Baron Davis opting out?

I have been digging around and heard rumors that Davis and Nellie might be at odds with eachother and Baron might not be in the future plans of the Warriors. I bealive Baron has a PO next year if he Opts out what better way to fill our 1 spot needs.

I'd do it in a second. But if he did opt out I do not see how anybody, let alone us, could afford him. You would have to work a sign and trade, and I suspect the liklihood of the Warriors signing and trading Baron Davis to their self-appointed NorCal rivals would be almsot nil.

If he and Arenas both opt out thouogh, would certinaly give me real pause if I were the Kings GM. Generally I am in favor of just signing Beno back and calling ti a good enough patch until things are resolved at that position, but if guys of the caliber of Baron and Arenas are actaully out there plans could change.

I wouldnt mind B-Diddy coming to the Kings, even with his injury issues.

Would rather not have Gilbert 'I score 50 pts on 50 shots' Arenas on the Kings though.

I couldn't agree more, injury prone and all. He's a player that makes a difference on the floor. But your right, I can't see the Warriors trading him to us, and If so, for who. Miller certainly wouldn't fit Nellie's scheme. Maybe for Artest, and some fill, if he doesn't opt out. I just don't see it happening. I'll go light some candle's..

All it takes a buy out of SAR And KT for cap space...

Unfortunately, no. In a buyout, the best teams usually manage to do is to talk the player out of maybe 30% of what they're owed. In the case of SAR + KT, that's .3 * $13M = about $4M a year in savings. Something tells me Baron Davis won't sign with us for that.

Of course not it would take shedding Miller and Salmons like i mentioned before. Nellie would take miller he brought in rebounders while he was in Dallas and Miller could fit in well if they stop living and dying by the 3 ball.

I honestly don't think Nellie would want Miller. He likes to run up and down the floor and hates the halfcourt game. Hey, I would do the trade, I just don't think he would.

Your right i ment to say and not or. Thankfully we have the typo police around.

That is actually a pretty big typo that you really cannot blame someone else for reading correctly. Anyways, it has been spelled out how it will not work. Actually, why would SAR take any less than what he is owed? It is not like he can go out and get another contract. The same could almost be said for KT, who has not really played at all this season. The only thing buying them out will do is get them off the roster, which is fine by me. It will not make room to sign any stars.

I am all for bringing Davis to Sac for Miller, and Salmons. This would mean we keep Artest, and have Garcia coming off the bench.

I don't know 30 years old and this is the first full season he played in 6 years.
that's how i feel. and it'd be long term too. no thanks

plus there's no way its done feasibly. We'd HAVE to send them Artest and probably Douby, but we'd have to get them to take K9 or Miller, which they won't do. Why would Nelly want either of them in his system?

Like I've said already, our best bet (if the Dubs resign Baron) is to trade them Artest and Douby for Wright and Harrington. That gives us our young stud PF, and an expiring, gets rid of the crazy man, and puts Douby in a good spot. Salmons gets to start which helps him play well, and we have a good young core to build around as the crap contracts go away.

Actually IIRC this was proven wrong a few days ago. They do save you money. It's in Larry Coon's FAQ thing on rgm or somewhere.

The contract will stay count against your cap numbers the same, what you actually have to pay and when you have to pay it is different. However, it won't change your cap space over the duration of the contract or else you'd see a ton of teams buy out contracts all the time for cap space.

No that's not how it works. The numbers change, the problem is players value their millions. What the team pays the player is averaged out over the remaining years of the contract. So if a guy makes 7 mill for 3 years, and you pay him 18 million in the buy out, he gets 6 instead. Trust me on this one or you can go look it up for yourself.

For a player like B. Davis the Kings would probably have to attach their 1st round pick to Miller and Salmons for Golden State to even consider the trade.

yea, I looked it up. You're right, but still doesn't make a whole lot of difference than what I was suggesting. The point is Buyouts rarely ever give you any significant cap space. Also, we're not getting Baron Davis.
