Watched No Country For Old Men a few hours ago. Crazy movie. I don't get all the acclaim.

Finally pulled Zombieland off the shelf. I am not sure why it took me so long. I guess being a fan of a lot of bad horror movies I get worried when something mainstream comes along. But this was a ton of fun.

My thoughts on Saw 3D: Don't see it if you have not seen the previous six films. I could do without the 3D feature (3D is overrated). It was not scary at all. I had no emotional attachment to the self help group and the traps were even worse (lame). Ending was cool as it was predictable, made sense but wanted more time devoted to it. John's work lead to this? Come on. Love the Saw franchise but this movie sucked.

They just need to quit making these Saw movies, I'm sure six or seven are enough. This isn't Halloween/Friday the 13th/Freddy where it's cool to have 10+ different movies of one movie. Give it a rest, they need to make another Grudge movie or something, I know number 2 came out, but it didn't get all that much hype and exposure.
Well you will be happy to know that they planned 8 but because 6 tanked because 5 was so awful... this is it.
Though with the way movies are going now expect a reboot in 3-5 years.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to tell you the truth. I don't even like them re-making classics so much like Halloween/Friday the 13th/Nightmare on Elm Street, o.k. maybe once is fine, but they made each movie, what two or three times up to this point? You know it's going to keep going. They should stop messing with these classics and let them be. It's a shame the creativity for movies has gotten worse and worse as the years progress on.
8 would have come out next year but they cancelled it.
I thought the first was marginally inventive with a BS ending, the second was ok but the swerve came a mile away. 3rd was crap, 4th was an improvement and I didn't see 5 or 6. My real problem though was making a new one every year. I don't like to see something run into the ground like that. Same with video games these days, everything has to be recycled year in year out and you've even got heads of publishing companies say it isn't worthwhile to take on a fresh game if it doesn't have obvious long term franchiseability.

Like I've said, people who write these scripts these days aren't creative. They feel three parts isn't enough to a film, which usually means that's the end of that film unless a remake is in the future, other then that movies should not exceed three parts, it just never ends and after awhile, it gets annoying.
It's not about a lack of creativity, its a lack of the studios and producers willing to take risks. I mention it all the time but there is this amazing movie that you'll never see because Disney buried it called The Sweatbox about the movie that became The Emperors New Groove and its all about how Disney destroyed this potentially great Disney flick because they demanded to see exponentially increasing returns on each successive feature and this one had a few marginal test screenings. Those people got thrown out on their butts but the mindset of Hollywood remains the same 15 years later.

A Christmas Carol - the Disney version with Jim Carrey...too scary for little ones,pretty sure Walt was spinning. It was ok.
The Last Airbender - pretty much what I expected
Grown Ups - a lot better then I expected, pretty funny
Charlie St. Cloud - very depressing

I have been watching The Polar Express a lot lately
Put it in for TJ a couple weeks ago and now he asks for it all the time. It's actually grown on me quite a bit.
My DVR schedule looks pretty empty thanks to the holiday so I'm hoping I can get some movie time in - sitting on my desk right now I've got:
Scott Pilgrim
Get Him to the Greek
Robin Hood (2010)
Sherlock Holmes
Shutter Island
Plus a few others (Rocky Horror which I've seen hundreds of times so isn't a priority).
Any advice on which to start on? I had SP highest on my list so will probably watch that tomorrow night or after work if I take a half day tomorrow.

Hold up.......there's a Grudge THREE!? Think they would've learned their lesson by how awful the 2nd movie was. I admittedly liked the 1st one.
pdx: The only one of those that I saw was Shutter Island, but I'd save it til ya have some real time on your hands because it's quite confusing

Yeah, I didn't realize it for awhile myself. The first one was interesting, it had actors people actually knew. In this one, it just looked like a college student created it.
Saw this not long ago. I enjoyed it more than my dad did. Not great, not a movie I would buy, but I enjoyed it as an offbeat kinda flick.
So after watching Polar Express again 
I did get to watch Scott Pilgrim. I really liked it between the video game geekery, the cool take on putting comic book to film and the music which was definitely lived up to the hype some bestowed upon it.
It was also a surround sound feast and woke wifey up and got me yelled at. I hope I can watch again when I have the house to myself.

She began stage acting at the very young age of 12 to support her mother, brother and sister. Shortly after she began acting in silent movies and her career took off like a rocket. Pickford founded United Artists with husband Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin and D.W. Griffith.
