls, and enders to provide them with enough cap room to go ahead and resign Heinrich next year.

I think the Bulls are going to be paper tigers. I don't think adding Ben is going to make them THAT much better than when they had Chandler, except maybe from a confidence standpoint. They're still going to struggle to score points.

Agreed ^. I'm gonna like them more, but, it's all hustle points right now in the front-court. Rest of it will come from their guards and wings (Gordon/Hinrich/Deng/Nocioni), and some from 6'8" Mike Sweetney off the bench. Also still have a hole at the two-guard unless Sefolosha is a good shooter (read his shot isn't really that good yet/inconsistent). I think he can be a good two-way player though. Or else it's Hinrich and Gordon again, which is quite good, but lacks much size.

I hope not, they sort of had a pretty good shot at the whole "dynasty" thing. I think it was called the 90's or something.
