So Ordinary That It's Truly Quite Extraordinary

I keep being pulled in different directions, but figured I'd go with something mellow that still makes you want to sing along. I seem to recall my wife and I doing just that on our first road trip together.
"King of the Road" - Roger Miller (1965)
[yt=King of the Road]rhApYxZisBI[/yt]

next selection ..

The Killers - Romeo and Juliet

[yt=The Killers - Romeo and Juliet]McnTmRqNzBs[/yt]

The origional version by dire straits is sweet too, but I guess Im a little young and like this version better, either way the song is nice ..

I switched up here for this section of the draft to get my full itunes library select some songs that aren't currently loaded on the ipod I've been drafting from. So itunes wants me to select next....

Dust In The Wind - Kansas - The Best of Kansas

[SIZE=-1][yt=Dust In The Wind]hkbdP7sq0w8[/yt]

Little older, little bit on the downer side, but still one of my favorites. Looking at this video made me laugh tho, boy has the art form come a long ways....

So many directions to go in now...well, I'll go this way:

Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House - Crowded House

[yt=Crowded House - Don't Dream It's Over]dZZfuCJ970w[/yt]

One of my favorite 80's tunes...was a huge hit worldwide and spawned several covers. Always in my playlists when I want a good representative song from that decade.

Here I'm gonna take my first Weezer song and just one of those songs that when its over I always have to listen to it one more time. Or maybe two more times.

[yt=El Scorcho]7CEqVTWo4EI[/yt]

El Scorcho - Weezer - Pinkerton

I really think this song of the peak of Weezer. It is the best song on their best album (narrowly in both, though) and everything after tends to pale in comparison. Rivers' song writing and lyrics are just at their absolute freaking best here though I might be a little biased because this song relates pretty well to me and has some lines in it that just come off odd but seem to make perfect sense to me (most notably the "bring home the bacon" line).

Dance of the Manatee - Fair to Midland - Fables From A Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True

Yes thats a long title for an album. I think Fair to Midland is an awesome band and I'm choosing them because they are one of my favorite bands and I think they need a little more publicity. They are very different and unique and the singer's range is incredible. The entire Fables From A Mayfly is great and it has alot of variety in it. The link i posted goes to the official music video, but the embed is of the song live..so if you want a better quality of the song i suggest you check out the music video...which is kinda wierd as well.

My #20 is:

[yt=Nirvana]OqDntdmEZTY[/yt]

The Man Who Sold The World - Nirvana - Unplugged

I think Nirvana are overrated slightly, even though I really like them. I had to choose between 3 of their songs that I really like, and decided to go with this one. I'm sure at least one of the other 2 will be chosen before this is all over

This song is one of my all time favorites. I'd have probably picked it way up in this draft had I not drafted Pinkerton in the album draft.
Yeah, I love it too. For me, the music is great and all, and I enjoy that, but its the pure, meaningful lyrics that show you how good Rivers can be that get me.

And yeah, some people are adhering to that unwritten rule, of no songs from the album draft, some aren't.

I would have, but I picked Smells Like Teen Spirit on a whim without thinking I had got it in the album draft as well. Otherwise, I probably would have tried to stray away from my album songs.

Paint it Black - The Rolling Stones - Aftermath (1966)

My own favorite Stones song. Seems to sometimes get overlooked in their canon. Have no idea why. Great great song and forever associated with that era and that damn war. Think I first picked up on it after it was used to close out the devastation at the end of Full Metal Jacket.

Great song, no doubt about it.

"Ruby Tuesday" has a special significance for me (both a blessing and a curse, to be honest), but this is probably my favorite of theirs, as well. Just a great sound.

That is the song that was chosen for Guitar Hero. I like that one, but there is one other that I like second best, it has great piano as well and is on Satanic Majesties. Nuff said?

my next pick you thief. Wasn't Fortunate son good enough.

Sleeping Lessons - The Shins - Wincing The Night Away (2007)

I used to think that The Shins are very good to begin with. After their latest album I really think that they can be great. We'll see about that, but this is one of my favorite songs of past 2 years.

Really? Had no idea. You haven't been much in the classics market. Only time I thought I might be treading on your toes was with the Bif Naked pick.

But that's ok, makes up for you stealing R. Kelly from me. What will my island be without him. :p

Yeah, I am pretty sure I commented on El Scorcho extensively when I picked Pinkerton, there is so much I love about it lyrically, from the opening line to the old school ECW reference back from the days when ECW was in like 4 cities.

The no-mingling drafts rule is just a way for me to keep my sanity.

AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

The arguement about who is the better snger in the other thread is moot IMO. I think the band it self is greater then one individual. My favourite band of all time. My first record I owned was AC/DC's High Voltage. I still have the record. This song though when I first heard it I was already a fan after hearing it AC/DC became my favourite band since.

U2 - Bloody Sunday - War

Well I have to take what I consider is the best song U2 has ever made. U2 is one of my favourite bands.
