Is there anyway you would want to trade for him? If you knew he would be healthy? He has 2 seasons after this one on his current deal and he is only 30 years old. He does make ALOT of money but i dont think New York would be looking for superstars, because i think they would love just to get out of his contract. He is a veteran and could bring some star power to sacramento. It would definetley be a risk in terms that he may get hurt again but since i dont think it would take Reke or DMC to get him i think it could be worth the risk.

Giant contract we can't match without decorating them with every vet on the team. And unfortunately most of our high priced players are the only vets and defenders on the roster. Odd how you are able to draft/sign mini-chuckers almsot for free. Frankly given that he and Cousins do not fit I wouldn't trade JT staight up for him. And Salmons is all of a sudden valuable to our unselfishness. So is Cisco for that matter, but NEw York would absolutley want our only major ender. Etc. So maybe you throw out Cisco and Hayes and Thornton? All to get Amare. To be a backup because he and Cousins don't fit. To play alongside his impoversished orphan compaisorn in TRob? And then after the season without Cisco's ender to create exra caproom, now you are in danger of losing Reke as well...just see very little joy there.

First of all you couldnt trade JT straight up for him because their salaries arent even close. And i actually think he and Cousins fit pretty good. Amare can shoot so it would space the floor for cousins and Vice versa because DMC can shoot. The only thing i Dont like about it is Amare has never been a strong rebounder. But as you said with Cisco, Hayes and Thornton, If new york would do that trade i would actually help all 3 of them pack. I kinda think new york would want Trob too which i would actually be ok with since we already have so many young players. Im not giving up on Trob but i also dont think he will ever be a star player. And since we have to match salaries unless we involved draft pics i dont think it would hurt us resinging Reke which i very much want to do.

So we would actively make ourselves worse for what purpose?

Other than Salmons, which vets on our team do we really care about?? I could care less if i ever seen Hayes or Garcia in the game again?

Believe it or not, Cisco has played a key role in our recent good play.

If everyone was healthy cisco would never get in game. And we will NEVER resign him. I would totally understand people saying no to STAT if it cost us Reke or DMC and maybe to a lesser degree Thornton and JT, but i really wouldnt care at all about anyone else on the roster.

That's great and all but you've yet to have even begun to explain to me how selling off our few role players for another (albeit better) undersized big man (this time with the added benefit of injuries and ball-hog-itude) actually serves to make us better in the long run.

Because our role players arent that good. Other than Salmons and JT which of our role players could this team really not stand to lose? We would all love to lose one of our 3 point guards because we really shouldnt be playging all 3 of them anyway. I would rather have STAT in the front court than Hayes and Trob(at least from what he has shown so far and no guarantee he will get better). And like i said if Reke and MT were healthy garcia would never get off the bench so we arent losing anything there.

It has nothing to do with how he plays. If he goes down then the team has to pay his contract. Every team in the NBA has insurance on all their contracts. The knicks will need to be offering multiple #1 picks and taking back bad contracts for another team to even think about taking in his contract.

that would be even more reason to do it. Unload some of our bad contracts and get pics back. Yeah yeah i know if he gets hurt we stil have to pay him but theres no guarantee that will happen. And even if it does i would rather pay a hurt Amare than a healthy Garcia, Outlaw and Hayes.

If you were trading for Amare Stoudemire the star, that would be one thing. Bad fit or not a major star is amajor star. But nobody knows. He could come back and be 12pts 5reb on 43% shooting off the bench with poor defense. And on our team, there are two major problems: lack of shots, which makes him nearly uselesds because that's what he specializes in, and that huge contract pinning us. We already gave away some of our offseaosn cap space to add the thrid year for Jimmer. If you toss Cisco as well and birng back a huge guaranteed deal, then all of a sudden you could lose Reke ebcause you don't have the money to resign him. JJ too if that ends up mattering. And Brooks. And that's jsut a huge risk to take for a guy who might come back like Webb after the knee surgery. You really have to gut yourself. And we are so borderline as is, if we gut ourselves, and Amare comes back and is not Amare, or goes down injured again...

If some old expensive power guy is going to get moved and we are going to get in on the deal, Pau is the more versatile and guaranteed useful player. He's not beign offered free liek Amare. But of course with Amare's contract you have to send a stack of assets out whether the Knicks ask for them or not just to make salary room.

I agree with some us this, although i wasnt saying lets trade for Amare right now. I would want to wait until closer to the deadline when we actually get to see just what Amare actually does. If he's the start Amare then i would want him. If hes the 12pts 5rbs on 43% shooting then of course not.

As for Pau, he has injurt concerns himself since he has missed games this year because BOTH his knees were hurt. And he's 2 years older then STAT. I wouldnt mind bringing in Pau but if gutting our team is your concern its gonna cost alot more to get pau than it is STAT. I do think pau would be good for Cuz though since hopefully he could work with Cuz on his post game since whatever our coaches are doing is not working. Cuz post game if pretty awful right now.

I disagree quite a bit actually. Cisco, Salmons, IT, Jimmer, JT, and now JJ are all having good seasons for roleplayer standards. If we get Reke/Cousins playing at the top of their game, this team can push for that final playoff spot.

Turning one of our scoring guards into a fullsized defensive big (one of the bazillion shotblocking bigs sitting around in Milwaukee for example) would help as well. At least, it would make more sense than trading for a smallish offensive PF.

Thornton and brooks for Beno and dally?

I think it would make our team better, but I also think it's too much to give away, if that makes any sense. MT has good value, but it's possible with Jimmer's improved play that we have no need for MT. Beno and Daly would be a good fit here, but MT is worth more than that and the Bucks would happily do the trade.

The sad thing, as has been stated numerous times, is that if we hadn't ****ed up that offseason we could have MT, Beno and Dalembert.

Don't see how getting a overpaid, injury prone, low IQ and poor defender will help us. To top it all off hes in regession most his game is based on atheltic ability and hes not getting any younger.

And here is the problem with most people on this board. You say MT is worth more than that. NO HE'S NOT!!! He is a 6'3 chucker 2 guard that plays NO DEFENSE. I would trade him for either one of those to straight up. But here's the problem. First of all Daly doesnt want to be here, and he would leave again as soon as the season is over because his contract is up. Oh and theres the little problem of Milwaukee already has jennings and ellis, Im sure the last thing they want is brooks and MT.

Yes I am aware that he is not a defensive stud, which is why we would ship him in the first place. And Beno is some all-star defender? Daly is hardly getting any playing time as it is - Milwaukee would happily ship both of them to us and ask us out for drinks after that. If you honestly think that MT and Brooks are worth less than Beno and Daly I have not much to say to you.

Not quite sure why you're attacking me. I doubt you even understood my post.

I agree although I don't think they will resign him unless it is at the veteran's minimum. He DOES have value to this team as a good locker room guy/father figure but just not what he is making.
