We are +38. The Raptors are +47, so if they win tomorrow, they definitely move ahead of us. The Pistons are +33, so if they win by 6 they move ahead. The Thunder are +28, so if they win by 11 they move ahead. Presumably none of them will be silly enough to throw away points at the end of the game like we did. We had a 35 point lead in the fourth quarter and let it drop to 18 at the end.
Still, any way you cut it we're in pretty dire position if we don't beat Cleveland. There will be at least one undefeated team, and as many as seven, but right now it's looking most likely that it will be 3-5 undefeated teams. So most likely at 3-1 we would be out, or optimistically if there are only 3 undefeated teams we'd have to have the best differential - our differential would be +37 or worse.
Anyway, I suppose we'll have a much clearer view of things after tomorrow.
Nique is pretty much living up to his scouting report. Not quick enough to stick in front of fast players but great on team defense and you can't really bully him in the post. Offensive game looks about as polished as any veteran's. Only knock on him so far has been his decision making and passing accuracy at times. Other than that, the Kings have a real players on their hands.
DC spent the first 5 minutes playing as game 1 DC and then turned it up and went game 2 DC for the rest of the game. I wonder if Perry doesn't like him because he looks lazy and mildly disinterested out there? Almost like he's only attempting to put in the exact amount of energy that is required to get by but I think it's just his body language because when he's on, he's extremely effective. I'd hate to see him traded for anything other than a no brainer package and I'd hate to see his minutes eaten up by veterans who are not good enough to get us to the playoffs.
DPOG has to go to IC. It sucks that his scoring wasn't there tonight but his defense was incredible. I only noticed one defensive lapse from him all game long. He was dialed in and had the best +/- for a reason.
I'm not sold on Isaac Jones being an NBA player yet. He has some solid skills but I think he's the kind of guy you keep around and see what he can do in 2 years. He didn't get started playing ball until late and while he's a well above average G league player, he still needs to develop the skills that'll keep himself around in the NBA long term.
Cardwell might be one of the best defensive players and one of the worst offensive players I've ever seen in SL. I'm pretty sure he got a seasons worth of deflections on one defensive possession alone. If he could just get himself to Alex Len territory on offense (bad but playable), he could carve out a career as a backup 5.
Also Perry might wind up being a good GM but damn if he's not one of the last people I'd ever want to have a beer with. Reminds me of Lars Ulrich where he thinks everything he's saying is deep and profound.
Yeah, I think Cardwell could probably step on the floor tomorrow and be a NBA starting caliber C on defense. But my god, he might be the worst offensive player I've ever seen.
Still, if he just learns how to be a lob threat/clean up the offensive glass. That's enough for how good his defense can be.
Maybe he should work on scoring from 5 feet out first. He shouldn't be out on the perimeter on offense anyways. If I was him I’d be shooting 500 threes a day just to try to add something to his bag. If he could shoot 32 percent from 3 he could probably carve out a long career as a third big.
