Would you? Reke for Rondo.

Rondo and Evans have similar trade value. I'd make the trade if Rondo was known to increase team chemistry AND if he can make free throws. He's known somewhat as a malcontent and he can't make free throws. I'll keep Evans, or trade him for someone else.

I do love watching Rondo play though.

Not everyone who was a good player can necessarily teach.

Agreed. For sake of argument, if the most outstanding shooting coach available was to tutor Tyreke over the summer, and Tyreke was no better in his shooting than currently, what then?

No, it doesn't. Being a great shooter doesn't mean you are a great teacher. And when I say he needs a real coach, I mean a real head coach. Right now, 95% of the times he attacks 1 vs 1, from the dribble. He needs someone able to teach him how to move without the ball, how to use the screens, how to use backdoors and all this stuff. He would be much better if he learns to play off the ball. These are skills that requires a lot more work than improving a jump shot.

To do that, he needs a great coach/teacher. Is Smart the right person? I hope so, but I'm not sure. He has never had a teacher in his NBA career. He always had the freedom to do pretty much whatever he wanted on the offensive end. I'm not sure this is a good thing for him.

So how do we know he's NOT a good teacher. Or is this the argument:

Tyreke is tutored by Mr X shooting coach during the summer.
Tyreke still can't shoot
Therefore: Tyreke was taught by a poor shooting coach.

At what point do you throw in the towel? When would you know that it's NOT the coach?

There are some excellent shooting coaches that are used by NBA players. And Tyreke needs to hire one of them as his personal shooting coach for the summer. If he does, I guarantee you his shot will improve. This isn't rocket science. You could point out the obvious to him. But a professional coach that has the proper teaching technic's can make a huge difference. Anyone thats taken golf lessons over a period of time and ended up being successful usually had to experience more than one instructor. The good one's have tricks to get you to do things the right way. Other than that, its simply putting in the time and repetition, under the watchful eye of the instructor.

So from what you're saying it sounds as if Tyreke hasn't been tutored yet by one of these shooting coaches. If this coming summer Tyreke still isn't being tutored by one of these shooting coaches, then what?
