Are the Warriors Better Than the Kings

Purple Reign

Starter
Tommorrow night the Kings will face for the first time the new look Warriors down in Oakland. Normally the Kings would go down there and it would be Arco West. Now... if you listen to talk in the Bay, the Warriors are clearly the better team. The fans are very excited about their team and should be. However it is some in the media that actually believe that the Kings suck and the Warriors are better

Is that true?

PG - Baron vs Bibby
SG - J Rich vs Bonzi
C - Foyle vs Miller
SF - Dunleavy vs Peja
PF - Murphy vs Shareef

Warrior Bench - Pietrus, Biedrens, Fisher, Diogu
Kings Bench - Hart, Thomas....never mind the Warrior bench is clearly better.

When Tom Tolbert (who is usually a fair guy in the media when it comes to the Kings) Came out and said it at the begining of the season at first I was pissed, but the more I reflect on it, yeah i think the Warriors are a slightly better team, as long as Baron is healthy.

Are they better on paper? Probably not. But that's been the big stupid we've been engaging in -- nthe game's not played on paper. Warriors aren't great, but they play well together and have a focus. They know how they want to play the game, and as long as their straw who stirs is healthy they just might be better, and are certainly a major threat to us at the very least. Its not the good ole days anymore.

Our frontcourt eats their's alive. Adonal Foyle? PLEASE. Bibby IMO=Baron. JRich>Bonzi obviously. Peja owns dunleavy. SARS owns Troy Murphy. Miller is way better than Foyle. Our bench sucks, dunno if theirs is decent or not.

So what is the scenario..... at this point.

Warriors make the playoffs, Kings don't
Both make the playoffs, Warriors with the higher seed
Neither make the playoffs

I just heard an advertisment on KNBR, saying "normally you hear cow-bells, but tommorrow night you will hear (then they play a Jason richardson dunk play by play radio clip).

I am very excited about this game. For the first time I feel a rivalry is forming between the two teams. And being from the Bay Area (although I have been a Sacramento resident for the last 18 years) I would love nothing more than a Kings versus Warriors 1st round playoff matchup.

They are a good team, but I have watched them play and I think they are about a 40-45 win team, I think the Kings could be a 50+ win team. The only question is whether the Kings will realize their potential, I think Golden State pretty much has.

At their respective bests, I say the Kings.

Warriors are the better team currently, by record. Chop the season up into 5 game chunks, ala Petrie, and watch and compare the teams that way. i.e. the Kings are much better now than in the first 5 games of the season. Still, though, I give the nod to Golden State at this time.

Well, that's great... as long as you live in/are originally from Northern California...

A Kings/Warriors "rivalry" does two things for me: jack and ****.

At the start of the season i bet some guy i work with that the Kings would have a better record than the Warriors at the end of the season. If i lose, I need to buy a Foyle jersey and wear it to work. If I win, he has to buy a Peja jersey and wear it to work.

I really don't want to buy a Foyle jersey :(

Gtronic - just guessing, but I bet almost everyone here would have made the same bet at the start of the season!

does the nba actually make adonal foyle jerseys?

I'd rather die than say that the Warriors are better than the Kings. It's the beginning of the season, the Kings have two new starters, it will take some time, but are they better ? Hell no.

I would definatly say the Kings are better. MOre experience, know how to play teh game with intelligance, and have a better started line-up.

I think GS is better with the bench, athletism, and blocking, but neverless IMO Kings are better.

At this point in the season, the Warriors look slightly better. By the end of the season, I don't expect that to be the case. But don't put too much stock in this one game. It's a back-to-back, on the road. The Kings are capable of winning it, but a win or loss does not clearly indicate which is the overall better team either way.

I can't argue with Peja or Miller owning Dunleavy and Foyle, but there is no way that Shareef owns Murphy. Murphy puts up more points and rebounds while turning the ball over less. At best, Shareef and Murphy cancel each other out.

I think what separates Golden State from Sacramento thus far has been their back court and bench play as compared to ours. Davis and Richardson have been far more consistent in outplaying Bibby and Wells, while their bench of Fisher, Diogu, Pietrus, Biedrins, and Cheaney has absolutely put ours to shame.

