Would you trade down to Knicks for David Lee?

Newest foxsports mock shows Rubio dropping to us at the 4 spot

Interesting comment on No 8 pick for Knicks:

"The Knicks could look to make a deal to move up and flop picks with Sacramento. The Kings like Rubio but if New York sweetened the pot with someone such as David Lee, it would be tough to turn down. Then again some feel that Lee is more valuable than Rubio or Jennings"

Since there would be several PGs at the 8 that might be a safe PG pick
Do you think if it looked like Rubio was going to fall to the 4th and Petrie got that last minute call from Knicks saying we could have Lee and the 8th pick to get a PG for the No 4 Rubio pick would you pull the trigger?

I think this story or one like it was out a couple of days ago? Or maybe I just heard it around here (here being NY) locally.

In any case, Lee does not fit with Hawes/Thompson. That is just terrible defensively. Think we've moved beyond needing him. The interesting scenario isn;t the rubio at #4 scenario, but the what if he's not scenario. I don't know who we like next after the rubio/Thabeet combo, but if both those guys go at #2/#3 its possible that we could get our next favorite guy at #8 ratehr than #4, If that were true...well we still would not haave a need for Lee, but it would be interestng. Possibly pick up an extra player for free. But an extra expensive player that would clog our cap.

Yeah I looked it up, he is a free agent, but looks like NY might try to sign and trade deal to move up the draft. We would have to give up one of our expirings since NY wants to preserve cap space for 2010 and we would probably end up with a big contract.

Thats too much to give up for a third big, so I hope GP wont consider this type of deal.

just thought it was an interesting comment

Wait, you can't do a sign and trade deal before or at the draft, I don't think.

Correct. It has to be after players can be signed in July. And they can't even negociate with the players till July 1st. So there is no way Lee could be part of any draft day deals.

Dismiss the credibility of ANY trade scenario that includes Lee in a SnT for a current draft pick. It's IMPOSSIBLE. It's NOT possible to even PRE-ARRANGE, because that would be tampering that includes a 3rd party who is a scheduled FA.

So any SnT including Lee that involves draft picks is completely and utterly fabrication.

Yes, we would have to draft for each other and then trade after July 1st. However, no thanks on David Lee. He's a nice player and great rebounder. However, he is going to want a contract over the MLE, bring no defense and can't create his own shot or shots for others very well. He'll be a nice piece for the right team, but that's not us right now.

The actual trade would end up being #4 + our potential free agent for #8 and Lee. I would much rather grab someone like Sessions and make sure Petrie gets the player he wants at 4, then have an overpaid Lee.

Hmm, good point. Is it tampering though if the Knicks are facilitating it? I know other teams cannot contact Lee or his agent before July 1st, but are the Knicks allowed to be speaking with him this whole time. This seems like a gray area, do you know the answer to this Smills?

They are not allowed to start negociations till July 1st.

There is no way that NY can guarantee Lee is willing to go to any team.

Thanks. Then that pretty much blows up this rumor. I really just don't think the Knicks have the ammo to trade up in this draft. The NY media just keeps wanting to fabricate ways to make them better.

Haha, thanks.

Found a link to an oldish (around the end of the regular season) blog by JT where he says he wants to really hit the weights this summer, and his goal for next season is to average a double double...Which I think is pretty doable for him.

Unfortunately he also says he wants to shoot 3s next year, which hopefully doesnt hurt his offensive rebounding too much....Cause I guess you cant be a Kings big without bombing away from long range.

Lee was one of the players we Kings fans drooled over because he looked like a star when he played against the Kings. But he's a limited role player that is better off serving a role on a better team. If he wasn't an answer at PF on the Knicks, then isn't the answer in Sacramento. No way would I trade down for him.

The KINGS should trade with the Wizards for number 5 and Nick Young, we'll give the the 4th pick and Cedric Simmons (sign and trade). Then we draft Stephen Curry, the best PG in the draft and we get a young player that can score off the bench.

Once again, you CAN NOT make trades with CURRENT picks that involve SnT's. It's not possible. AT ALL!
