Wilcox staying with Seattle?

Wilcox to sign a deal with Seattle... according to this Sonics fan, not official anywhere yet:

Reports out of Seattle say that the Sonics and Chris Wilcox are about to agree to a 3 year, 24 million dollar deal.

While still on the high side of what I would of liked to pay Wilcox, since he was dead set on 10 mil a year over 6, I cannot complain too much. Especially at the 3 year contract term. That gives the sonics some relief in case Wilcox never plays up to the level he played after coming from the Clips...and a short enough contract that he's an expiring deal in no time, which in and of itself is an asset.

Here's to hoping you deliver that 14/8 we need from you Chris.

He may be re-signing to stay, or it may be they are finalizing that deal as part of a sign&trade according to this article.

Chris Wilcox: Nearing a Three-Year Deal For Sign-and-Trade Purposes

Update: The Sonics, who have three teams interested in a sign-and-trade for Wilcox, are nearing an agreement with Wilcox on a three-year, $24 million contract, according to a team source, the Seattle Times reports.

Recommendation: "Nothing has been finalized," agent Jeff Fried said. "We want to conclude [contract talks] as soon as possible so Chris can get with a team and begin preparing for the season." An NBA source has indicated Phoenix, Golden State and Sacramento as teams that have contacted the Sonics to talk trade scenarios.

Some posters on realgm said that he was going to stay and sign on Monday or Tuesday but the seattle times and the story above say that he might go in a sign and trade. I really can't wait to see what happens, they are doing a great job keeping the info hidden, lol.

Note this little blurb in that story, and why while it would still be nice to get him on the "we desperately need to do something" theory, big $$ and Wilcox make me nervous:

"He spent 3 1/2 uneven years with the Clippers, gaining the reputation as a poor practice player with a questionable work ethic."

Maybe Muss could have a little influence on that, if necessary? If not, Artest sure would....

Coach Muss, Artest, and now maybe Wilcox?

Do we REALLY wanna make the Kings a ticking time bomb just waiting to blow-up in our faces?

What the bloody hell? Quite a nervous, jumpy thing there.

Muss/Artest I don't even need to discuss. It's already been covered enough by the media - the right way.

I'm sure Wilcox would get with the program. That was three years ago. Never heard anything bad in Seattle, did we? I sure didn't, and I read the NBA news daily.

He's not gone yet, and if we don't get him, we tried. Once again.

Not enough info yet to come to a conclusion though.
