Brick by Brick - SIGN ME UP!

To raise $10 million, they'd need to sell a million bricks. Interesting... I'm sure they'd have "special bricks" at higher prices, but how much space would 1 million bricks take up?

Assuming a standard 8" by 4" dimension for a brick in the US, that is 0.222 square feet per brick. Say 0.25 with a little grout. So, about 250,000 square feet. That would be a plaza 500 ft by 500 ft in dimension. Roughly.

I'm sure you will keep us informed. Some of us have a lot invested in the Kings and if this helps keep the team here, I can't see people being shy about buying bricks unless the finances don't work. As far as I'm concerned, there's not much around this town to get excited about and I don't want this part of us to go away.

I'll do my best to keep everyone informed but business is about to pick up for me at work in February so I'll be limited.

Mike has busted his arse as have others but all I've got to contribute is money and will do what I can. I don't get around well but it would be a thrill to put my foot on my own name.

Thank you for acknowledging what I have tried to do. I have invested a lot of time and money into trying to do my part, although I just play a small role.

But what I really need is for as many people to show up to city hall on Feb 14. I know some can't make it for their own reasons but if you know someone who can that would be great and have them contact me. They don't need to be a Kings fan either. Some of my students attended the Jan 17th meeting and they're not Kings fans. They just want to see a new downtown arena for things that are "Bigger Than Basketball."

Oh I totally trust you about the Maloofs and Q&R, not surprised at all by that. I was also referring to the ill fated council meeting I believe it was in like
2004 or something where Cohn said 'we'll pay half and YOU pay half!' As Joe and Gavin promptly stormed out of the chambers...I think Fargo had somerhing to do with that and a lot of other quelling of arena dealings. Fargo is and always will be a NIMBY. Anyway...I doubt we could count on seeing any of their names on any bricks in support of this. :D

I know exactly what you're talking about.

I wouldn't mind buying a brick with her name on it. :-)

Funny thing is the half would have been around the same cost as the current arena deal.

A million bricks would require 50% of the population of the entire Sacramento metro area to buy one. So I'm guessing they're gonna be more than $10. :)

Nah, at $10 a brick I would buy a half dozen alone and put several names on them, or, if an option, make a shared image/message that spans them all.
