Welcome Garrett Temple!

We need a staring point guard or someone that can challenge collison for the starting point guard.

We now have 4 shooting guards, and one point guard.

Unless we are trading bmac for a point guard, we are very thin at pg.
Temple is a combo guard with significant minutes at PG. what doesn't make sense is the fact that your rants are based on the belief that the roster, today, is the roster we are going to training camp with.

Well, when we signed a role player for $8 mil per year and he is 30 years old, coming off a league minimum contract, yet have not addressed point guard.

So, yes, I would like point guard addressed before every decent point guard is signed and we have no more cap space to match a Seth curry offer.

A Seth Curry signing would be really nice right about now.

At this point, I would be very happy with a collison, curry, cousins point guard rotation.
I think another point guard is still needed. We can't go into next season with the risk of playing Seth Curry, Garret Temple or Isaiah Cousins starter minutes if Collison gets suspended or injured.

the return of the Temple. He is a solid defender but other than that, provides nothing on offense other than an occasional three point shot. I guess this means bye bye to Seth? A trade needs to happen here, stop signing free agents.

Garrett can play the point some. No idea if we intend to use him that way though.

Also do not underestimate the trade market. FA is the great NBA unblancer. Its how little bergs like Sacto get screwed, when they aren't screwing themselves. The draft is a balanced playing field, trades are a balanced playing field, mostly. FA is where the big and glamour teams get to suck up all the talent that won't give the little guys the time of day. This period is never the Kings friend. We'll have to do our winning work after its over.

It's still shocking to say this, but it's no less true, $8 million isn't 6th man of the year money anymore. I'd like to have Seth back too, but we'll just have to see since the one thing that is for sure: trades are coming.

From what I can find, this guy has never made much more than $1 million a season.

Why the hell did he paid so much by us?!
He averages 16 minutes played and less than 5 pts per game in his career!

Tell me, what was the lowest contract signed so far this FA period?

How do you know if he has no upside if you've never heard of him?

Again, might not be splashy but this is another solid pickup on a good contract.
Another thought is that if a guy has no upside, it means he is at his peak. You get what you see. There is no mystery.

He is kind of Shawn Livingston with more defense and less assist.
So practically a big backup PG who can play SG in some stretches.
This is a personnel need kind of signing since none of our roster can actually tween between PG/SG without giving up height(Seth/DC) or ball handling skills(Ben).

Alas, as of the Barnes singing, no more Seth. Everyone expecting 1 or ore trades though to get another PG.

Now I don't know about that. Livingston's role is to get into the mid post and shoot over guys with his length.
Temple is purely a system guy. You iso him and you need to expect something like this:

:D

But if we move the ball and don't expect more out of him than open shots, a few cuts and solid defense he is a great insurance guy on the roster, because he can basically play 1-3. End of bench guy, who finally got payed.

Generally speaking, 30 year old journeyman players don't have "upside".

They are what they are at this point of their career.

I don't expect temple to transform into steph curry Or even a collison level player at this point of his career.

Furthermore, talk in Washington was that they had been searching for years for a decent backup point guard for John wall, so obviously, temple was not considered the backup point guard in Washington.

I hope temple was brought in as a defensive wing player, which I'm fine with, but he should not be the primary backup point guard.

The kings need to sign or trade for another point guard.

I've seen a couple of Temple's games this last season and I was pretty impressed. I believe that he will be a solid player for the Kings.
everything ive read out of washington is that his defense is solid and underappreciated. He was backing up beal and ideally they wanted more offensive production out of him but thats not entirely the player he is.

We've been crying out for solid 3 and D guys and Temple is and guy who can facilitate the point in spells and bring added defensive intensity along with his ability to hit the 3.

In an offense currently constructed featuring Boogie and Rudy with Collison/Affalo as a 3rd option - Temple wont have any issues in terms of needing to score the ball and can play to his strengths and focus on defense which is exactly what we need

Good move which has DJs hands all over it.
