what was the last movie you watched?

Saw "Waiting" a couple of nights ago. Slob film but I got some painful laughing fits. It's about these losers who work in a restaurant. The most telling script line was: "Never f... with people who handle your food." ;)

Talk To Me.

Has some definite flaws, and several attempts to get a little overly sentimental (down right sappy in some areas), but I enjoyed it. Don Cheadle was great, as usual, and I really liked Chewitel Ejiofor, as well.

Just saw Beowulf.

Hard to describe how I feel about this one.

I am, in general, a sci-fi and fantasy action fan. I also like many animated movies. For some reason I had a hard time getting into this one. Just didn't grab me for some reason. And for the life of me I can't put my finger on why.

The action scenes are not bad, but the characters are kinda hit and miss. Some look much better than others. And when things slow down for some character development, there is just something a bit, well, "off" about it. And it's irritating me that I can't figure out what it was or how to describe it.

Not a bad movie, I guess, but I think had they gone live-action it would have been better.

I must admit I absolutely love this movie. I practically grew up in both my mom and dad's restaurants and then spent several years doing consulting work in restaurants throughout the country so this is like Office Space part 2 to me.

Last night I watched New York Doll. Amazingly touching story about an aging rocker's life coming full circle.

finally saw the last bourne movie. thought it was pretty good. the fight scene between matt damon and the guy who played "desh" was awesome. i hate julia stiles for some reason. ehh.

No Country For Old Men... Only the Cohen Bros could have done Mcarthay's book justice. Not for the squemish this film is one dark look at dark people.

I've been dying to see this one since I first heard about it. Think I'll probably go tomorrow while I'm running some errands and check it out.

Watched Knocked Up last night with the wife. Was fun.

Next up are the last two Bourne movies and if I make it to the theater No Country For Old Men is tops on the list. At the rate we've been watching movies lately that will probably take me until the new year.

Right now I have Godfather, Deja Vu, and Office Space waiting on my shelf from Blockbuster. Not sure which I will watch tonight....

Just realized I watched Office Space a long time ago and didn't want to watch it again. Threw in Deja Vu and realy enjoyed it. Predictable in parts, but definitely a good flick.

I saw the Golden Compass yesterday. Somewhat disappointing. The story felt rushed and some of the jumps in the plot were a little quick. The film is 99% free of all religious paralells and you won't see the little that's there unless you look very hard. Unfortunately for the plot, this is a very bad thing. Justification for some of the actions of the characters is weak and the progression of the lead is forced too far in a short time span. There are some nifty special effects and a few decent fight scenes involving armored polar bears, but not enough substance to overcome the rushed plot. The big name fantasy actors you know (Christopher Lee) are shown very little or only in animated form (Ian McKellen). Its an interesting story and it definitely piques my curiousity, but the movie is a disappointment. I'd recommend renting it, if at all. Don't avoid the film because of the Christianity controversy, avoid it because it simply isn't that good.

Sweenty Todd: awesome movie:D
OK, can someone please tell me what the point of the movie is? I saw one trailer and frankly it looks like it has more in common with a period slasher movie than anything we would describe as having "good acting".

Saw Alvin and the Chipmunks yesterday with our son. He really enjoyed it.

I have always heard about Spinal Tap as well. Watched it last night and don't see the cult appeal.

The ad campaign is really weak for this one, in my opinion, as people not familiar with the original production wouldn't have a clue what they were in for. Which is, basically, a period slasher movie... that also happens to be a Stephen Sondheim musical. Almost more of an operetta, actually -- the spoken dialog is VERY limited.

I saw it this evening and thought it was fantastic. But, keep in mind that I'm the daughter of theater/musical theater/opera nuts and, while not a Sondheim fan in general, have loved this particular musical since I was a kid -- I fully knew what to expect. The family seated in front of us, however, was not terribly amused. It's very dark, and very musical-y (more true to the theater feel than others like Chicago and Moulin Rouge that have been at the center of the musical's mini-revival), but worth checking out if you're daring enough. Everyone sings well despite a lack of training, and the performances are very good across the board.

See, I know more now than after seeing the trailer, and that is just sad.

A musical slasher movie? Now I've heard it all! ;)

I think I'll be passing on this one. My movie $$$ and time are limited, too many other things to see. And slasher musicals don't rank high on my list.

I rarely attend a movie at a theater.....my hearing problem (particularly speech discrimination) often gets in the way of my enjoyment. So, I wait for DVD's or TV. Having said that...

I saw Robots last night and Madagascar. Robots was kinda cute and I loved Madagascar. Of course, I have seen it a dozen times now, so I must get some enjoyment from it. "I like to move it, move it." :p
