Brrrrrr!! It is currently 26 degrees, but with the wind chill (21 mph winds), it feels like 12 degrees. Tonights low is expected to be 11 degrees (sub zero with wind chill). Tomorrow's high is only 19 degrees. Think I'll stay indoors.

lol! that's awesome. how much snow do you guys get?
Awesome? It is now 11 degrees, but feels like 5 degrees below zero with the wind chill factored in. Ack!!!!! It is cold outside. :(

I do not know the average annual snowfall, although I could look it up. ;) Unlike VF, who lives in the mountains, we don't get several feet of snow all at once. I think it is rare to get 12" of snowfall in one storm. We got 5.6" the day before Thanksgiving, but it was all but gone in a couple of days because of the warm weather at that time. Now that it is cold, if we get snow, it should stay on the ground for awhile. Expecting a snowstorm tomorrow, but I have not heard the expected amount of snowfall.

I would give anything to have some rain and cold temperature's here in Southern California! It certainly doesn't feel like Christmas when it is 80 degrees outside!
I'm originally from New Jersey and while I don't miss the snow, I do miss the change of season.

I love the cold and snow, though. Then again, I have several extra pounds of "insulation" ;) .

My favorite winter was spent in Lake Tahoe waking up 2 hrs early before work so I could dig my truck out of 2 feet of snow and chain up my poor lil 4x2 truck. I guess if I had to do it year after year, it might be annoying though. :p

Windchill is the thing I've never adjusted to (being from Ca.). As much as I do the tough guy trudge-through-the-blizzard-you-can't-bother-me bit, when you throw in a hefty wind its just painful and I want to go inside and hide under a blankie. ;)

LOL....well, having grown up here in Illinois, I was used to the "wind chill factor." I absolutely did not miss it during all the years in CA. You are right, though. It is a good day to be indoors. I just wish my heating bill was not going to jump about 10 fold this month. :(

My parents live in SoCal..in the high desert and had snow at Thanksgiving time. They actually had about 6-7 inches that stayed on the ground for about 4-5 days!
I do remember when I was in high school..laying out by the pool at Christmas and sending a picture to my sister who was stationed in DC and in the middle of a blizzard! (That wasn't very nice of me.) ;)

Not very nice of you? Dang I would have felt SORRY for you and what you were missing out on -- pretty much with L.A. Girl on this one. Christmas and palm trees don't mix. Gotta love having actual seasons, a little snow, fire in the fireplace. Plenty of time to lay out in June. ;)

I'm in DC, and it is FREEZING right now.

I went to Toys-R-Us last night, and it was around 40 degrees, with some wet snow falling (and melting). When I left, the temp had dropped 30-some degrees, and there was ice on everything. My door lock was frozen and wouldn't work, and the water-seal around all of the doors and the trunk had frozen shut, so you couldn't open 'em. damn damn damn damn cold!

I am FREEZING here today..... Temperatures like this should not even exist....
It is -34C (whatever that works out to be in F.... -15F or so) ..... I envy any of you that might be enjoying sunshine right now.

At what point is it simply ridiculous to calculate how many degrees MINUS it is outside?

-15, -34, -40... My thought is once it gets to zero, further calculations are unnecessary. The main thing isn't to determine how COLD it is, but how to distance yourself from that cold into somewhere you WON'T be in danger of freezing to death.

;)

Pretty cold in the Garden State, went to bed with howling winds and ice banging against my window, woke up to frigid air...... (and the weather man Dave Price telling me that it was 10 degrees).
I do have to agree, though, that I like a little mixture in my weather, but if winter could only be ONE month out of twelve, that would be fine with me too. ;)

All I have to say is 2,100 feet on the western slope. No snow, No fog. No wind (right now). Moderate temperatures between 36 and 70. Flowers blooming. Buds coming out on the apple trees and lilacs.

It's enlightening to look at regional weather statistics sometimes. My daughter informs me that the sun only shines in Ithaca, New York about 100 days per year (I made that up, but it's pretty dreary). Even Buffalo and NYC have better weather.

I just popped in here to whine. I have been so busy (spent the entire night Tues in the ER with my sister who got 3 bags of fluids for severe dehydration after being sick with the stomach flu all day). Anyway, I digress...........

It is currently 7 degrees (and 10 below with the wind chill). Ack!! Can't avoid going out as I am now on my way to work. I'll check in on the board and catch up with things this evening.....provided I don't freeze to death first.
