I'm a guitarist\bass guitarist\pianist with a mixture of the following styles/taste: R&B, Soul/Funk, Classic Rock, Jazz, Bossa Nova and Latin/Spanish/Mexican music.

Primus - "To Defy the Laws of Tradition"

In high school I was in a band that wanted to do a bunch of Primus covers and similar originals. A tough go for me as a bassplayer, as Les Claypool can be nearly impossible to duplicate.

Interestingly enough, I've noticed that over the last season, the Kings' PA has cranked out Primus' "Too Many Puppies" during breaks in the action. It has to be the most esoteric song blasted in an arena.

Oh, and back to our running discussion of the Cure, I found a new Top 10 crime against music. Paul Freaking Anka covers "Lovecats" on his new album.

Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" is perhaps even more egregiously crafted into a swing song. Other victims include Nirvana, Soundgarden and REM, although the funniest of the bunch is "Eye of the Tiger".

If this was done by someone like Richard Cheese as a joke, I wouldn't be bothered as much. But Anka is serious. And the results are awful beyond words.

I USED to listen to a lot from the southern guys, when i was in highschool and i find your assesment a little off. Groups like Outkast, Goodie Mob, Youngbloodz are all from the south and their lyrics are hardly elementary.

Your right, I didn't specify clearly enough. What I mean is rappers like Lil' Jon, MIke Jones, Lil' Flip etc where they constantly reapeat the same thing over and over. I totally agree with you about Outkast, Goodie Mob, and the Youngbloodz.

Lil John and Mike Jones sound like their lyrics were written by a 3rd grader. So I am in total agreement with you. Mike Jones has a song where he repeats his own name more than 40 times. It must take some skill to do that.

ATTENTION PEOPLE: Just because MTV shoves these awful excuses for music down your throats on TV, doesn't mean you have to support it and BUY IT!
