Malone fired

Those of you who know Karl better than I (everybody, I presume), tell me his negatives. Seriously. I can think of some humorous negatives but real life negatives.. What I understand is that he is a player's coach. Hasn't had a losing year in a long time. 2 decades? He has already said he would coach the Kings.
He wears thin on the players after 3 or 4 years, sometimes will bash players in the media. Hasn't had success in the playoffs

And then afterwards the fans looked like raging idiots. Especially considering how things turned out. Not that trading a player and coach assassination are the same thing.
Very different situations not a person with a brain thought ellis was a winning player and wasn't till a complete turn in Dallas. People need to stop bring that up they are different monta was shipped for a better player and to open things up for the splash brothers. We fired a coach who turned the culture/team around so we could do gimmick crap.
Nobody outside GS thought they made a bad move.

People should not ignore that factor. People want this to end, and they have a big name sitting out there. But note, he is still sitting out there. Odd huh? And note that his personality and tendency to view himself as bigger than the team and preference for coaching and sending medsages through the media is a real concern when you talk about Cousins. Even moreso when you consider that Karl, for all his regular season success, has never coached something like DeMarcus Cousins before. Everywhere you turn, every "option" such as they are, presents a new way to screw over what should have been the brightest star in the Sacto franchise history. Even Karl.

Are you trying to say that he hasn't won a championship? He's gone deep into the playoffs multiple times.
.432 lifetime post season winning percentage. Ousted in the 1st round 14 out of 23 times, making the Finals once. I would love to bring Karl in over Mullin, but the greatness of Karl doesn't seem to translate into postseason success, especially in Denver (ousted in 1st round 8 out of 9 times).

well well well.. what did i say before and got jumped online for it. FO are newbs. bahhahahaahahha

can't wait for the circus to arrive (mullin). i'll have to buy some popcorn and enjoy the comedy of 4 on 5.

The sonics played the bulls in the 96 finals. I believe he coached a few of those really good sonics teams. He took a Bucks team that only had Payton and Cassell into the 2nd round. The rise of that Nuggets team? No success in the playoffs?
Yeah he had most of his playoff success with the sonics. Bucks not so much and Denver not at all (zone time out of first round only). In 25 years, he made it out of the first round only 8 times. Better than anyone we've had in a long time and it's partially a reflection of the teams he was coaching but I'd hardly call him a great playoffs coach.

You know what it is clear now that Malone wanted to keep tyreke and was vetoed by the fools. Malone was all over tyreke the minute he was hired. Shouldn't PDA have known that the salary would go up and you can't afford to let tyreke leave and tyreke at 11mil doesn't hurt flexibility when DMC contract wouldn't kick in for 2 more seasons . We still could have traded for Gay cause Toronto wa trading him for anything. We could have had DMC, JT, Gay, Tyreke, and Ben that is a championship team in no time when you add a bench and the way Malone tought defense.
he did say he thinks like 5 steps ahead. i'm sure he thought of that scenario and thats why we don't have reke and we do have derrick position-less williams.

In Karl's defense, what exactly has Melo accomplished since he left Denver? Nothing. He had an aging AI and Carmelo with a couple of defensive studs. Here in Sac-Town, we have a more balanced team, with a dominant big and a great SF. I am sure Karl is not ignorant to the fact that Cousins is an amazing big man. You don't get to 1000+ wins being stupid/ignorant.

No doubt, I think Karl is a great coach and would love for him to be hired. This is all tangential anyway, I was just answering Glenn's question about some of Karl's real drawbacks. I count his playoff (lack of) success (moreso recent than Sonics days) a drawback, but it doesn't mean he is a bad coach by any means.

George Karl is a short-term solution for a front office that doesn't respect the process of slowly establishing an identity and building your success around the fixture of a strong coaching staff (Jerry Sloan, Greg Popovich). Bring in George Karl and a couple of established talents like Josh Smith and Rajon Rondo and make a bid for playoff relevance right away. It's only going to last 4 or 5 seasons and then you'll be starting over again looking for the next big thing. I could tolerate it if everything breaks properly and we get 4 or 5 years of legit playoff contention out of it. But even if it does work out that way, giving up on Malone this early will still be seen as a huge mistake. If you shortcut your way to the top, there will be consequences down the line.

As this roller coaster continues, looks like we have reached out to Del Negro, via Chris Mannix at SI.

Even with that said, looks like Corbin is taking this team into the off season. So essentially, Malone's firing was pointless.
Like I said earlier, Malone being fired was more due to the fact that he stood his ground, said no, and coached the team the exact opposite way that the owner wanted. Vivek doesn't like people saying no, so out he went. Style? Nice way of saying he didn't do what we wanted him to do. I wonder how PDA sleeps at night.

Watch that video of him during the press conference when he was asked if Vivek fired Malone. The way he responded was with an angry attitude, saying "I am the general manager." Why get angry if you are the GM? It is completely obvious that only 1 person, possibly 2, are calling the shots, and PDA is not one of them. It's Vivek, with Mullin's input. That's it. Period.

He took a team to the Finals a generation ago. Unfortunately, coaching has evolved since then, but there's no real evidence that Karl has.

... took a Bucks team that only had Payton and Cassell into the 2nd round.
Well, first, Allen was still on the team; they hadn't traded for Payton yet. Secondly, he 'only' took a team with three All-Stars (Allen, Cassell, Robinson; I'll give you a pass on Michael Redd) to the second round?!

stop the charades already. it's mullin's job. they're going to what people in the government do when they practice nepotism. they're going to pretend to look at other candidates and then hire the one they always wanted.

Success in the playoffs is a title. What else is the goal?
Depends on what team you are. OK, so forget Karl. Who else is there beside Corbin and Mullin?

Edit: He has not had a record where his team won less than 1/2 of the games in 21 years. How is that factored onto the negatives?

The last time our franchise was a success, going by these standards, was in 1951. I think there were only 8 teams to battle with. That makes it easier to be a success. I might be wrong about the number of teams in the league.
