This story from a local Ohio reporter has been making the rounds today on twitter. Thought I'd post it here.

I call it a weak rumor because it was only from one underwhelming source, and was just a note on the bottom of a piece about Cousins, but here it is.

Interesting things - reportedly its the KINGS offering, so even if this doesn't happen, it looks like we may be open to moving Thomas for a second 1st rounder somewhere in the middle of the draft. I know Dallas has been shopping their pick. The other notable thing that doesn't make a lot of sense is that we don't have a GM with any sort of authority .. so who's calling the shots right now? Malone?

There are a lot of Thomas lovers out there who will shoot this one down, but I like the idea depending on who we're targeting. Mid first round, if you can get me MCW, Adams, Gobert, Dieng, Withey, or some of the other euro players .. this is something I'd look at. Thomas has a great contract, and is likely as valuable now as he ever will be. I don't expect him to be the starter next season, and he'll be up for a contract soon. Loss of job + higher pay = less value. Deal him now while you can, this team has plenty of guards with similar skill sets.

The thing is, we have no GM. Our owners just took over the team on Friday. Our coach isn't officially announced until Monday. Its hard to believe any fo these rumors claiming we're running around offering guys for specific packages. Who is doing the offering?

that said, while I have expressed my doubts we're going to get a better player than Isaiah in the mid teens of this draft, with his tiny contract any deal like that would obviously be possible for a better fit/guy who fills a need.

It could be that Vivek asked Petrie to gauge the interest based on information from interviews with Malone.

Yeah, if the rumor is true, right now this is probably the only logical explanation.
