guy or girl...i dont think it really matters at all to INXS, at this point, even from a $$$ standpoint. they have triggered enough genuine interest with this show that no matter who wins, people are going to be curious about the finished product. the diehard INXS fans may be pissed off in the end, but this show isnt about appealing to the core fanbase of INXS. if it was, then it wouldnt be a reality show. they arent asking for INXS fan votes at the end of each performance episode. they're asking for Rockstar: INXS fan votes at the end of each performance episode.
if this is ultimately all about money, then INXS is going to choose the person who they think is going to sell the most records and the most tour dates. as a band, you never have to worry about your core fanbase. they exist as your support; your rock on which to stand. they are there, travelling cross-country to see you. this show is about pulling the most casual-fan and non-fan support as possible. when the show gets down to the top 5 or so, its not about talent anymore. they're all talented. at that point, its about popularity. in other words, the last person standing is going to be the one with the msot votes, both because the fans put them there and because INXS has the final say, and wouldnt marginalize or alienate the viewers of the show by going against their wishes. those are the people that will go out and buy the new record, and pay the (most likely obscene amounts of) money to see their live show. this is of course just my opinion, and even though it sounds like i'm presenting it as fact, i dont really know for sure. but, as a student and lover of music, and a consumer in the music industry, i think it could go either male or female, in the end. i still maintain that it will be mig, marty, and jordis in the top 3. suzie has no chance, because she's just too timid. JD's a grade-A *******...and the band's not gonna wanna take a chance on someone who's so forceful and manipulative. deanna's got a lovely and strong voice, and i've been pulling for her, but she's lacking in range and her pitching is real sketchy. as for ty, he's done a great job asserting real passion into his performances of late, but i still think he's too theatrical and too much of a primadonna (already) to become INXS's frontman. plus, he'd never heard of everlong before he sang it.
i, personally, think its gonna be mig. he's got a great voice, and good stage presence. he's kinda like steven tyler-lite on stage. he's not too flashy, and not too boring. he's non-confrontational, but also exudes a humble brand of confidence. the fans love him. INXS loves him. he's rarely off in his performances...smells like a winner to me.
