Forest Dweller Productions had almost given up casting the role of Stephanie Plum's slightly paranoid, definitely neurotic mother who has to deal with a bounty hunting daughter, a mother who attends funerals for the entertainment (and the food) and assorted other family members who seem to have magnets for trouble attached to their backsides.

Luckily, one of Hollywood's most versatile actresses ended up being available and accepted this small but critical role.

We welcome Meryl Streep to our cast...

Okay, now that we are approaching the end of the selections, I wanted to broach the upcoming descriptions. How much time are people going to need? I have pondered a number of different schemes after Monty makes her 15th pick including:

1) doubling the time to pick from 24 hrs to 48 hrs; or
2) take a 4 or 5 day break here for everybody to put something together and then resume the draft under the normal 24 hour rules form then on

or..

Do not want to overrush people. But also do not want to have this drag out until November. What do you all think?

Personally, I am hoping to keep it short, sweet and wide open in my final description and allow everyone to make up their mind for themselves of how exactly would it hang together. So, time should not be an issue for me whether it is a 2 day break or a longer one. However, my off-the-grid vacation is coming up so I'd appreciate a break unless we wrap-up the whole thing before next weekend.

Conrad L. Hall - Cinematographer

This three-time Oscar winner shot classic Westerns such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Professionals, one of my film's forebears. He shot other classics such as Cool Hand Luke, In Cold Blood, and Marathon Man, as well as more modern fare like American Beauty and Road to Perdition.

Well let me make my 15th pick so we can move along...I'm still settling roles etc and revamping my writeup accordingly so 48 hrs won't be a bad thing in my book. But will defer to the almighty poohbah's decree.

But my final piece is a necessity

Enzo - Supporting...um, Actor (Asta)

You know him, you love him as "Eddie" from Frazier and the epic drama "My Dog Skip" where he and his dad shared the role. Enzo takes the role of Asta - the loyal companion to the Charles' and fellow investigator

Didn't want to drag this out any longer, so my make-up pick is

Jason Statham -- and, while I do actually like him as an actor, I really have no use for him in this film. So, blatantly stealing Slim's idea here and making him a special assistant to the executive producer. He can fetch my coffee, et cetera.

Lots, and lots of et cetera.

I'm completely flexible, for the record. Since I included more than I'd intended during the tagline round, I'm likely not going to have much more to post than what I have already.

One of the benefits of my over-the-top genre, really -- the idea of go-go dancers from hell either grabs your attention from the start, or it's never going to.

No, Monty did not time out -- we never started on the last round.

But seeing as there did not seem to be any real sentiment to screw with the pacing of it, we'll just start it up now, normal 24 hour period, and wrap this thing up.

PM to Monty's sent.

Well, I already said that I thought people should post as they're ready, but if it's going to stay sequential there's no reason to add a lot of time across the board when several people are probably ready to go. I'm going to be a little longer, so when Monty's done, VF should feel free to go with hers.

I've got mine ready. The way my luck is going, my turn will probably come up during the one day when I'm away from the computer almost all day.

Murder by the Numbers - PG13 (Violence, language, some adult situations)

Stephanie Plum (Sandra Bullock) is a Jersey girl. When she loses her latest job, she's left with a broke-down car, too many bills and facing a very bleak existence, especially if she has to move back home with Mom (Meryl Streep), Dad (never seen on screen) and Grandma (Estelle Getty).

Short on opportunity, Stephanie has one ace up her sleeve. She knows a secret or two about good ol' cousin Vinnie (Danny DeVito) he certainly wouldn't want the family to know. Armed with the knowledge she has him over a barrel, Stephanie heads down to his place a business - a bail bond agency - and asks/tells him she needs a job. Reluctant at first, Vinnie soon realizes he has little choice. He gives her a couple of bail forfeiture cases to track down, not having any idea of the can of worms he's opened up.

Ranger (Antonio Banderas) is a former black ops specialist who does the real tough bounty cases. He and Stephanie have a chemistry that creates sparks whenever they're in the same room. He keeps an eye out for her and more than once has come in at just the right moment to save her from disaster.

Stephanie's first tough case involves former vice cop Joe Morelli (Brad Pitt) who jumped bail on a murder charge. Stephanie has a long history with Morelli - he was the suave BMOC in high school who took Stephanie's virginity and then wrote all the sordid details on the bathroom wall of the local pizzeria. That hasn't stopped Stephanie and Morelli from hooking up on occasion, and she doesn't think he's capable of murder. She wants to find him both for the bounty and to help him clear his name.

