Ok random trade Alana Beard trade idea:

Kara, Laura, and 09 first round draft pick for Alana, Nakia, and Bernice Mosby.

I'm thinking that Washington is looking to rebuild and start fresh with a new coach/GM and that they could use a shakeup. It brings Laura back with Crystal Langhorne, they get a proven veteran in Kara, and they get another pick in the first round to continue to gather young talent.

We get a player who can defend AND score, a solid post player.....and an athletic forward who can still develop into a role player. Our starting 5 could be Ticha, Alana, Nicole, Bekkah, and Nakia (or Walker). Don't know if we have the cap space to do this, but I think it could work.

Oh, and special congratulations to former Monarch Erin Buescher.

Well at least something to salvage this season........LA has been eliminated. :)

Now time for NYL to do the same!!!

Yes, I'm really really hoping that the Liberty can get it together and pull out a win. It would really be nice if there was a different Champion. If it is SA and NY, I haven't really decided who I will root for.......probably SA.

Congrats to The SilverStars! That was some finish.

Nice push-off's from Hammon-time;) Just clearing some space...''yeah''

CP3 FOR THREE....Huh...airball....wow.

Welcome to the Wnba rookie, where the officials are not your friend:cool:

GO LIB KIDS!!!!!

Congrats to the [groan] Detroit Shock for winning the WNBA Finals.

But I'm glad that Taj McWilliams-Franklin finally has a Championship Ring. What a class act she is!

New Mystics G.M.

Angela Taylor has been hired as the new General Manager of the Washington Mystics. She has also been named as the team's Vice-President.

Taylor never played in the WNBA, but she did work in the league's front office, and was a Vice-President for Business Operations for the Minnesota Lynx. She was a player for Stanford's two NCAA Championship teams in 1990 and 1992. She served as an assistant coach at Stanford and at Texas A&M University. She also coached at the University of Arizona.

It was already reported the previous week that Detroit Shock assistant coaches Cheryl Reeve and Rick Mahorn have already been interviewed for the Mystics' head coaching position.

For the benefit of any WNBA fans who happen not to follow the NBA, "Forehead" is Kings reserve forward/center Shelden Williams, which is why this was originally posted in the Kings Rap forum.

EDIT - Nuts, somebody edited the thread title: "Candace Parker and Forehead to be parents" struck me as eminently funnier.

Three trades for the Minnesota Lynx

Very busy day yesterday (Friday, Jan. 30, 2008) at the Minnesota Lynx front office. They made three transactions.

From their website, here they are:

TRADE #1: The Lynx announced that they have acquired Rochester,
Minn., native and eight-year WNBA veteran KELLY MILLER along with
forward LATOYA PRINGLE from the Phoenix Mercury in exchange for
NICOLE OHLDE. Miller, the former Rochester Mayo High School star,
returns to the Twin Cities after attending the University of Georgia
and spending the past eight years in the WNBA.

Kelly's identical twin sister, Coco Miller, plays for the Washington
Mystics.

TRADE #2: The Lynx announced that they have executed a sign-and-
trade deal with the Los Angeles Sparks, acquiring forward CHRISTI
THOMAS in exchange for center VANESSA HAYDEN-JOHNSON. Hayden-Johnson entered the offseason as a restricted free agent.

TRADE #3: The Lynx announced that they have acquired two 2009 draft
picks - the ninth selection in the first round (ninth overall) and
the second selection in the second round (15th overall) - from the
Washington Mystics in exchange for guard LINDSEY HARDING, Minnesota's
2009 second-round selection (23rd overall) and the Lynx' second-round
pick in 2010. With this trade, the Lynx now hold the fourth, ninth
and 15th overall selections in the 2009 WNBA Draft.

If Courtney Paris drops, the Lynx cleared roster space for her and that fixes their post hole. But giving DC their spare point guard I think might keep her from dropping to them. They need an older veteran to me tho and to move Quinn.

Nice move for DC if it works and they move some of their other redundant pieces.

Chantelle Anderson in broadcasting?

News on former Monarch Chantelle Anderson...

Vanderbilt career scoring leading Chantelle Anderson was an analyst for the second half of the Fox Sports Net broadcast of the game against Arkansas. Anderson is headed into her sixth season in the WNBA and her second with the Atlanta Dream. When she retires from pro basketball Anderson plans to become a television broadcaster and is spending the remainder of this season "getting my feet wet."
