36th Pick: Who do you like there?

Vlade4GM

All-Star
Mike Muscala is my no.1 guy in the early 2nd, and I can't believe he's still being talked about there instead of the late first, but that could easily change on draft night, we've seen bigger rises before. Wolters is also someone that's very underrated in that range. Jackie Carmichael and Solomon Hill are guys I think could end up being nice role players that would fit our roster. Erick Green belongs in the 1st round, he reminds me a lot of Lillard actually, but I don't know if he'd get a lot of burn on our roster. Nedovic, Goodwin, and Kabongo could be interesting project guards. What's interesting about this year's 2nd round class is that there's a lot of bigs with 3 pt range.

I really like Jackie Carmichael. He's tough, but also skilled in the low block. I also like how he plays D on the block with his arms straight up the moment an opponent touches the ball, bodies him up. Some of his little leg kicks remind me of Karl Malone...but let's not get carried away.

Glen Rice Jr would be a steal, but I think he will go in the late first. His offense is already NBA ready, but his defense (awareness) needs a lot of tuning.

One thing about Erick Green is if you like McCollum at #7, how far of a gap is there between him and Green? I like McCollum a lot, but this thought keeps eating at me.

Out of the shot blockers, one has to fall. Could be Withey (low ceiling), Dieng (worry about his knee), Plumlee (doesn't do any one thing great), or Gobert (sloth or not?). Personally, I'd go big here if any of these guys are left.

Most intrigued by Ledo overall at this pick. I think he can be better than Lance Stephensen, but huge questions about his character and lack of college experience.

I'd pass on both Muscala and Wolters. I hope I'm wrong on either if the Kings take one of them. Read Colton Iverson was showing better than Muscala overall, and he may not be a bad pick here either.

Nobody really interests me at #36, but James Southerland because he has SF height and can hit spot up threes. If Withey or Dieng or Gobert fell, I'd pick them up (maybe not Gobert). I wouldn't mind taking Bill Walton's guy, Arsalan Kazemi.

Early on my hope was for Snell but it seems he's creeping up higher and higher so I'm not sure now. I'm guessing someone I like will slide to us.

I think that has a lot more to do with Green being underrated than McCollum being overrated, but there is a significant difference in strength and defensive ability/intensity.

Haven't rly looked into it, but James Southerland. If Withey or Dieng fell, I'd pick them up.

I'd really like a big taken here, if nothing else it would be fun to watch McCollum/Burke/MKG/Shabazz work on their PnR in Vegas Summer League with a big. Doubtful they would ever see the ball, though. ;)

The 2nd round isn't any worse this year than it has been in recent years, I think it might be better actually. There's a lot of late 1st quality talent in this draft.

Mike Muscala is at the top of my list. Very skilled 6'11" player. He has good range on his jumper out to just inside the 3 pt line. Can score with either hand in the post. Good defender and good shotblocker. Someone mentioned Colton Iverson showing better. Iverson is very skilled in the post, but has zero game away from the basket. He may be the least athletic big man in the draft. He's a tough kid, but Muscala is twice the player Iverson is. Apples and oranges really because Iverson can only play center, and Muscala can play PF, and possibly center, when he adds some strength.

Other than Muscala, there are several players I like in the second round. As mentioned by Vlade, Wolters is a personal favorite. 6'4" PG with high BBIQ. Great shooter, and very very tough. Not as athletic as some of the others, but he makes up for it with very good ballhandling and anticipation. He has stated that he really fancies himself as a pass first PG, but South Dakota St. needed him to score a lot. He doesn't see himself as a scorer at the next level.

I think Grant Jerret has long range potential. He's a guy that might spend the entire year in the D-League, but 6'10" guys with potential are worth betting on. If Jeff Withey slides, which I don't think will happen, then you grab him and get home as quickly as possible. Much better player than a lot of people realize. Great defender at the basket, and defended the pick and roll very well this year. I allso like James Ennis, and considering we have a hole at SF, he would be a nice player to invest in.

Lastly, I like Dewayne Dedmon. Dedmon is a very raw PF/Center. But he's a 6'11" very athletic player with very good hops. Low BBIQ at the moment, and like Adams, he came to the game late, so he's behind the curve. He's very raw offensively, and at times seems to get lost out there. So he would be a project, and considering he's already 24 years old, he would be a gamble. All depends on how fast he can get up to speed.

I really don't know how to feel about Ennis, I think if he was like two years younger I'd be really into him. It seems strange to take on a 22 year old senior as a project wing.

Few names I'd be happy with. Goodwin, Ledo, Wolters, Nedovic, Kabongo. Also agree that we should take one of the shotblocking bigs if they fall. As for other guys I'd be OK with - Snell (to see if the man defense is legit), Todorovic (to stash in Europe), Ennis, Muscala (possibly belongs in the first group but I think his lack of strength could really hinder him).

Assuming we take a guard with our early pick, I like Withey. A lot of mocks have him falling to us there, so that'd be a solid pickup.

Nemanja Nedovic, this guy would just be fun to have on your roster. Amazing athlete for a PG. Needs to develop his shot and stuff, but just the novelty of having a Euro posterizing NBA players would be worth it.

Yeah, he's a freak athlete. Can jump out the gym and very strong/tough. I actually really like him as a 2nd round prospect, too.

baja, what do u think of ledo

Well, with Ledo all I have to go with are his highschool and all star games. Excellent athlete with skills. My most reports, had he been able to play for St. Johns this past season, he would be a first round pick. Who knows, he may still be if he impresses enough in the workouts.