While Stephanie is trying to track Morelli down, her Grandma Mazur comes to her with another problem. Mazur has a hobby - she goes to funerals and neighborhood wakes. For a while now, the funerals have been a little off, she tells Stephanie. None of them are open caskets and that's just not right. People in the neighborhood have a RIGHT to see their dear departed friends one last time and she wants Stephanie to check out the new - and positively creepy - undertaker (Peter Lorre) in town.

Stephanie has her hands full, both with trying to do a credible job as bounty hunter, and with her self-appointed assistant Lula (Queen Latifah). Lula was a hooker, until she decided it was too dangerous. Vinnie had given her a job in his office but when Stephanie came along, Lula realized it might be a lot more interesting to do field work. Lula drives a bright red Firebird, carries a loaded 9mm Glock in her purse and wants more than anything else to find a reason to use it. Connie (Conchetta Ferrell) also works in the office, but only part time. She's the one link Stephanie can depend on, the one who lets her know what's going on even when Vinnie thinks he's keeping things quiet. Connie knows where all the bodies are buried and no secret in Jersey is safe from her eventually finding it out.

Ranger, who has a business that encompasses a lot of different activities - most of which are top secret - depends on Tank (Vin Diesel), his trusted friend and assistant, to keep things running when he's out of town. He also entrusts Tank with making sure Stephanie hasn't gotten in too far over her head in trying to track down Morelli.

Out of nowhere comes Joyce Barnhardt (Eliza Dishku), the "other woman." Joyce and Stephanie have known and hated each other since high school. She was responsible for Stephanie's marriage breaking up after she caught her husband and Joyce "doing the deed" on their kitchen table. Joyce has almost as much dirt on Vinnie as Stephanie, and has also entered the field of bounty hunting, possibly for the money but possibly to keep Stephanie from finding out the truth. She seems to be paying very close attention to Stephanie but asking way too many questions about Morelli and Ranger.

Did Morelli commit the murder? Is there something sinister going on at the funeral parlor? Will Stephanie solve the crimes or make things worse? And what is Joyce up to?

This is a crime drama with suspense, comedic overtones and fast-paced action that will entertain from start to finish. It's based on the books of Janet Evanovich, who has done an incredible job of combining the plots of a couple of her novels into a cohesive screenplay by adding a few new twists.

Music by Henry Mancini sets the tone without being a distraction and Wilder's direction keeps the film on pace with the perfect blend of elements.

Since we're going to be "opening in theatres" as soon as we complete Round 16, I don't want to give away the ending. You know, like knowing Bruce Willis is dead when you start to watch The Sixth Sense?

;)

So, lemme just make sure I have this right: Round 16 is for the description, and before voting, we'll be releasing more details?

Or is Round 16 the end, and it's up to your discretion to determine how much information you want to release?

I was planning on giving full disclosure, more of a synopsis than a review, which would give away the ending, show all the plot twists, the big reveal, everything, rather than just a preview of what the movie is about. Am I missing the point?

Round 16 is the final round. Check the OP for "The Flourish"... Then the voting is going to begin in a different format than the usual playoff matchups. It's going to be about garnering $$$ at the box office. I'm not sure Brick has finalized all the details but it's going to be more like how films actually do in "real" life.

I'm sure Brick can fill in the details...

I wouldn't mind a final "post-opening" final round - where things like plot twists and the ending are finally made public.

My thought was, in writing my Round 16 entry, to pique the curiosity of the "viewer" enough so they'd spend some of their box office bucks to see my film the first week.

Okay, so R16 is the trailer, possibly a critic's review, designed to get people to go see your movie (based on Brick's rules, I'm assuming that we can disclose however much we choose). The voting is basically going to say which movies the voters would spend the most money going to see.

Hmmm.. either way would influence my decision. This is something I for sure need to know before I post mine.

FYI, after Brick - Supes you can go. Mine is in the works but not ready to be posted just yet.

I hope people aren't expecting every twist and resolution to be spelled out. I'm thinking of it more like a detailed trailer that would give the potential audience a very good idea of the premise, characters, style, and the types of things that will be happening in it, but not so much recreate the entire experience of going to see it. I thought we were constructing a movie, not holding a creative writing contest. There's got to be something left to the reader's imagination. Structuring a screenplay is hard work; I'm not going to work out every beat of a story unless I'm getting paid by somebody. :p

After thinking about it more, and working over a couple ideas, I came to the same conclusion as you, Contract Killer (don't you miss the good ol' days, man?). I'm waiting for Brick to take his turn or time out, because I'm ready to post mine.

I guess he's gonna take every second of his draft slot, though... frickin' lawyers...

:p
