Ahh, the nostalgia for Adelman. I recall fondly the shows Lost in Space (Danger Will Rogers, Danger!") and the Adams Family too....Adelman was no genius. When he had lousy defensive talent, he had a lousy defensive team. In his last year, which wasn't pretty, I recall him pointing that fact out in the paper. Also, I recall he said he would come up with whatever X's and O's offense, but you had to have the players to buy into it and execute it. Pat Riley sucked as a coach a few years ago when he didn't have any talent. So did Doc Rivers before he got Garnett and Allan.
It helps a lot to have veterans, especially when they are talented veterans.
Cousins would never play. Darnell Jackson would be starting at Center, him or JT. Luther Head would see the same minutes and we'd be testing out Evans at small forward.
Same thing he does with all his squads. Get the most out of them. Take them to the playoffs. And finally succumb to the much more talented Lakers and refs in game 7.
the thing about rick was he would be soooo set on his rotations and would not deviate from them. it was frustrating just like westphals random line ups.
