The King's Speech -- This one snuck up on me. I didn't know anything about it until it was suddenly nominated for a ton of Golden Globes, and even when I went into the theater I didn't know much about it other than the cast and some very general plot points. Really, really good film. Colin Firth is good and deserves the buzz he's getting, but Geoffry Rush and Helena Bonham Carter really blew me away.

just saw "let the right one in"... and loved it.
great movie, first creepy as hell, an then you get drawn in and sympathize with all the characters, and then it is even CREEPIER that you sympathize with everyone.
loved it... 5 stars.
(this was the Swedish version, i haven't seen the american one, which i believe is called "let me in", and stars the hit girl actress from "kick ***")

in retrospect i especially loved the "father" character. No sympathy EVER for that guy...He is introduced by showing him murdering and draining the blood out of a kid. he seems like a silence of the lambs type creep fest and is just...bleck. but you SYMPATHIZE with the "12 year old" vampire and REALLY sympathize with the actually 12 year old kid....
but then ... at teh end of the movie, you have to think about "where did that (father) come from....?" and "where is this 12 year old boy gonna end up...?" and you realize that the father IS the 12 year boy (more or less), in 40 years, after being used by the "innocentish" vampire and becoming less and less human, until he basically isn't useful anymore and gets eaten and replaced.
His one scene where he is trying to please the vampire, and says: "i just have one request, stay away from the boy, ok?" at the TIME in the movie, you think he just is trying to be safe, not draw attention to them... but in the end, you realize he is jealous... he KNOWS he is going to be replaced soon, and is bummed about it.

Secretariat. The acting and story were excellent. I was surprised how much I liked this movie.
I happened to catch Bruno last night, I had already seen it at least once. I thought it was pretty funny the first time, actually was quite interesting after the way the last two years have played out politically to rewatch that one.

I caught Con Air on HBO a few nights ago ... For the first time. Wow. I loved it in a "this is absolutely rediculous" kind of way.
The Bruce Willis/Helen Mirren 2010 film, or the 1994 Kieslowski film of the same name?
Never saw the former; the latter is one of my favorites. Irene Jacob deserves her very own pretty girls theme for a blowout night (or at least she did in 1994).
The new one. Haven't heard ot the other. I think I enjoy it more than I should for some reason.....

Unstoppable. Good action packed movie.
Watched the Facebook movie last night (The Social Network for those under a rock 
). The movie was as good as everybody said it was. Sadly my alma mater served as the punchline for a handful of cheap jokes early in the film. But I got over it and enjoyed it. I don't think I've ever seen a movie paint such an unflattering picture of a person, especially a living one, as this movie did without some kind of major pushback from the subject's people.

I saw this over the weekend, also. I really enjoyed the story telling and the dialogue, and I think the roles were filled perfectly.
What was interesting to me is that, even though they painted an unflattering picture of Zuckerberg, they still made you kind of empathize with him, because he sort of came across as a savant. It was like his worst attributes were nurtured, and then manipulated, and the real villain wound up being Sean Parker. Dustin Moskovitz said, among his criticisms: "At the end of the day, they cannot help but portray him as the driven, forward-thinking genius that he is." I agree with that.

I have a choice of either seeing I Am Number Four or Unknown. After reading this, I will go see Unknown instead.
I wish I had seen Unknown instead.
This one seems to be the beneficiary of low expectations because most of the reviews I have seen state "It's not as bad as you'd think". Definitely one I planned on staying away from though.
When I saw Michael Bay's name, I knew it was going to be ... cheesy. I enjoyed watching it, but it's not in any way a good movie.
Oh, didn't know Bay had anything to do with it, all the reviews were centered around the fraudulent writer James Frey's involvement.
Executive producer. They saved most of the dramatics for the final sequence, but still. Classic Michael Bay.

Letters to Juliet - very nice romantic movie.
Megamind with the little one. Was fun, definitely like the last few Dreamworks CG Animated pics that I've seen.
Just Go With It - pretty decent chick flick, wife and I went with some friends of ours. Better than your typical Adam Sandler movie as far as a date movie is concerned. Over the top and out there plot-wise? Yep. Did we care? Nope. Not with the hotties in bikinies at times and some pretty funny bits.
Watched Due Date. A modern angrier Planes, Trains and Automobiles. I quite liked it.

The Book of Eli with Denzel Washington and Mila Kunis. Liked the movie very much (it could have been due to the hotty Mila Kunis). The flick takes place in post apocylptic times. A man (played by Denzel W.) protects a book he's carrying, while crossing the country, which holds secrets to save mankind.
I also happened to catch Lucky Number Slevin over the weekend on the tube. I was expecting pure crap so I was surprised to find out there was actually a pretty decent story here, presented non-linearly in a mostly effective fashion. But still plenty of hitman antics like I was expecting.
