Or, we'd be seeing less of JT and more of Brockman and Battle at the PF, and Donte & Omri at the SF. I just don't like seeing players play out of position. After all isn't summer league for undrafted players and new signees to show what they can do. I really don't need to see our starting Center & PF playing. I wonder how many teams actually have their starters playing in summer league besides the Kings.

Actually quite a few. And if Hawes had showed up, then Thompson would be playing at his normal position. However he's probably going to be asked to play some center at times during the season, so a little work at it in summer league won't hurt him.

I did go back and rewatch both of the summer league games to see what I might have missed and focused on Thompson in both games. The other team in both games did a good job of having their opposing player pull Thompson away from the basket, which I think hurt his rebounding a bit. The times when he had perfect position under the basket, the other team made the basket, so there wasn't a rebound to get. Anyway, it didn't look like a lack of effort on his part, just good strategy by the other team and just bad luck at times.

As an aside, this kid Landry has impressed me a little bit. He seems to have a decent outside shot, and I like the way he battles for rebounds. I guess what I'm saying is that he seems to impact the game for the small amount of time he's on the floor.

Thompson might have to play center sometimes when Hawes goes out. Learning center in the offseason is a good thing, not a bad thing. It's not like it's going to ruin his career..

From what I've seen so far, JT have gotten bulked up quite a bit and have improved his mid-range jumper.

He tried to bully his way into the basket numerous of times but he mostly shoots the mid-range when given the chance.

Gordon, Lopez and Bayless are all playing Summer League this year. Check the rosters on the Summer League pages. Unless, they dropped out like Spencer last minute - they're all going to play.
So, were not the only ones with starters from last year reporting to Summer League.
Gordon & Lopez were starters most of the season. Randolf & Bayless played in over 50 games, but Randolf only started 22 and Bayless didn't start any.

I guess my point is most teams don't send their starters to summer league. And, I would have perferred that we didn't send JT or Hawes. And, I would have liked to see us play more Center prospects.

I'm not against JT learning low post moves. He has all summer and the preseason to work on them. I just believe that Summer League is more about see undrafted players who can fill your vacant roster spots. (like backup Center & backup PF). And, for seeing last yrs rookies, who weren't able to break into the rotation last year.

This is the FA signing period. And, we need to know where we stand with the players on the roster but not getting major PT, and with our new draft picks. Unless JT & Spencer need to prove themselves to perserve their place in the rotation, they don't need to be here.

Westbrook is in SL and he started most of last season. It really isn't unusual to send 2nd year players even if they got significant time as rookies, but the list slims way down when you're talking about 3rd year players.

We are in agreement.

I pointed those guys out because originally you said that they weren't even playing this summer.

If we are talking about guys who started only most of last season, then JT would fit into that category as well, yeah?
