My gripe with Mike Jones (who am I Mike Jones, whats my name, Mike Jones, who, Mike Jones) is not his commercialization, its his god awful elementary lyrics.

I've found that most lyrics from southern rappers sound "elementary" compared to other regions. It's just the style down there. You either like it or you don't.

I USED to listen to a lot from the southern guys, when i was in highschool and i find your assesment a little off. Groups like Outkast, Goodie Mob, Youngbloodz are all from the south and their lyrics are hardly elementary.

Hey Padrino,

Just so I know I didn't forget to tell you - you're awesome.

Not only has this thread assured me that there are people that share my ecclectic tastes, but I've picked up some new music along the way courtesy of you (I'm digging Hot Hot Heat), Sanity Annex and others.

well thank you! :o

yer awesome too.

music's one of my biggest passions. play, listen, share, w/e. i also consider myself to be a bit of a rock & roll purist, but i like to think i have pretty eclectic taste within the rock genre. and well done with checkin out hot hot heat. their first album was solid, but their new album is quite good. very cure inspired, imo.

my bloody valentine - only shallow (if yer into the smashing pumpkins, you will absolutely love this early 90's alt rock/grunge band. check out the album 'loveless.' its quite amazing)

Yeah, and I always wondered how he kept all that hair under his helmut when he was the starting running back for the Minnestota Vikings.

I'm currently listening to Guster - "Careful"

You said it...I'm a huge fan of Mos and Talib.. You should definately try and see them live if you ever get the chance.. I was fortunate enough to see them both at UC Davis (on 2 seperate occasions), and they were so good.

Likewise Padrino .... I too, have picked-up on some music/groups I would've never taken the time to listen to ... not by choice, but by UNFAMILIARITY.

I'm a guitarist\bass guitarist\pianist with a mixture of the following styles/taste: R&B, Soul/Funk, Classic Rock, Jazz, Bossa Nova and Latin/Spanish/Mexican music.

Thanks for this thread !!!
