Artest WILL be traded

I've never really been one who was that concerned with the whole "no trades in the same conference" paradigm. There's only one team in the entire league I don't want to see the Kings trade with; the only team that I couldn't stand it if they won a championship.

What about trade Artest+ Miller trade to Miami for Marion? We can receive superstar, that we luck all time from C-Webb trade. It's clear that next season we can make in a best case only 3 in division. With or without Ron-ron. At least Spens and Thompson will receive playing time.
From other side Miami after draft Beasley much more need in SF and C, and stay only decent PG before can make a run with Artest and Brad.

Giving up way too much. I for one never considered Marion a superstar. I think he's a very good basketball player, and a wonderful player to have on your team because of his flexability. But on July the 5th he's going to be 30 yrs old. He's still a good player, but he's looking downhill now, and I don't know how far it is to the bottom of the hill.

I think it's not a bad idea actually. Marion is a big expiring contract, nothing more. Take Miller's contract off the cap (and SAR's if he retires) and we could make a run at Carlos Boozer next offseason while possibly still having room in 2010.

Artest and Miller for Marion and Dorell Wright is a pretty solid deal, and meanwhile, Wade/Artest/Beasley/Miller is a pretty tough combo. Wouldn't be my dream of a front line, but there's very little risk for the Heat since Artest is an expiring and Miller expires in 2010.

That, and I cringe each time I see a shot from more than 8 ft. out. I think he owns the distinction of ugliest shot in the NBA.

I don't think Miami takes on Miller's contract because they plan to go after Boozer next year.

After this past season I have renewed hope of moving Brad for something of actual value, so would not generally be interested in basically a salary dump move. Much rather go the Lakers route and dump KT (who truly is unmoveable) with Artest in exchange for Odom's ender.

I hate to break it to you but that lakers deal is not going to happen.

I've never been a fan of trading two starters for one and then at the end of one year, we have nothing but cap space to show for it. I think we have to get something of value in return, and please don't tell me Dorell Wright. He has yet to prove anything in the league. I much rather go with the trade Bricky proposed. At least that way we get rid of real dead weight in K. Thomas. And don't tell me it couldn't happen. If the Lakers truely believe that Artest is the final piece to win them a championship, trust me, they'll make the trade. I mean, thats what its all about, isn't it? I don't see any flags flying around in Arco that say champions on them.

Gotta agree with you on this one. Marion's shot is one of the ugliest in the NBA. Thing is, he makes it more often than one would think.

Correction: It is THEE ugliest shot in the NBA. And yeah I don't know how he manages to make so many shots like that. Whatever works i guess

*cough*2002*cough*

How about this trade with the Clippers?

Clippers incomming: Ron Artest

Clippers outgoing: Al Thornton, Tim Thomas, and 2009 1st round draft pick (probably lottery protected)

Kings incomming: Al Thornton, Tim Thomas, and 2009 1st round draft pick (probably lottery protected)

Kings outgoing: Ron Artest

Why for the Clippers: With Brand and Davis, they need to win now, getting Artest gives them a very very solid starting unit and almost assures them of a play off spot, as well as chance to win some play off series.

Why for the Kings: The Kings get a good young player in Thornton who can replace Artest. We also get a 1st round pick to help expedite the youth movement. We keep our cap space in 2010.

Unfortunately Tim Thomas is about the only contract the Clippers have that matches up well. On the plus side though his contract expires at the same time as KT's, so it won't mess up our 2010 cap space. The real meat of the deal is Thornton and the draft pick.

If Kings look at trading both RonRon and Brad, Hawes is not ready to step into a high post center oriented offense. But if they want to run and gun like Reggie espouses then a high-low or low-low rotation mix of Hawes+Mikki (until or if Thompson replaces him) with Salmons-Martin-Beno running out front could be interesting. Either of the BIGS pops out to get pass and dish then both go to rebound when the 3 shooters pop one or any of the 4 cut to basket. (Whoa!! armchair coaching big time! Guess it happens in the TDOS).

Brad has one major advantage, running an offense through him for cutters and shooters or for him to take the 12-20 ft shot. If he gets defending-rebounding help then I can see RonRon and he in Miami but for whom? Marion? don't think so.

If RonRon only then what starter on one of the top 7 teams not including BOS (Clev, NewOrl, Hou, Dal, Phx, Jazz or Lakers) are they willing to trade? Or what pieces that favor the Kings in the trade??? Toughie, that one.

They don't truly believe that. The lakers were only open to signing Ron for the MLE, that's it. They'd only trade for him if the kings took back contracts like Walton or Radmanovic. They're definitely not open to trading Lamar for Artest.

No disrespect, but how do you know for a fact what they believe. I don't.. I can make educated guesses, and if you asked me if I thought the trade was going to happen, I would say no. But I can't sit here and tell you what the Laker brain trust is thinking right now. And besides, what they may be thinking now can change in a couple of months.

Don't know for a fact, just what reputable insiders say. I've heard enough to speculate with a fair amount of certainty that they're not as down on Odom as the media would have you believe. Also when Artest was being shopped by Indiana it came out that Buss does not like Artest at all, it's more of a Phil Jackson love affair.