Hopefully Sacramento can put things together and develop a chemistry as the season progresses. Once this happens, I believe Sacramento's starting 5 may be able to carry the team past a team like Golden State. At this point in the season however, I can't see Sacramento hanging with Golden State in their building just yet. They are playing well right now and have athleticism that we simply cannot deal with. However, if Garcia continues to develop, Thomas stops pouting, and the starting 5 begin to feel more comfortable with each other, I think the Kings can consistently beat a team like GS in the second half of the year. If that happens, will Sacramento have enough time left in the year to overcome GS in the standings? Maybe, maybe not. In the end though, I think both teams will finish with very similar records, but I would not be surprised if GS finished with a better record.

On paper = NO

On the floor = YES

Now since we are a paper team we do have the potential to turn it on, and all of a sudden "click". We are a team that has thrived on chemistry in the past and I think we do have the type of players that will gel sooner or later. The starting unit actually has been looking good. Now if the 2nd until can follow we would have a great team going.

You can probably buy it and sell it on ebay if you must. Hopefully it's him picking up the Peja jersey.

Kings' alleged demise is news to Warriors
PLAYERS PREPARED FOR USUAL DOGFIGHT

The Sacramento Kings are done.
That's what's being said now that the Kings are struggling. The tradition of 50 victories and championship hopes is over for the time being, some predict.
Sacramento, picked by many to win a down Pacific Division, already has four double-digit losses, including a 26-point road loss to New Orleans in the opener, and has looked sketchy at best.
But the Warriors say they aren't falling for it.
``Not at all. I don't think they're done at all,'' forward Troy Murphy said. ``They've got real good players that have won a lot of games. It's going to be a real test for us.''
The Warriors have the better record entering tonight's game, the first time that has happened since March 1996, when the Warriors were 28-23 and the Kings 25-23.
Even with Sacramento's struggles, the Warriors -- who won last season's series 3-1, including two wins at Arco Arena -- are expecting a dogfight as the NorCal rivalry continues to intensify.
The Kings, who started 1-4 this season, have crawled out of the gate the previous three seasons as well but always responded with a winning streak. They lost their first three last season but improved to 8-4, eventually finishing with 50 wins. In 2003-04, they split their first eight games but went on an eight-game win streak to get to 12-4. They won 55 games that season.
In the 59-win campaign of 2002-03, Sacramento started 3-3 before rattling off nine of 10 to get to 12-4. Warriors point guard Derek Fisher, who has developed a distinct joy in beating the Kings from his days with the Los Angeles Lakers, said Sacramento just needs time to jell. The Kings have two new starters in shooting guard Bonzi Wells and power forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim, and have replaced regular reserve guards Bobby Jackson and Maurice Evans with rookie Francisco Garcia and journeyman Jason Hart.
``You can see the teams that have started the season and really struggled are the teams that had a lot of changeover, a lot of new personnel,'' Fisher said. ``I wouldn't expect that trend to continue.''
As usual, the Kings' defense has been their weakness. They entered Tuesday's home game against Charlotte ranking 25th in points allowed (98.7) and 28th in field-goal-percentage defense (46.8). But Sacramento has gotten going a bit because of a resurrected offense. The Kings entered Tuesday having scored 100 or more, shot 50 percent or better and totaled 20 assists or more in five of their previous six games -- and that's without sharp-shooting forward Peja Stojakovic (sprained right fifth metacarpal) for three games.
They averaged 109.2 points in that span, boosting them to sixth in the NBA in scoring (99.1). The Kings are fourth in assists (23.46).
``What makes them tough is that they've got a bunch of guys that can shoot,'' Murphy said. ``Brad Miller plays (center) and can make shots. It's a difficult team to defend and prepare for.
``Between Mike Bibby and Rahim and Bonzi Wells and Brad Miller -- those are some real good players. And they've got Stojakovic. If we play like we played (Monday), we're going to have a real tough time.''

pietrus is out, he's injured.

the warriors do have the better record, and the better start, but i think at the end of the year, the kings will be the ones on top. any team that counts on a healthy baron davis all year is asking for trouble.

No matter who the Kings play, from my standpoint they are always the "better team"!
Will they win tonights game? Who knows, but one things for sure, it's gonna be a great game to watch!

They are better team. As far as I know we've been kicked our **** for the last 4-5 games in a row. Of course Baron is the big factor.

it depends.

don't let fisher, morphy, and J rich shoot open three
keep Baron out of paint,

win easily.
