Berger: Kings seeking frontcourt help.

Faried is cheap this year, big salary jump next season.

I don't see that working out without minimum of 2018 first or whenever we can trade it going out too, protected of course.

But we would have to find a way to trade Thompson or Landry or next season our clutter at the pf/c will be terrible.

that jusuf nurkic kid is pretty good. if we took him, we'd be like memphis with 2 bruisers down low. nurkic and hit the mid range also. alas we're looking for run n gun pretty ball.
Man just stop you know they won't trade him you know this.

Why are people saying there's not enough minuets for Nik/Ben? That's ludacris there's 96mpg at SF/SG spot Ben/Gay get 3pg Nik gets 24mpg. Also you'd think people would learn by Bens improvement that you don't trade rookies right away.

Another bad move is trading Quincy Acy. And even though we got back A 3PT SHOOTER, he releases him. Well, Ellington is doing well off the bench for the lakers. (Smh) And we keep trading our 2nd rounders for peanuts..... He's been a pretty bad GM so far.
That's a 'meh' trade to me. I was never particularly impressed by Acy. That move cleared the roster spot to sign Casspi, which is a plus. I'd prefer Ellington over Sessions, but that's a pretty minor move in the grand scheme of things.

The problem is we will need to trade either Ben or Nick eventually because there wont be enough minutes for both of them.
I tend to agree to some extent without knowing what their long range plans for Nik is. Nik is tall enough to put in some time at the SF position, but he needs to be stronger to play there regularly. I know that many teams thought that Nik could develop into a PG down the road because of his court vision and passing ability. Once again, althought he's a good enough ballhandler for the SG positon, he would need to improve there to be a regular at that position. Sort of weird saying that since he's a better ball handler than Jimmer was at the same time period.

So far it's hard to tell what their long range plans are, if there are any. It appears that their just trying to get his feet wet and that's about it. He's hardly involved in the offense, and that has to be by design. I've seen Nik play many times at Michigan, and he's capable of so much more than their asking right now. It's almost as though their throwing him out there to get experience on the defensive side of the ball, and if he hits a couple of shots, so much the better.

Another blunder by the FO. The pick should have been Payton. Payton could have developed playing under a vet like Collison, then when Collisons contract is up you decide if Payton is your guy to take over. They also could have played together at times for a very quick athletic back court. If Stauskas was your guy you should have traded Ben, brought in a vet SG that Stauskas can learn from. Name me another team that has had two young player at the same position and developed and kept both? Really dumb by the FO, Vivek demanded Stauskas and the Gerbil sat there like an idiot. Then he wants to act like a man with a plan in the Malone firing, guess what? no plan!
The Warriors drafted both Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes, and both played the SF position in college. Thompson was moved to SG and it worked out fine. Different scenario of course, but it is an example of drafting two players back to back that played the same position in college.

No doubt you are right. Nik could be very good and although he is called a SG, he can be on the court with Ben because he is not limited to being a SG. I really don't want to see him gone. Let's see what he becomes.

The Nets had been working to find a third team to take Perkins and his expiring contract, sources said, until discussions with the Thunder cooled. Yahoo! Sports - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.GYrEV8NM.dpuf

But of course, not a peep that Kings would be one of the "third" teams. Naw, he's not much of a defender or backup.
Unfortunately he is one of a fairly long list of guys that Boogie detests and there would be a brawl by the end of the first day of practice. :)

really? they've done a bunch of questionable stuff. if there is a leak and YOU KNOW the FO is stupid enough to consider it. my question is WHAT THE **** are they doing? i just don't get it. are they rebuilding? "refurbishing"? putting all the chips in to make the playoffs this year? tanking?

Sanders suspended 10 games for drug violation. I say we offer the Bucks Dwill and Sessions for Sanders and Marshall. We can take him off their hands

Since we're talking about potential targets...

Nerlens Noel is still the holy grail front-court partner for Cousins I think. He's so mobile defensively he can help Cousins lock down the paint and also roam out to the perimeter and cover wings. He's never going to be a great offensive player (though his passing ability is pretty advanced) but he's in some pretty good company so far with the start of his career. He's sucha good fit, I'd be willing to give up quite a bit to get him.

Philly has Embiid coming back next season and they could be in position to draft Jahlil Okafor, Karl Towns, or Myles Turner at the top of the draft this year creating a bit of a logjam in the front court. I don't know what it would take to realistically pry him loose. If our pick doesn't go to Chicago, maybe Stauskas and this year's pick could make it happen?

By the way, Elfrid Payton had 22 points and 12 assists tonight against Memphis. This is the guy the Kings should have taken.
vivek "thinks on our team we lack shooting. i think stauskas claimed he made 91 out of 100 3 point shots." need we say more? he made the pick for us.

fast forward to 4:22

So, are you gonna post these same type of statements when Payton plays a bad game, or just front runner posts? The kid may end up being a good player, but he's averaging 7 and 5 and has woeful shooting percentages. He's accomplished nothing to prove he's the guy the Kings should have taken, as you claim.

I think its too early to give up on Nik. I think he will have a very good NBA career and he is just going through the rookie year blues that Mclemore went through last year. The kid just has too much skill not to succeed.

Having said that, if he can get us back a borderline star PF that addresses our needs, you move him without blinking. The worst thing that could have happened to Nik was Malone getting fired. Malone was going to teach him how to defend at this level and that was one of the main reasons why Nik is not getting minutes in his rookie year. Now, there is no one that can or is willing to teach him how to defend in the NBA.

The reason that the shots are not falling is that he is just not used to the pace of the game and that comes with more playing time. He shots look really good, he is just rushing them and they are not going in. Its all part of going through the rookie year and having a dose of stage fright.

I tell you what, you post when Nik has a good game and I'll post when Payton has a good game. Payton > Stauskas

Tonight..Payton 19 pts on 9 for 17 from the field, 4 reb, 8 assists, 3 steals. I hope Nik does well but I'm not Stauskas fanboy and we passed on a better player.

Peyton's better at a prime position. Should have went with him not who vevik/Mullin wanted. Peyton learning under Collison/malone would have been great.

Do you guys think we should experiment with Nik playing the backup point for a few games to see how he looks there? His limited foot speed is the obvious drawback but I think it would be interesting because he clearly looks to want to be a playmaker.
