Tyreke Evans detained by CHP this evening for reckless driving

Even though it was legal for me to do so in Nevada, it was still a stupid thing for me to do. I simply wasn't a good enough driver to be going that fast. When I said it was stupid of Tyreke and there are no excuses, I meant the same thing about myself for doing what I did. It was hardly my only youthful, stupid mistake.
Wow, it was legal to go 110 mph? I want to live there.

I admit that I was pissed when I initially found out about this. But then I read it again and it said that drugs or alcohol WEREN'T involved. Was it illegal what Evans did? Yes. Am I concerned even the slightest bit? Nope.

Hey, I'm old. ;) There was no speed limit outside of city limits in Nevada back then. Not true anymore. It was still dumb for me to actually drive that fast. :o

I remember driving through Nevada on my way to Idaho on hunting trips, and having to go over 90 just to pass 16 wheelers.

I love how this thread has morphed into reminiscing about our youth bygone days of "This one time, I got my ............ up to ...."

Which is exactly where this thread should be! Damn Tyreke you were cruisin! But don't do that **** again!

In Tyreke's defense, he did have a reason, he had to go sign autographs for kids. He was probably running a little late. I really don't think he would have done it if he didn't have a reason.

According to the CHP Evans may have been racing another vehicle which has been identified as possibly a Dodge Charger. Since matter is still under investigation (aireal, ground video, etc.) he could face more charges besides speeding and recklace driving. A few others here may want to give him an excuse but so far at least he has not tried to weasel - virtually calling himself guilty and apologizing.

I have some considerable doubts about the "he may have been racing" line. Simply because if Tyreke was going up to 130mph then you damn well would know if there was another car racing him at those kind of speeds. Not like there is any way you could miss a second car humming along at 120 or whatever. Their statement that there was a second car traveling above the speed limit is obviously pretty comical, given that 90% of all freeway traffic is over the speed limit. And even if the other car was going stupidly fast, 90 or 95 or whatever, that's still not even remotely in the range of 130 and racing. Just hard to see how there would be any doubt at those kinds of speeds, and if there was another 130mph speed demon, with an aerial unit having eyes on them, how it could have gotten away.

The first media reports were that Kings #13 ROY was clocked at 100mph, then in excess of 100mph, and finally at 130mph. The so far mysterious second car racing him was supposedly picked up on radar (like Tyreke) on I-80 headed west out of Roseville. Apparently, at or near Antelope truck scales the second "racing" car zoomed on out towards Davis where it was lost to aireal tracking and CHP ground units. Meanwhile, Tyreke had slowed to his exit point not far from the truck scales but was being closely pursed by a host of ground units. At least 5 cop cars eventually pulled him over in front of the park where he was to sign autographs and play a little hoop with kids. As far as "other charges," I have heard that he may be facing at least one - and this is pretty serious - felony evasion - as he was followed from his exit point off freeway to the park and did not stop immediately as required by law.

Hopefully, he gets beyond all of this soon and as many have said, including him - chalking it up as a big lesson at age 20.

Better he make the mistake now than when we're really in the playoff hunt and he's garnered a lot more national media attention

But he was drunk right?? ..no? Then he must have been high? ...no?? ..Then he must have been with a prostitute?? ..no???

Wait...so this is just about a 20 year old speeding on a freeway in his new car? During a holiday weekend night? This should be filed under 'not a big deal'.
