Bricklayer
Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Or as Bobby Hansen would say "Welcome to Hell!"
In any case, while it doesn't fit the mood of the fanbase after such a move, its tradition as well to welcome in the latest batch of poor saps...er...exciting new talent with a welcome thread, so here it is.
The brief rundown:
Patrick Patterson
Age: 24 (in three weeks)
6'9" 235lb
Undersized PF (although no more so than TRob). Plays with energy. Has quickly stretched his range to become a true stretch 4. Even hits threes form the corners. He's an effiecient .519 shooter with 3pt range, which gives the advanced stats guys a joy joy. On the flipside despite toughness rep, is one of the very worst rebounding PFs in the league (a great swap for one of the league's worst defensive teams), and just as apt to be overwhelmed inside on defense as TRob. An x-factor is this: was Boogie's teammate in at Kentucky. Its hard to imagine that is entirely accidental. He'll hit open spot shots created by Cousins or Reke, and maybe just maybe he was brought in to help control DeMarcus as well.
Cole Aldrich
Age: 24
6'11" 245lb
Large lumbering type center, who I distinctly recall 1 or 2 people suggesting we should have drafted instead of Cousins that year (he was taken #11).
A shotblocking/rebounder type, but like almost all the other players of that ilk Petrie acquires, its not clear if he can do it at the NBA level. Has been strictly a spot/mopup duty guy in his first three years, having played in 71games in 3 years, and averaged all of 7.1min/gm.
Toney Douglas
Age: 27 (in 3 weeks)
6'2" 185lb
I hardly need describe this guy. He is an amalgram of Marcus Thornton, Jimmer, Brooks, IT and every other undisciplined chucker we have collected. Athletic, aggressive, never bothers to take time to plot things..ooh! The basket! Shoot! Can bomb from long range, and will certainly try. Had one awful year from deep, but normally about a 38% guy and took 383 of them 3 years ago. Had a rep for putting in a good effort on defense in is early career.
Squint hard and you have an efficient stretch 4, a shotblocker/reboudner to clog the middle, and a long range bomber/defensive pest at guard who may replace another chucking guard in our followup trade. Squint hard. Squint REAL hard. I now pronounce you Petrie.
In any case, welcome guys.
