Meh? You just said we're bringing more balance to the roster, saving a bit of $$, lose restrictions on a future 2nd pick and "lose some talent" and that's a bad thing? I guess I'm in the minority because I have no problem at all with this deal. In fact, I'm becoming intrigued with how the big picture will end up. People keep clamoring for PDA to do something. and yet when he does it's a "meh"? No team has been more active this off-season and I'm convinced it's not over yet. These aren't final moves; they're steps on the way.

Absolutely nuts. What's even more crazy? The FO has only committed long-term money to 3 guys+rookies. Turning over the whole roster without ruining our original flexibility of having space Year 3 when they signed on is pretty nifty.
 
This makes sense although I kind of liked Acy, he didn't really add anything we will miss. Depth player.
 
I'm not getting worked up about this move. It's shuffling bench players at worst. The money is relatively inconsequential, because it's not looking like a Maloofian move to save some pennies, because of the minor purposefulness of balancing the bench, which is a good thing.

It's a sign of things to come. We essentially gave up Outlaw for a 2nd rounder.

It's not a bad thing. It's a meh thing.

The Knicks would have to be pretty awful next seasons for those restrictions on the 2nd rounder to kick in anyway and essentially this deal only involved end of the bench players. Acy is a crowd favorite and Outlaw is an ending contract and they were dealt for an end of the bench one-dimensional shooter and some cost savings. Not horrible. Not good. Meh.

This is such a non deal that Hoopshype's current headline is "Outlaw to New York".

If this is part of a plan for a larger move to reshape the roster then great. But in and of itself this is an incredibly minor move.
 
I know that the report says that we will wave Tyler, but if we are looking for cheap bodies to fill the void after a big trade you could do worse than Tyler.
He was an intriguing prospect because he ended up going over-seas (like Brandon Jennings) instead of going to college.

He's a big body (6'10, 260) and still young. (23)

In theory if we brought in a starting PF he could fill in the void that could be left if JT was included in a deal the other way.

He really hasn't developed or shown a whole lot of potential, but for under a million dollars, he isn't a horrible option as a deep bench big, and at least he actually has size to swing over to Center if needed.
 
So maybe Tyler stays through training camp, they expect him to be waived? Is he on some sort of unguaranteed contract?

Maybe competition for Moreland in camp?

I like this trade because it gives the Kings a solid back up at the 2. Ellington can flat out shoot the 3. I will miss Acy and I wish they could've traded Reggie Evans instead of Acy, but Acy will have an opportunity to play big time minutes in NY.

And i hope they'll keep Jermey Tyler until training camp and give Moreland competition.

In your view is this a good end.-of-the-bench deal or a bad one? Doesn't "meh" mean what difference does it make? In this case I think a number of posters have suggested that it does make a positive difference, whether great or small.

I don't know that it makes any difference BUT if it does I would acknowledge that it would likely be a positive difference. None of these four players should see any significant court time for the Kings barring injuries.
 
I think there is a theme here that should be obvious by now - every guard/wing players that the FO brought in can shoot without hogging the ball. And for sure, these are the type of players that fit next to Cousins. Next time when there is an urge to throw out names, just think about the type of guards/wings the Kings like.

For all the fancy moves that a Marshon Brooks can make, it's the unspectacular Ellington that fits the 3rd guard rotation, imo.

Yup, although I would not be surprised to see the team hold on to him into the season waiting for the right trade.
 
With Ellington on the squad, I'm feeling a premonition about Ben being traded. I could be a lil upset about it, but I'm still down with PDA and I'm sure we'll get there (8,9,10 seeds this year!). Farewell Acy; you got us out of our seats with your growls and scowls.
 
Acy was a fun guy to root for, but losing him isnt going to cost us much in the w/l column.

Our deep benchers are a little bit more balanced. Decent, yawn worthy, trade.

Yep, it was fun to watch Acy dunk the ball like an angry man. I'll miss him, but as others have said, he wasn't going to be playing much here.
 
Ellington will also be waived, from what i'm reading. We can pay him his salary over 3 years, provided he's waived before August 31.

So neither player will be playing a minute for us, ever.

ESPN actually gave us a B for this trade and I'd totally agree. Acy was a cool guy and I loved his effort.
But......
this does give Moreland (who just signed for 3 years) an opportunity to play more, thus at the least giving us an improvement in the blocks (much needed) and he can rebound as well. Were not losing much in the offense.
Also we got a for sure 2nd round pick and unloaded some salary we're a touch more flexible. Its not ground breaking but as someone else pointed out JT and Jason Terry and potentially Ben McL could be moved at some point as well. This off season is still not over. I still highly expect a splash of some sort by the all-star break at the latest.

Shame we couldn't offload Terry/Landry
At least Outlaw is gone. Now, just to offload Terry, Landry and JT and we're set.
Of course, one of those trades has to include our starting PF. I like that rumor about Monroe but there is no way in hell the Pistons give up a player like him when he is the perfect fit next to Drummond.
