AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

The arguement about who is the better snger in the other thread is moot IMO. I think the band it self is greater then one individual. My favourite band of all time. My first record I owned was AC/DC's High Voltage. I still have the record. This song though when I first heard it I was already a fan after hearing it AC/DC became my favourite band since.

I love all the AC/DC picks so far. And I have to say I agree with everything you said here. My favorite of all time as well. And for the record, I DO think Bon is a better singer, but I love "the other guy" as well

Unfinished Sympathy - Massive Attack - Blue Lines (1991)

Almost picked one of their albums in album thread. This is one of the 3 songs I shortlisted for this thread, in the end I decided to go with Sympathy as it is their biggest hit from their genre defining debut album.

Holiday - Green Day - American Idiot (2004)

Well as long as we are chatting Green Day in another thread... ;) Actually was always planning on queuing up something from them in this one, it was just trying to decide which one that was the causing me angst. Love the wild energy of this one though (and get a kick out of the drummer playing the trunk of the careening car in the video) and its my current fav of theirs I think. Was the boys getting back to their punkish roots, and of course throwing down a political gauntlet at the same time. But mostly it was just loud and fun, and will have me bouncing off the palm trees out on the ole island.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to deviate from the standard practice here, as my Google Fu has not succeeded in finding a link to this song, so I'm just going to have to announce it, and trust that you take my word for how awesome it is. With my next pick, I select:

Harvest For the World - Raphael Saadiq - The Isley Brothers: Taken to the Next Phase - 2004

This is a cover of the Isleys classic Harvest For the World, and it's one of my favorite covers of all time. In fact, in rates up there with Boyz II Men's Yesterday, Boyz II Men's Can You Stand the Rain, Caron Wheeler's Another Star and Johnny Cash's Hurt as covers that I like better than the original song.

Ok Prophetess said to skip her if it got around to her again this weekend, so that means it's my turn. Time to add my favorite Bon Jovi song

Livin' On A Prayer - Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet

Lift Me Up - Moby - Hotel

It still surprises me that Moby (or any legit house act) pulled in a Grammy for Album of the Year. I saw him back in the early 90's and he was so energetic, he would get the groove going and stand up on top of the equipment and play his guitar and just plain get the crowd into it. The guy has some serious charisma and is an incredibly unique human being, read any of his liner notes for proof. This song is really uplifting and I love to snowboard through the trees to it.

Megalomaniac - Incubus - A Crow Left of the Murder

Not really into the whole message the video is trying to send, its a wierd video again. Still, its a good song.

Alright, you may have noticed some changes on the draft board. It has become pretty clear that voters are going to need links to songs that they have not heard or do not recognize the names of. It is a pretty big undertaking all at once. I will get to it bit by bit. Feel free to PM me any edits.

I have noticed that there are several posted picks that have neither links to or imbeds of the song. Especially a couple of you. It would be appreciated if you went back to your posts and edited in a link or embed the video. Imbedding is really easy, PM me the link to a youtube vid and I will PM you the format to use. At least put in a link. The voting on this is going to be tedious, so lets make it as easy as possible.

Thanks.

I wanted to save this till later, but everyone's had their AC/DC fix so I might as well have mine.

Hells Bells - AC/DC - Back in Black

I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing that no one picks my favorite song from bands that have been heavily drafted. Time will tell.

As for the song, the epic intro is almost enough to draft the song alone. But it really is a full and complete great song.

Next up...a college favorite:

All I Want - Toad The Wet Sprocket - fear

[yt=All I Want - Toad The Wet Sprocket]YZpUUrEWnWQ[/yt]

Any student at UC Santa Barbara in the early/mid-90's loved this band. They originated there, and I remember going to see them play free shows in the park in Isla Vista. I'm not sure anyone on here will know what I'm talking about, but there really wasn't anything better than a Freebird's burrito and an afternoon in I.V. park with Toad.

itunes wants me to select...

You Haven't Done Nothin' - Stevie Wonder - Fulfillingness' First Finale

[yt=You Haven't Done Nothin'(original)]Ji2ma2mfyhU[/yt]

You know, as far as political songs go, this one still remains timeless....as far as signature Stevie song openings go, this one is another classic, you hear the opening strains, you know this song instantly.

live performance

1) my brother went to UCSB in the mid 90s.

2) he worked at Freebirds for a bit while he was there

Glad somebody took some Barenaked Ladies -- will not have room myself. Had a friend back in lawschool who was a big fan + kind of turned me on to their goofiness.

Consider yourself lucky. Me being Canadian and all I was subjected to Barenaked Ladies everyday on the radio. Don't get me wrong I like some of their stuff just not all of it.

~20 years ago mixing rap and heavy metal seemed pretty fresh. This was perhaps the highlight, sadly it was pretty much all downhill from there.
