If Kahn was my only source of info, Darko would be a mix of C-Webb and Vlade with the skills of a PF in a 7'1" body. What the avocado would say about Darko would be more truthful.

To be fair, he only really used Chris as an example that he can came into his own when he got into the right situation with Sacramento. It's just that Webber went from already being a top 10 or so big, to being a top 5 big. He's talking about Milicic going from being a bench player to a spot starter. That's why it's insulting to Chris, but the principle of his point is fair to a certain extent. There are probably a ton of better examples though and he picked Chris because he was trying to poke at him for asking questions that were a little tougher than par.

Back to the game at hand: DeMarcus Cousins is absolutely phenomenal. How he slipped to 5 is beyond me. It's looking more and more like we might actually have two franchise players, one on the wing and one in the post. That's awesome...and they're 19/20 years old. How long until we have a "Will DeMarcus Cousins leave?" thread?

Webber was just fine, Kahn gave a contract to a league-wide SCRAP that has been cast off from everywhere he's been. Webb knows the ins and outs of the league, he was subtly telling Kahn that he's an idiot. For passing on D Cousins and signing Darko. He IS an idiot. Period.

As soon as Kahn got done explaining his vision for the Timberwolves, and why Jeezy didn't fit into it, my first follow-up question would have been, "And you don't think that Demarcus Cousins would have fit into that vision?"

Yeah, I found it horribly ironic that he passed up on Cousins (who has already shown amazing passing skills) while also wanting to be a team like the old glory day Kings. He apparently thinks that we didn't have two phenomenal passing bigs but only Vlade.

Yeah to be fair to Kahn, Webber was the one who started the comparison by playfully saying he wished he had a GM like Kahn when he got traded. Kahn just ran with it and was trying to make comparisons he thought Webber could relate to.

Chris seems a little extra sensitive to me. I thought it was an innocent question with no aim at disrespect. I took it as Khan was trying to learn from Chris so he can help do a better job with Darko. It is true that Chris was not performing to his potential until he came to Sacto. I guess where Chris is coming from is he's convinced that Darko has no potential so he though Khan was an i.di.ot to begin with.

It seems like he was just trying to be playful but Webber was taking him a bit too seriously. Kahn obviously likes Darko and thinks he can be a solid rotation player, and he obviously was not trying to raise him up to Webber or Vlade status, but Webber is looking from the angle of Darko as the bust we all know and love, so they seemed like very poor choices of comparison.

As an aside, when talking about bad teams, ever notice that the one thing that most continuously bad teams have in common is that they screw the draft up, and that good teams typically get value for their depends no matter where it is they are picking? Even when we were consistently in the playoffs, we got guys like Kevin Martin, Gerald Wallace, and even Francisco (he's not amazing, but not bad for a late first). Darius Songaila is still in the league. The Lakers do it, the Spurs do it, etc. Clippers? Notoriously bad at the draft. The Twolves? The same. Traded away Brandon Roy for Foye(?). Grizzlies passed on Tyreke Evans (and a bunch of others) for a guy who ended up in the D-League. You can be a small market team and build through the draft ala San Antonio, OKC, Portland, etc. Some teams just never figure it out.

Yah it's definitely going to be scary how good he can become if the coaching staff keeps him focused to what the offense needs to do.. Him and Reke will be a crazy combo..

I think you're giving David Kahn a little too much credit. I understand you're trying to be rational and playing devil's advocate here, but it's perfectly okay to acknowledge incompetence when you see it. We saw and heard it from him tonight. He "obviously" wasn't trying to raise him up to Vlade's level? So what do the words "best passing big man I've ever seen, like Vlade" mean? You're reading too much into the stupidity.

Just take the man at face value. We tried to read into it last year, giving him the benefit of the doubt, but he really just confirmed everyone's suspicions this offseason with whiff (passing on Cousins) after whiff (taking multiple SFs and trading for even more) after whiff (signing Darko to a multi-year contract) after whiff (trading Al Jefferson for peanuts after killing his value in the press by announcing his intentions to trade him to the world). Kahn is an idiot. Just feel bad for the good people of Minnesota and let it be.

Webber isn't the only one on NBATV to take Kahn to task publicly. Rick Kamla, host of several shows on the network and a self-admitted Wolves fan, called him out after this year's draft, and it was just as funny to watch that interview as the one we were treated to today. It's not an anomaly, and it's not something that only a select few are able to see. It's apparent that people in this man's industry (Kenny Smith also calling him out on occasion) see the awful job he's doing up there.

I would have to disagree with you. I heard the whole thing real time, (not saying you didn't), but when I heard it, it just seemed totally ridiculous that he dared to compare Darko to Vlade as a passer. Darko is a bust who may be able to throw a bounce pass (ok he still might work out). Vlade was perhaps the greatest passing big man of all time. It was an insult to Vlade's game, even if Kahn was to oblivious to realize it. You just can't have that go unaddressed on TV. Of course Kahn is grasping at straws for examples of big men with passing skills who flourished when they found the right team, but the comparison to Webber, to his face no less was equally insulting, no matter Kahn's level of awareness of it. Weber was rookie of the friggin year and led his team back to the playoffs. INSULT. You gotta show more respect than that... trying to fabricate on national TV how there is a comparison between Webb and the latest widely criticized wacko signing you just made.

Donte looks much more mature on the court. I've predicted that this would be his break out year and I'm sticking to it. When Cousins gets double teamed, Donte will put some hurt on the opposing D. They seem to play well together. We can have tripple threat with Cousins, Donte, and Evans on offense.
