Thank God we didn't go after Ramon Sessions the way some people wanted to last season..

You can't blame those who wanted too though... he averaged 7 assists in his rookie season... Its disappointing that he hasn't been able to make it work in Min. I was hoping he would become a really good player. He's young and still has a chance though.

I know, which is why I'm thinking we're watching 2 different guys.

Martin takes charges, Cisco plays with a lot of heart and toughness.

I actually like Cisco, but he is scrawny, and he is a flopper on offense. Famous for it. You either know that or your purple homeer glasses are opaque from overtinting. As some people's around here are. He kicks his feet, throws himself on the ground always looking for a call. Not a single current King does that, with the possible execption of Beno every once in a blue moon. Even Noc has cut most of that out of his defensive game.

And Kevin, yeah LOL. Its unfortunate I am not a betting man or I could have earned a lot of money off the of the silly Peja/Kevin fandom around here over the years. Yeah. Toughness personified there. :p

Scrawny floppers. Both of them. But at least move Cisco from SF to OG where he's no longer the 90lb weakling and limit his minutes and his ego and $$ are not so great that they necessarily trump his versatility and scrap. On the other hand Kevin is the anti of everything we are now. And softness and apathy is like a disease. It spreads. That old team form the past few years is mercifully dead and gone. Let's leave it buried and move forward with something much better.

Because I have a different opinion than you, I have "purple homer glasses"?

Seriously?

And what does Peja have to do with this.

No, nevermind. We just completely disagree on what we're seeing.

Last season's woes had more to do with Artest's ego and inconsistency and distractions, Beno's injuries, and poor coaching.

But to blame all that on the two bright spots, Martin and Garcia, is mind-boggling.

What is mind boggling is that you would attempt to blame last seaon's woes on Ron Artest, who was playing for Houston at the time. And Beno's injuries when he played in 73 games.

Calling anybody from last season a bright spot with the possible exception of Jason requires again some really nifty glasses. Especially people that came to personify everything that was wrong with us.

The last few seasons tend to run together for me. Awful coaching, awful players, no direction, too many distractions.

So I'm confused, are you not a Kings fan like everyone else here?

I like Cisco, Always have always will.

He tends to flop a bit, but I wouldnt refer to him as soft. Kind of like Manu .. Look up flop in the dictionary and youll see a picture of him, but he is tough as nails and you want him on your team.

IF we trade Martin and Nocioni ( two ideas Im coming around too ) then Garcia will fit in with this squard perfectly.

I find it funny that people think Westphal will make it all work when these guys come back. He has done an excellent job this year, but I guarentee you he wont be able to make NBA games longer. And thats the only way all these guys will get PT.

We either need a trade or someone to get hurt, If neither of these things happen the second half of the season is going to be a lot less exciting.

I like Cisco but he has been inconsistent at times. I can see him competing for playing time after he comes back. But even Kenny Thomas gets playing time on this team and contributes. I'm confident that Westphaul will make good decisions.

The irony is that you accidentally hit upon something real about last season -- I was in favor of acquiring Ron, and then after getting an up close look at him I decided he was an irredeemable nut and was in favor of dumping him. But once he was was dumped the other part of the truth was revealed. When he first showed up our merry band of softies was well on its way to missing the playoffs. He arrived, assumed leadership, and led us ot the playoffs one last time aghainst the Spurs. When he left, nut or not he took every ounce of fight and guts we had with him, and what was left was exposed for the spineless soulless crew that completely quit on the season last year. Noone involved came out of it without the taint of softie and quitter hanging in the air around them with the possible exception of JT, who as an overeager rookie didn't know any better than to leave everything he had on the floor.

As a rookie poster I'll just let that last part slide.

OK, but I'm curious why you are exempt from wearing "purple homer glasses", that's all. If you're a fan, you have a perspective, you have favorite players, you filter what you see through your perspective (glasses) like everyone else.

And, Beno did play a lot of games last year, but I believe he was hampered by back pain and played poorly. He's a different guy this year whether because he's healthy or he's motivated. Whichever it is, I'll take it.

Also, I want to say I respect your opinion and enjoy reading your comments. I just see things a bit differently. It makes the place more interesting, no?

"Purple homer glasses" is pretty much Bricklayer-speak for "apologist." Being a fan of a team does not require you to only see/discuss the positive things.

I've seen an awful lot of negativity here as well. What's the ratio of positive/negative opinions that get you in the "I'm completely unbiased therefore my opinion carries more weight that your's club"?

Be careful mi amigo, your treading in dangerous waters here..:D

here are some homer glasses for you. We won our 10th game on jan 14th last year. Here we are Dec. 12th. We got 15 games between now and jan. 14th. BTW we didn't win our 11th game until feb 1st. Once we get to 17 wins, keeping track of this will be redundant. in fact I think we will win our 17th game before the end of jan. Would be cool if we got in on my annual trip to Atlanta. Same seats as always right behind the Kings bench kicking it with SAR and Pete.

I don't know if anyone has ever asked me that...

I hereby declare myself KingsFans.com's sole arbiter of whether or not someone belongs in the "I'm completely unbiased therefore my opinion carries more weight that your's club." All decisions are final, selectees will be notified by mail.

There just a lot of built up frustration. Its unfortunate.

Im almost certain everyone here is a Kings Fan, why else would they be here?

Its just that year after year, the Kings FO seems to be one ( or two, or three ) steps behind a lot of the topics and opinions talked about here. It sounds silly, I know .. but how many of us said we need to blow things up and start over 3+ years ago? a lot. How about our defensive problems? Its the same issues, thats frustrating.

This year has been the first year in a long time that positives out weigh the negatives. We're winning games AND were one of the youngest teams in the league. Our defense still sucks, but were finally rebuilding. I hope it stays like this.

And you will collect all the dues as well?

While I don't completely agree with Bricky's critique of Martin and Cisco, there are merits to it. On the other hand, I agree completely that there's no way to bring both those players back without disrupting the current team to some extent. You could find a spot for Cisco by trading Nocioni. To me Cisco is a slightly more athletic clone of Nocioni. And was a more consistant spot up shooter prior to his injury. But Martin is going to affect the rotation. Someone's minutes are going to suffer. My guess is that the minutes will come from Sergio and Beno. While neither of them are great defenders, they at least have been willing defenders.

I can't say for a fact that I know it won't work. But it scares me. These guys are starting to know one another on the court. You can see it in small increments. The timeing, and the eye contact. The little things that separate the good teams from the bad teams. Chemistry is a fragile thing sometimes. It scares me to screw with it.

Is Cisco even due back this season? I thought he was pretty much done for most of it.

He was talking with Grant and Jerry during the broadcast. His cast is off and he's practicing his shooting BUT with a very strict "no contact" rule in effect thus far.

Just so you know? For the most part, when Brickie refers to myopic homers with purple tinted glasses, he's more than likely referring to me. We've argued/debated about Kevin Martin from the very beginning and probably will until the end of time. I was one of the first people on the Martin bandwagon - it happened on draft day. Bricklayer, on the other hand, has never really been impressed by the kid.

It's all in fun (well, almost all...). We've got some very loyal Kings fans who have been here for a long time. We know each other pretty well and some of us have even met others face-to-face. It's a family around here. Dysfunctional, perhaps, but we're family.

Welcome to the fun.

:)
