I think Petrie was refering more to outside shooting. He wants to bring in players that can spread the floor and not allow the opposition to pack down on our post players. I very much doubt Joe Smith is someone who he would go for, considering he is not unlike Kenny Thomas but with bad knees.Kings113 said:KT lost his jumpshot, isn't 6'10", doesn't bring leadership qualities. KT also doesn't play with passion like Smith does, KT gets it done, but it's nice and a big plus to have some emotion when playing. Both are athletic. Smith also fits the Ron/Bonzi/SAR trio or couple, bringing the consistent jumper. Especially if Brad Miller's gone, which isn't out of this world. Petrie also said it's a need to get some shooting back this off-season, well, Joe Smith fits that!
Post-defender? Yeah, that's what the kings NEED. And Collins' is a really good one.
What we need is someone who is a good rebounder, shot-blocker and post defender. Now that player isn't exactly easy to find. Post defender that isn't a shot blocker is not exactly of great help for us.
Player that might be available is Dan Gadzuric. He could be someone who would bring a lot of energy, is a good rebounder and a shot blocker. Whether he would play C with Brad at PF or just at PF, it wouldn't matter but thats the sort of role player we could really use. He didn't get a hell of lot of time this year but season before that he was rebounding and shot-blocking at great pace.
When you have Bonzi, SAR and Artest as your low post threats and Bibby, Martin, Miller and Garcia as your shooter, then you need that low post role player that is willing to do the dirty work.
