I quite liked it. And, based on what I've seen so far, agree with it taking the Best Picture Oscar.
But the buzz that it was better than Goodfellas is just plain craziness.

Liked it but expected it to be a little more juicy with all the drama and less of all the family/sisterhood fluffy stuff. I didn't like the constant shuffling between 2006 and 2003 either.

Part of it could've been that not even Jack could negate the presence of Leo, Matt Damon and Marky Mark. All 3 of them in the same flick was overload.
The ending was a little too Reservoir Dogs to me and the scenes involving the therapist were were a little too Good Will Hunting. Not Marty's best work in the least, but I wouldn't complain about him getting an Oscar even if he directed Little Man.
I watched The Departed last night and was blown away. I loved Nicholson's role and was impressed with Leo. I think the Academy got it right this year, and I'm glad Scorsese finally walked away with the statue. I don't think any other director could have brought the story to the screen in the same way. I think about how Kevin Coster might have handled it and it scares me...

Think I'm going to have watch that at least 7 more times. I'm still trying to figure it all out, it's a strange story and it doesn't completely work, I think, but the visuals and all around creativity are incredible.

Last night watched League of Ordinary Gentlemen, this was pretty interesting. I've been hooked on bowling lately and bowling in a few leagues so I've been watching a lot of old bowling on ESPN to watch pros bowl and see what I can adapt to my game. The stuff on the 6am ESPN classic shows is right before this doc takes place so it was interesting to see the differences between the old shows and the revamping of the PBA that takes place in this flick.
Also watched Inside Man, thought it was ok. Next in the queue are American Hardcore and either Saw III or The Departed (my first 2 blu-ray rentals from Netflix... will get to hook the PS3 up to the projector for the first time and see how it looks).

I'll be seeing it on an IMAX screen tomorrow.
Figure it'll be a bimbo movie -- pretty, but stupid -- and if the script/acting/etc. have even the tiniest of redeeming qualities, it'll be a bonus. Mostly just looking for a high "ooooh" factor.

I just finished watching Network for the first time in a couple of years.
No matter how many times I've seen that film, I'm struck dumb with each new viewing at how absolutely ****ing brilliant a movie it is. And truer now than it was 30 years ago.

I watched Casino Royale this evening.
I know that the buzz has been good, and I've seen several reviews proclaiming Daniel Craig as the savior of the franchise, but... yuck. You can't be James Bond if you haven't even one iota of sex appeal, and his attempts at faking it just come across as smarmy and uncomfortable.
