Pick #7 Time, and I don't have a FPS yet...I'm due. This game is great for a single player, but the multiplayer leaves something to be desired. Perfect for a desert island! Since I'll already be smiting demons with Diablo II, now I can also kill some mutant aliens with

Pick #7 Quake IV: Collectors Edition (PC) 2005.

Includes: Quake II, with expansions, and Quake IV, as well as promotional material and cinematics.

I do not think you can take Quake 2 and Quake 4 even if Quake 2 is in the package as they are both standalone games.

Agreed - I was thinking of taking an Unreal pack that had both Unreal and UT, I think, but as two originally separate games in one retail box I passed on that package. Same thing with the Blizzard chests/packs for Diablo, etc., with multiple games in one box.

Now there may be some games, like Tron for the arcade, that had multiple games in them from the start not available separately, that are perfectly OK to choose.

In fact, there is one selection I am thinking about taking that has multiple games in one package but I think I can only select one game from the box, especially since they are now available individually even though they were not upon release.

Maybe we need a ruling here?

Edit - I think that as long as the only game listed in the voting is Quake IV I don't think it really matters....

But perhaps he wouldn't have taken Quake IV by itself. I can assume that he of course would have, but I'll wait for him to respond before making any changes

I'll take Quake 4 then, seeing as that is the featured game of the pack, and my initial reason for the pick. I believe this will hold its own against other FPS.

Heard good things about it so far and nice to see that some think so highly of it.
Some think very highly of it, ranked second all time. I don't like how there are duplicates on that all time list though. Think all the games on the link have been taken, but a mod can remove it if necessary.

It was actually 1st all time for a few weeks after release. It is literally one of the best games ever made and playing it for 5 minutes will let you know that.

When I got it, I was worried going in because of the giant reviews it had got and that it would fail my expectations. It did not and I enjoyed it much more than any Mario platformer before it. Just so unique.

I have a sinking suspicion Warhawk will not be too pleased with my next pick:

Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Combat (with Ghost Bear Legacy Expansion Pack) - 1995 - PC

I had considered selecting 1997's "The Titanium Trilogy" but that would have included a yet to be selected stand-alone sequel which I believe to be against the rules. If not, then I will humbly request to upgrade. (the differencees in terrain and music are worth the added missions and mechs)

As it is, Mechwarrior 2 vividly brought to life the cult Battletech universe combining revolutionary game-play and graphics with detailed strategy anda compelling storyline.

As has become an unofficial and loose theme for my draft list, customization is the key to success, and the ability to customize each mech for the missions and campagins offers a different experience every time long after I've mastered the game itself.

Anytime I'm feeling a little down on my island, I think I'll go blow some stuff up with my huge friggin' Battlemech.

You SUCK! That was my next choice. ARGH! I knew I should have taken it the last round....

Yes, the graphics were not that great, but being able to hop into a mech and blast guys to bits rocked.

Having a GIANT BATTLE MECH as your avatar was a bit of a clue for me :D

I should also add "revolutionary graphics for the time" especially considering the first installment. Thanks again Prime Rule

Yeah, I know. :o I actually have that on there for the history of the "Warhawk" name than anything else. ;) MW2 wasn't my "favorite game ever", but it is when I picked up that handle and it stuck. The game was lots of fun and I really liked that mech - very useful for me.

And yes, at the time it was a great looking game!

Rome: Total War [PC]

Everything you could want with a RTS - a stupid amount of troops, stunning gameplay with sounds to match, and a gargantuan campaign.

Excellent game, and possibly one of my next two picks. Also somethign that Slim should play if he does not. ;)

However, please don't slime it with the RTS label. there is very little time for strategy in an RTS and the Total War series is all about it. Even the battles are 90% preparation and only 10% actual clickfests.

Well technically its an RTS. I agree, however, that its not a true "command your troops with reckless abandon" type RTS.

Had alot fun with this game. I was not sure which one I would ultimately pick Rogue Spear or the original. Since this game created the tactical shooter genre it was a no brainer.

That stings a little... I have always dug this game...

Tick, tock, tick, tock ....

Sigh

Hard to believe this draft started the same time as the I-Pod draft and we're 4 rounds behind them.

Yeah, this thing is dragging on. The classic ride draft is soon gonna pass this one as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see the rock band draft finish ahead of this one

Look, I told you what had to be done -- even the Hot Babes draft was beginning to drag a bit until I unleashed my he-woman beauty threat on people.

Nice guys finish last sackings. You have to step up and threaten consequences. ;)

Speaking of, I think it's time to let her out of the cage again. That's moving slower than this one lately

We are really falling behind in this draft, sooo...for anybody who takes longer than 12 hours to pick, you may only pick from the following titles:

604070-Shaq-Fu-014633072846.jpg

Etvideogamecover.jpg

As well as Elf Bowling for the DS, Daikatana, and Big Rigs for PC. That oughta speed things up

Hey, we had at least 3-4 picks yesterday...just running into kingsfan916's apparent lack of bookmarkign this site again. ;)

You just have to know your personnel sackings -- its part of being a good commissioner.

Take this Jespher guy for instance. On the surface seems like a nice solid player and contributor around the site. Been tardy on a few picks in different drafts, but nothing serious. But underneath you should be able to sense the dark twisted menace of a criminal mastermind out to sabotage your draft by killing its rhythm. As commissioner you cannot allow such things.

Accordingly you need to blow up his car.

Just as a warning. :D
