American Idol 2009! Rank your favorites!

Not Adam. I hated his U2 - One it sounded awful. And his 2nd song was even worse. I think he's going off reputation at this point, because he BUTCHERED both songs tonight.

I loved Kris' 'Heartless' and Danny's 'You are so Beautiful' was sung flawlessly.

Danny was NOT flawless. He was pitchy in spots. Kris, on the other hand, did do a credible job...

If I look at this from the viewpoint of who I would pay hard-earned money to see, it's a two-man race. I'd stand in line to see Adam, of course, and after tonight (especially the second song) I think I'd enjoy seeing Kris. Danny, though, is a warm-up act, someone who might be second or third on the bill but just wouldn't fill the seats on his own.

I won't be surprised, though, at any combination of Adam, Kris, and/or Danny getting to the finals. And I strongly suspect each of these young men will go on to success post-American Idol.

My final ranking:

1. Adam
2. Kris
3. Danny

As far as Adam butchering songs, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I simply don't agree with it...

Adam's just screaming... I don't like him anymore.

Im not an Idol watcher, but I watch Fringe every tuesday so I usuallly catch the end...

I think they should change the name of the show to Adam Idol. I get the idea ( by the last 5-10 mins ) that the judges are BEGGING America to vote for him. It seems like he always goes last ( cause I always see him ) which I think is a pretty decent advantage and the judges love him more than than anyone I can remember. I havent seen enough to have a solid impression but thats how I feel with what Ive seen.

Danny is so boring. I didn't really have a problem with his vocals so much as the first song was hokey (and he stuffed his crotch in a teen girls face a few times!) and the second song put me to sleep.

Adam was his usual. I guess we were a little disappointed because we heard he was singing Wicked Game and not that awful Aerosmith tune. I didn't really love him tonight but I can't really fault his singing and I appreciate that he always performs his own arrangements.

Loved Kris tonight. His vocal quality has gone down the past 2 or 3 weeks but that Heartless was great overall. I always want to like that song but can't get over the autotune. Thanks Kris.

I was watching me some Giants baseball, so AI takes a backseat to DVR and Ill be watching later to join the haters!

Why does it have to be "hate"? Why can't people express their preferences without it having to be about hating someone?

Not used in it's true meaning.

Just a quick one word description as opposed to typing "Nice to see some Adam Lambert high-pitched, screamy, shrieky vocal dislike round these parts, I will join in the high pitched screamy, shrieky vocal dislike later"

Not saying I hate him as a person or anything like that, it's just a quick one word cop-out about his AI vocal run, in my exclusive opinion.

Adam
Kris
Danny

After the first round, I would've put Danny ahead of Kris, bu Kris did a nice job on Heartless.

I didn't think Adam "butchered" anything. Cowell said "One" was one of his favorite songs and he thought Adam did a great version. It's obviously just a matter of opinion. When it comes to the complete package, including vocals, I think Adam is far ahead of the competition. (My opinion ;))

I think what I like most about Adam is his willingness/ability to take a familiar song and do it well but with his own spin. There is a definite "Adam style" to his performances that defines him as a performer.

I can prop Adam on one thing.

The guy looks like a bona-fide 100% rock star, and that cannot be taken from him.

Then he starts singing, and my comments will digress.
:p

Ok I liked

Chris
Danny
Adem

in that order.

Ok I got a question for everyone. What song would you have picked for each singer tonight if you had the choice? I will have my song with youtube link later.

I'd have picked Wicked Game for Adam. As I mentioned wifey and I thought he was singing that, I think that would have been great. I thought Kris was fine with both songs, I don't really like contemporary pop but that's what he'd be singing and he illustrated he could do it, I'd stick with that so I have no suggestions.

I had 5 songs I wanted to hear Gokey sing on my facebook back in the middle of the season. Considering they have significantly if not altogether toned down the references to his back story I will keep them to myself, unless that changes tonight. I assume they will show more bits of the homecomings tonight as they barely touched them last night.

What bothers me about Adam is that he's been the most current artist throughout this season, yet he's never done a current song. He needs to sing a song by Jet or The White Stripes, something to show what kinds of records he would be making. But as I said before, I'd love to hear him sing The Darkness - "I Believe In A Thing Called Love"

I don't care what any of you Adam detractors say, I like him. I've liked him from the very beginning - his audition was incredible - and I think he's got a fantastic career in front of him.

I'm also pretty impressed with the way KRIS has continued to improve.

