I saw the "New" Nightmare on Elm Street last friday. It was ok. Totally knew what to expect going in, and thats what I got.
Agreed. I don't think it "clicked" *quite* as well as the first, but if you liked the first you will like this one as well.
I thought the fight at the end was a bit short. They drug it out with the drones, but the actual fight with Whiplash was a bit *meh*.

And, can I just say... Robert Downey Jr., Sam Rockwell, and Don Cheadle all in the same movie and on screen at the same time? It's like someone peered into my nerdy character actor fantasies and made them come true. Three of my absolute favorites of the last 10+ years.

Just saw Iron Man 2 and I also agreed.
It seemed like it got a little too big at the end, and was approaching Michael Bay/Roland Emmerich territory. Didn't quite get there, but just a lot of popcorn material, more than the first. Also applies to the fight with War Machine at the party.
By the way, Scarlett did her job. So even if there's no other motivation for seeing it, she's well worth it.
Also, I'm not a Gwenyth Paltrow fan, but she just clicks with Robert Downey perfectly. Don't know what it is. She was a judge on "The Marriage Ref", which is a pretty funny show, and she looked great, but she's kind of dry toast. But in both Iron Man movies, she's done a really good job.
Not sure why so many people were dissapointed/dissatisfied with IM2... the movie is not some hardcore drama nor does it give much chance for character development. The writing could have used some work yes, but the basic premise is that a robot goes around destroying other robots. I think Downey is borderline fantastic playing Tony Stark, and overall the movie was pretty entertaining. Maybe I just didn't have high expectations going in? Pretty good acting all around methinks. Would have liked Howard instead of Cheadle but that's just personal opionion. Unless you're a doctor or some other profession that requires you to be able to spend 2 hours helping others in need, this is not a bad way to waste them.
Hackers - had never seen it and thought "what the heck". Remind me to never watch old movies that are so heavily technology based, as the graphics and dialogue are always so over the top cliche and pointless.......I can deal with the fact that it is old (something like 15 years old) but it was just so *meh* trying to be "high tech".

It's Complicated. This movie just dragged on and on and wasn't really entertaining although it had a few funny moments. I did like the parts that Steve Martin had, other than that, it was disappointing.
I haven't seen it yet but I thought the first was the best super hero movie I've seen in ages, basically the movie that everybody told me the Dark Knight was. I think many come in with giant expectations. Those are always hard to live up to.
I have been catching up with a lot of my regular shows on OnDemand instead of the DVR and they show commercials for this at almost every break. It's insane because the apparent demographic for this movie has to be people in their mid-50s up and yet its being advertised on shows for 20 and 30 somethings.

The 36 Chambers of Shaolin - I need many more martial arts movies to watch as I think my libary is thin when it comes to the genre but I really enjoyed this old one.

Funny, my wife was the one that drug me to see The Hangover.
I really liked Drag Me to Hell. It was vintage Raimi. That's one I was shocked that my wife watched (on her own).

Sex and the City 2- Let me preface this by saying that I am not a fan of the TV series, did see the first movie, but as discussing with friends remembered the plot completely backwards....anyhow, it was ok. I thought it was funnier than I remembered the first one, albeit not exactly PC humor. But for whatever it is worth my friend who is a fan of the series did not really like it though, and preferred the first movie.

My health isn't great, I don't work and I don't leave the house as much as I used to so I watch a ton of movies. I've always had a great love for film since I was a kid though. I love me some really corny 70's and 80's flicks as well as more artistic endeavors.
That said the last movie I watched was The Net (1995), revisiting it so see if it was as good as I remember it.
Movies that are early in star's careers can come off as good simply because we are not familiar with this actor/actress and they are new and exciting. The years go by and we get used to seeing them and their style etc. When that happens I like to go back to those early movies to see if the movie was as good as remembered or if it were simply the newness of the actor in question.
I re-watched The Net in order to determine whether that was the case for Sandra Bullock and this movie. I remembered the movie the be fast paced, exciting and good but the second viewing reminded me that there were many slow parts, some unbelievable plot twists and it just lost a little luster. I liked it both viewings despite that. It's worth watching for the unintentional comic relief the ancient computers and electronics provide.

Last night i watched "Heat". Superstar cast of Deniro, Pacino, Kilmer, Voight,...etc. I forgot how bad *** that movie is. Its one of those movies that captures your attention from start to finish.

I recommend watching Ninja in the Dragon's Den, if you haven't seen it yet. It's my most favorite ninja movie ever. It stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Conan Lee(who has a pretty good resemblance to a young Jacky Chan).

Heat is one of my favorites. A few years back we had a TDOS movie draft and that was one I snatched up. I caught it on TV last night as well. Long flick, but well worth it, IMO.

Took the kids to see Shrek 4 yesterday in 3D. Kids had fun, Dad was happy. Fourth and final movie in the Shrek series and "Donkey" still cracks me up.

Yeah, put Jules from Pulp Fiction and Trinity from The Matrix on the same screen, and you'll get some intensity. Might have to check that one out...
