Galaga [Arcade]

I needed some more old school cred. Where to even start? One of the great old arcade games (this version complete with a hit/miss ratio and bonus levels).

Life was so much simpler back then.

Oh, you didn't.......

Yes you did.

This was one of the couple I was debating picking in my last round and just hoped it would fall to me the next time, it was my next pick. Crap.

For my next pick:

Galaxians (1979) - (Arcarde)

Galaxians is the prequel to Galaga, I love galaga too but I wasted more of my youth playing this game.:D I remember cutting class just to go and hang out with my friends playing this game.

Pick #12. Time to pick up an old favorite, and another low hanging fruit pick. I need some older games to bring some character to my island, and what could be better than this old favorite. I also needed to compete with Venom's supremacy of this genre.

Pick #12: Metroid (NES) 1987

Pick #12: Metroid (NES) 1987

I've never played a single Metroid game and even I was wondering why that classic was going unpicked.

Looks like a cross between Zelda and Mega Man.

And Samus Aran is hot ...

Zut alors! I should have picked her in the babe draft ;)

Space Invaders? Galaga? Galaxians? Really? If you are going to pick a 1980's arcade classic shooter, start by picking the best one available... and that one is Tempest (1981) for the Arcade

This was and is the king of all vecter-style and shooter games; just a beautiful piece of arcade action. Want rapid fire shooting? Got it. Want tons of bad guys? Check! Want awesome vecter display? It is all there. When you feel like shooting, this is the game to play.

Another good selection. Nice. I have a feeling a few of my choices are not going to make it back to me......

An unofficial ruling of mine, I was thinking 16 picks (a full round) after each time-out and it will be forfeited.

I think the question is, he keeps timing out, is there a penalty imposed eventually for repeated time outs in drafts?

I would think not, just have to wait out the 24 hrs and move on, but it isn't my draft. Wouldn't want to be changing rules mid-stream, now would we? ;)

Ah come on people, cut a little slack. I have been on top of all of these drafts for months, can't I have one off week? Things have been a tad busy. I'll be shaping back up soon.

I feel as if I should take my arcade pick here because it seems as if arcades are in more danger than normal in this part of the draft. However, I'm guessing my can last so I'll take the risk.

In its stead I will take a game that would be perfect as an arcade game, and really was quite different and new when it came out but has yet spawned many knock-offs and several (inferior) sequels.

WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!
(2003) - Gameboy Advance

I remember buying this game a few weeks after it came out after hearing so much good word of mouth. Seriously, its a game where you just play ridiculously themed 5 second mini-games that come at you at a faster and faster and zanier and zanier rate at every second. It's pure chaotic bliss and absolutely hilarious. Plus, enough replay value to last me a lifetime.

props to the first madden chosen.

Love the Rampage Arcade right next to the NFL Blitz unit in the pic. LOL.

Unfortunate. I was eventually going to circle back around to that one as my RTS. In my opinion you only really need 1 RTS. They have all had nearly identical mechanics since the beginning. And unlike shooters (which are the same way) any RTS with a random map generator shouwld give you nearly infinite entertainment. Oh well.

Mega Man - NES - 1987 (corrected the date.. I put 97 when it was 87.. Dang I am old! )

This is the first installment. This was the first game I ever bought for the NES (besides the two that came with my system 'duck hunt and Mario Brothers')

Loved this game, and still play it on my vintage NES system :D

I have to stay true to my roots:

Virtua Fighter 3: Team Battle (1997) - Dreamcast

At one point in time, SEGA was ahead of the pack. What ever happened?