It looks to me to be arguably the best finals ever because both young men have incredibly loyal fans. The difference might well boil down to where Danny's fans land.

If Adam would only listen to my man Slash. Slash gave him terrific advice "don't improvise so much in the upper register". "when you sing in the lower registers it sounds REALLY cool".

If Adam would apply that formula I would like him a lot more. He started out One... he was killing it with the slow low key thing. But then he took a detour to shriekville and pissed me off.

Come on Adam... do it right. No screaming in the finale and you will win in a landslide. I know I'm not the only one turned off by the screaming with the tongue out.

Yes, I love his talent but I'm not always a fan of how he uses it. I think he may have a hard time selling pop records to the masses compared to Allison and Kris (I know I sound like a broken record here but give me some credit for seeing Kris's potential for weeks while the judges pimped other contestants instead :)) While Kris winning would sit just fine with me, based solely on the merits of this competition Adam is my man.

While I agree in general, Slash was totally wrong about doing that for Whole Lotta Love. Then again Slash encouraged Danny to go for the scream.

1) Lambert--Didn't put up showstopping performances last night but I think he was saving it for last so he didn't have to top any expectations from the fans. Clearly has the talent, fanbase and the judge's votes
2) Allen--Becoming a real underdog. Went from 7th in my original ranking all the way to #2, a testament to a loyal fanbase despite the judge's general dislike of him. As last night showed, just knows how to put his twists in songs and stick to his strengths--has been very consistent and has done well for his standards even in genres that don't fit him. Has a jazzy feel a la Jason Mraz

Gokey definitely had the talent to be top 2 but somewhere along he had an ego trip and started screaming the songs more and more and going outside his repertoire. Too bad

Tonight should be interesting, to say the least. I've got at least three different programs going in each time slot and only one DVR.

I loved the first two songs by both Adam and Kris. The original song, however, left me cold. In fact, I resent the fact they forced those two guys to sing a song with such incredibly insipid lyrics. They both showed a lot of class in not refusing to sing it, IMHO... No matter which one of them wins, both Adam Lambert and Kris Allen have very bright futures in front of them.

If I had to judge on just the yucky song, I'd have to give it to Kris but I still think Adam has more talent.

:D

I thought Kris won the first round. I thought Adam sang "Mad World" better the first time. Maybe he was building.

Adam rocked "Change Gonna Come." Now I love Sam Cooke and would choose his version anyday, but Adam made it his own and sang it great.

I, too, hated Carla's song. What a let down at the end of the program. Ugh. I however, thought Adam sang it much better than Kris. To me, Kris's version was a yawner and almost as insipid/boring as the song itself.

They will both go on to fine careers, I'm sure, but to me Adam should win it.

The coronation songs are always painful. This one was actually better than the last few which is to say it was only really, really bad. I actually preferred Kris's style on it but I wouldn't want to listen to either ever again. I still think Adam did enough to win and Kris should have the more mainstream success. Best final I can remember in some time.

Adam probably deserved it on his body of work the whole season, but I thought he got worse and worse every week for the last four weeks or so. I'm happy for Kris.

By the way I'm vacationing in San Diego now and on the local news, Adam is just FULL of class! Showing lots of respect for his opponent, even while Kris is shocked he won.

Adam is a great guy. I hope he fronts Velvet Revolver or something at least that fun with his career.

What do you expect...
This is the same country that voted for George Bush twice. Kris Allen will be popular for a year or two while Adam will make records for years. How does the most talented singer in the history of AI not win? What a joke.

How? By relentlessly screaming and refusing to stop screaming...that's how, imho. I mean even the number he did with KISS was great until the end, when he screamed on past when the song was over.

I predict Adam will be less successful than Daughtry, unless he stumbles on a good manager who can stop him screaming so much.

So true. I'm half-surprised to see so many fervent Lambert supporters on here. Sure, he's got a voice, but if you've heard one of his songs, you've heard them all. That's how I feel his career will be too.

And are you guys really surprised with the results? Where did you think all the Danny Gokey votes would go? To Mr. Glam Rock Screams-a-lot? No.

Kris is the more talented musician overall. A multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and nearly as good of range as Lambert. I know the whole competition is supposed to be on voice alone, still America made the right choice.

I likke Kris, and I think he's going to put out some really good music overall. I'm shocked at the result, but I'm not mad about it.

But please, please don't try to convince anyone that Kris has nearly as much range as Adam. That's just silly.
