One thing I think people are forgetting is that Tyreke is a restricted free agent. The ONLY thing that matters is what offer sheet he signs and whether the Kings want to match it. Obviously you don't want a completely unhappy player coming back to Sacramento, but the reality is that the Kings control whether or not Evans goes anywhere. His fit, his role and his interest in another team don't really play into it from the Kings standpoint.
Of course this all could have been avoided with an extension last year, but we were of course Maloofed. In most industries it makes sense for the market to determine the value of a product or asset. Not so in the NBA because the market it is dumb. No matter what restrictions owners try to place on themselves in each new CBA, they'll still fall all over themselves to overpay for a guy when he looks like their best option in free agency. Most teams know they don't have a shot at the one or two marquee guys so they throw marquee money at good players. And unfortunately that is going to bite the Kings. I love Tyreke and I think he can be a lot more than what he's shown thus far, but right now he's not a $11-$12 million a year player. But I'm guessing he will get paid like one.
We'll just have to see if it's the Kings writing the checks.
