I know he hasn't played in a long time... But I still don't understand why he can't at least be given a chance. I thought this would be his time to at least get some PT with Miller out... Would you like to see him in?

ya no, i say the same thing to myself, why not potapenko? hes big, hes strong, hes shown that hes very servicable in the NBA. but this is a couple years ago. in our minds, hes not getting a chance. but keep in mind that they do practice together. hes getting a chance every single time he plays in practice. the coaches see him a lot more than we do, and if he hasn't done anything in practice to deserve minutes, than i dont want to criticize musselman and co's decision.

another thought: its not like rick played him either. this isnt a snap judgement, its just a trend for potato

ill give him 5 minutes to show me the changes he's made since last year. he's terrible. just because he smokes like vlade doesnt mean he can play like him

If he doesn't get playing time with any other roster why us...he'd be out there if he was any good.

We're better off with our two tweener PF's at PF and C.

Im all for it. He might as well play since braqd is out. At worst, he is another 6 fouls we can use and the guy is tall so that also helps. At this point, any size would be welcome IMO.

Exactly, this cracks me up everytime I see something. One year it was Skinner, the next it was Tag.. Come on the guy is just not good therefore he does not play. Its not like he is some diamond in the rough.

He's been in the league for 10 years, averaged 19min, started nearly 200 games.

Its more of a case of him getting minutes (SOME minutes) with everybody BUT us. And yes, that's very similar to both Tag and Skinner who were/are proven NBA vets. Not stars or game changers, but proven vets. As is Pot really. This is no Loren Woods, or even Justin Williams. This is an NBA center, albeit a low level NBA center.

I think he should definately. He is a very good outside shooter and great post up defender. Who knows what he could do under Muss in regards to hustle.

i dont understand why we cant use him
he is big....blocks up the lane from potential pgs scoring easy layups and like someone pointed out, gives us 6 fouls to spare.

Him losing 20 pounds is a great sign and if he gets the nod tomorrow, he should make the best of the opportunity.

If that were true don't you think he'd be our primary back up center...maybe it used to be true but I'm not so sure anymore.

I would too if Pot hadn't worked so hard to lose weight. He is trying to earn PT and I think his effort should be rewarded.

Yeah then some scrub comes in and has 30 and 15 rebounds against him...I don't think the reason he's not getting time is based on his weight.

Well now I hope he does get time lol...maybe he can prove to be some use and help us although that's wishful thinking.

Eh, in the right match up situation I could see Pot getting the nod. Problem is he cant keep up with a run and gun offense so I see the only roll for him is in 1/2 court play to body up against big centers who are scoring threats inside.

Exactly. Use him as a banger against bigger teams. Use SAR against faster teams. Makes sense. But even in a run and gun offense the center is not an integral piece. If he lost weight and is putting himself through conditioning then he can't be much slower than Brad right? And it's not like he would get 40 min anyway so he should be able to use all his energy for 10-15 minutes. (keyword: should)

I never thought we would be desperate enough to actually talk about using Pot. But drastic times call for drastic measures right?

For some reason many of you have forgotten than Pot was actually a rather decent Center for teams he has played for, and has gotten significant minutes with every team he has played for... It's not as if he's rode the pine his whole career

What scrub comes in and has a doube-double on him? You must be confusing Pot with our current frontline. We never see Pot play except for some garbagetime minutes last year under Adelman.

I think Pot not getting playing time has something to do with his weight. Losing weight means he has undergone conditioning (and probably a new diet too). Which means he might have more stamina, he might be able to run the floor for more than garbagetime minutes, and he might be able to move quicker. I say might because at this point we just don't know.

I think another reason he doesn't get PT because he is not as in sync with the team as Brad and Reef. But at this point everyone is still trying to adapt to the new system, so I say give him a shot.

Why did we trade away Skinner again? Oh yeah, to get some more "moveable pieces", it seems the only moving that happened was Monia deciding to go back to Russia. ;)

To avoid the luxury tax. It had nothing to do with flexible or moveable pieces, just $$.

Who cares its 6 to 1 and 1/2 a dozen the other. Our Frontline from Brad to Pot aren't what we need to go with the rest of the team. 1 of them would work if we had that 1 guy all we need is that 1 guy in our frontline rotation or the starting lineup. Now who that guy is i don't know.

I heard that, but is was so late in the year, what kind of "savings" did we see? It hurt us more than it helped us. Brian was a good tought banger with decent size with a good locker room presence.

I would have really liked to have seen how Monia developed, but with only have Pot left really stinks. Well at least Brian went back to Milwaukee where he like it before. It's a nice clean smaller city. Probably a very similar market to what we have here in Sac.

The guy is KG! ;)

Not to mention he's already on the roster and being paid.

I don't care if we call someone else up and give them a 10-day, but its silly to just let Pot rot.

I agree. I say give him a chance in the right situation and see if he can earn a little of his paycheck.

We didn't pay luxury tax and MSE got (I think) a $4 million paycheck for being under the tax, as did every other team not at that limit.
