Webber coming back? (merged)

Would you guys hate the Lakers more or less if Webber signed with them? Personally, I think Webber will help, not only in the immediate but also in the long playoffs run. By the time Andrew is healthy, Webber will be a key piece to this year's run. I've always liked Webber, a shell of himself but should still be able to help.

same since I have reached the ultimate level. If I played for the Lakers - I would still hate them

Dude, you're on a KINGS board. We do NOT like the Lakers. What part of that is so hard for you to comprehend?

Oh, I comprehend it like differential equations. But playing for an NBA would be an awesome privilege and I would cherish every bit of it, give it all I've got, bond with my teammates in the name of competition. Even if I were playing against my favorite team. But that's just me. I might be a Laker fan but I'm not that stupid about the hate.

I would hate the Lakers no matter who is on the team. If Webber was a Laker, I'd have to stop loving him til he no longer wore that jersey. Then, I would love him again.

I'm not sure I can even say "Lakers" without it sounding like an epithet...or like I'm spitting something bad-tasting out.

This is a tough one for me, because I hate the Lakers more than anyone & Cwebb is one of my all time favorite Kings. I will never stop loving CWebb, but I can't root for the Lakers. And, yes, it isn't the Lakers of old, but we are still talking about Kobe & Phil Jackson here. I would love to CWebb get a ring, but not as a Laker. :(

Apparently the Pistons think Flip Murray, Primoz Brezec and Walter Herrman are all better than Chris Webber. If he's unable to hook up with some NBA team in the next "2 weeks" maybe he'll regret turning down that offer in Greece. They again, with all his millions maybe he really doesn't care that much.

Pistons not ready to add Webber

Dumars also spoke about the persistent rumors that Detroit was close to re-acquiring Detroit native Chris Webber. "I had dialogue with Chris (Monday) afternoon," Dumars said. "And what I expressed to him, is that we do not have a roster spot open. That has not changed. And if we were to have a roster spot open, we'd still have to have a conversation about (his) role, minutes ... and all those things." Adding Webber, which appears to be a longshot for now, likely would require Detroit to trade away one of its players in the final year of his current deal. The most likely candidates are Flip Murray, Primoz Brezec or Walter Herrman

This article was printed on 1-13-08, so I am guessing that today is the day we will find out where he will be playing.

Yesterday while I was at the gym they were seeing on ESPN that the Warriors were very interested in Webber, but they were contemplating how much he could offer at this point with his knee issues etc.

They were saying on KCRA this morning that he was being looked at closely by the Warriors. This seems really strange because I thought all Warriors fans hated Webber with a passion and blamed him for all of their woes.

If Webber ends up with Nelson and the Warriors, his NBA career will truly have come full circle. I think Webb's outlook on the game has changed. I don't think he wants or NEEDS to be the superstar any more. I think he just wants to go out as a contributor and possibly a mentor to some of the younger players.

I wish him well and I could still sleep at night if he ended his days with Golden State.

Great news that he's coming back. I think Detroit is still the best place for him now but off-course I won't be against his returning to SacTown!:) He will be much more valuable than mikkie moore

There's virtually NO chance Chris Webber will return to the Kings. In fact, I think there's more of a chance of him becoming King of the Universe.

hmmm interesting... Maybe now we could make a move for Biedrins or Wright.

Wright would definitely be interesting, but Webb is such a rental I doubt they move the guy they just got done giving up Jason Richardson to get. O'Brien is probably available, but I don't know if he can play or not. Biedrins I would assume just is not.

This is the part I find most interesting from the link:

Webber last week rejected the opportunity to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers after they lost Andrew Bynum to a knee injury in part, sources said, because L.A. wanted Webber to play out two 10-day contracts before it made a decision on keeping him.
