All Time Kings Draft...on a Tropical Island?

Well, at this point, none of the players are realistically going to contribute to teams (at least not if they're any good). With this in mind, I'm going to go ahead and take the best towel-waiver in Kings history. Heck, no one else has came close to being as good as him. So I'm happy that I've got the elite when it comes to locker-room presence, fun, and encouragement from the sidelines!

Write-up to come at a later date. Too busy now. Would also appreciate if someone could PM spike for me.

OK, so I need someone who can score...no? Umm...someone to rebound? Hrm. OK, how about someone who won't completely embarrass themselves, and can actually play pretty good defense?

Dahntay Jones

2007-2008 25 games 3.2 ppg (.434 .167 .667) 1.4 rpg 0.5 apg 0.3 spgSo he isn't married to Candace Parker. In fact, he isn't married...but he did play for:

The Nuggets

..and...the Pacers...

My next pick is

Leon Wood (90-91)

12 games, 6.8 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 4.1 apg

Short tenure, extremely productive. He'll be first pg off the bench after Beno and will even see some pt with Beno at the 2.

He's also very smart and knows the game well.. you know, since he's a ref and all.

I select:

Gregory Donovan Ostertag
('04-05) -- 56gms 9.9min 1.6pts (.440 .000 .342) 3.0reb 0.7ast 0.1stl 0.7blk 0.4TO
Can he block a shot to save his life? Yes
Is he taller than 7'0? Yes
Can he dunk on Yao? Yes
Played
his entire 11-year career on teams that finished the season with winning records.
Fourth place in number of games played for the Jazz, behind Stockton, Malone, and Mark Eaton.
He became the first player in NBA history to play after donating an organ.
This guy is clearly Hall of Fame material.

Trevor Wilson
('93-'94) -- 52gms 21.1min 8.0pts (.481 .000 .560) 4.7reb 2.0ast 1.1stl 0.3blk 2.9TO
Good for some hops and rebounds off the bench.

Well, I think uolj has the last pick in the draft, and he has a coach, so he won't be taking Natt unless somebody trades for his pick.
Color me uninformed.
Now Mr. Irrelevant is going to be a much anticipated series finale, much like the epic LOST from last night!

Will it be Les Jespen or Orien Greene?
Find out...Later~!

:p

By the way, what happened to kingsnation? "Pick coming" turned into... ?
Turned into things coming up outside of a message board.

Sorry for holding up the draft but as soon as I posted that I had to run, and had no means of getting on until now.

Would've PMed Brick if I knew my pick, but well, I didn't. So, now.. pick coming..

With our next pick and the talent winding down, we select:

Randy Breuer (1993-1994)

One reason: Size.

Randy's final year in the NBA. He is needed for our team specifically for a big body. A 7'3" body. He can come in and bang around, foul some guys, grab some rebounds, block a shot or two hopefully and set some screens. No scoring needed. Possibly a put-back or two.

26 games, 0.7 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.3 apg.

My pick:

Dick Motta

Had a bad stint here, but it was between him and Musselman, and I'll say no thanks to Eric. At least Dick won a championship, and he was actually NBA coach of the year in the 1970-71 season. So he can't be that bad, right? Certainly the best coach left on the board. Muss couldn't even last more than a season here. Motta lasted two and a half.

No worries. I don't mind at all if people take their time on picks. It was just kind of funny. And I'm intrigued to see who everybody will be picking. :)

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Actually looks like.

We have not had a timeout yet in this draft so I am going to send hi a quick PM nudge + see if he shows up before moving onto me.

Sorry guys, had to deal with stuff. Im here, and not flaking out.

Anyways, I will go with the home town hero. The single best coach and color commentator in the history of sports, let alone anything Sacramento.

CHUCKLES THE HI..Er, ah-hem, Jerry Reynolds!!!

Not only is he the best coach and commentator in the history of the NBA, this man had proven to be the greatest mind ever in the WNBA, and beyond that the man possesses my secret weapon...
This man has an absolute man-crush, gushing, love of my earlier pick Drew Gooden.

With Jerry Reynolds my coach, Drew-Good would have not only played more than one game, he would have started 82 and averaged something along the lines of 20/13/4~!

Alright, my procrastinating and holding the door open for you to pick was not entirely benevolent -- 99.9% benevolent of course, because Bricklayer = benevolence, but not 100%. Part of it too was me needing to see which way you would go to know which way I had to go here.

So my pick:

Coach Bill Russell

The theory? Well first, see all those things on his hands? Two of them even came with him serving as a player coach. Second, of course he learned form one of the best coaches of all time. And the third reason simply goes by the name of Ron Ron. Ron is a nut, respects nobody, including himself, and is nearly impossible to contain. But if ANY of the coaching candidates in Kings history (Rick excepted) was going to have a chance to earn his respect, to out ego him, to meet his defensive mindset and even trump it, it is Bill Russell. I build a team for defense, who else am I going to take as their mentor? So do I still think Bill was a ****, just in town to steal our money, and really a guy with massive ego and gratitude problems? Sure do. But for my squad, with my own resident nut, this probably gives me my best shot at nirvanna.

Brick, here's my updated Leon Wood selection page..

My next pick is...

Leon Wood (90-91)

With their 11th pick and the 128th overall pick in the 2010 All Time Sacramento Kings Draft the “Droids for Clunkers” select

Kenny Natt
(Wouldn't mind getting that guy on the right side of the photo, but...)
Before I go on and select my last two towel wavers, my team needs a coach. Obviously getting a coach in SacTown is not a simple task. Arguably, even impossible. They are as common as good centers in the franchise history... But I do have one half of a coach on the court (Woodson) and I am completing it with another "half a coach" type on the sidelines. Natt once played for the Kings (albeit still in Kansas City), was a good assistance coach in contending franchises (Jazz with Sloan followed by the Cavaliers) and is very accustomed with playoff environment, which my team will surely need. Only served as an interim coach here after replacing Reggie in a dismal year and succeeded by Westphal. With the lack of options he is getting a second chance.

It's hard to follow Kenny Natt, but I'll try. With my 11th pick, I select:

Darrick Martin 6'0" G
('99-00) -- 71gms 12.6min 5.7pts (.380 .306 .824) .6reb 1.7ast .4stl .03blk .87TO

Darrick is another consistent piece to add to this team. I have a tall starting back court of Danny Ainge and Mitch Richmond, and Darrick can come off the bench to add ball handling and speed, running and gunning with Eddie House. Darrick averaged 5.7 points and 1.7 assists in just 12 minutes of play. He also played 71 games for an exciting, up tempo Sacramento Kings team that made the playoffs. Not bad for this late in the draft :).
