I don't know about that messy version, but the Shangri-Las fall squarely within my mother's music, so I know that song well.
 
The Shangri-Las have always been my favorite of the girl groups, but I would have gone with a different song for this draft.
 
As far as the version goes, that's the only YouTube I could find. As far as the song, different strokes for different folks.

All I could find was this live version, which is great. I caught them 2 weeks before this was filmed at their first reunion gig before they went off on this tour:

This is my favorite Cats tune among their many greats and probably the one that got me hooked the instant I heard it. Pretty much rockin from start to finish, nice solo devoid of excessive wankery, tale of skins and greasers in a brawl for the ages. Great tune.
 
Good Oasis song, but still not the one I would take. I actually had considered taking mine now, but I can't seem to pick a band that someone else just took...so it will have to wait.

I've always been a fan of The Cranberries, but the first song I heard from them remains my favorite. A beautiful song featuring Dolores O'Riordan's unique voice...it always conjures up great memories.
 
SO many ways to go here. I have a feeling maybe I'm relying too much on classics, but I gotta get one song from this group. I could really take any song of this album....but I'll take the one its named after.

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

A relentless classic that's been covered so many times over the years its hard to go long listening to rock radio without hearing it in some form. I actually had heard of this song years before I ever listened to Pink Floyd. Kingsfans is really the last place, I've found, for Pink Floyd love, but I'm guessing many of you can even like this one :P

I used to love the original when I was young, but not sure I'm really buying into this remake so much. Mostly because she's only got a fraction of the voice, and slapping on a standrad dance beat doesn't make up for it.

Think I've heard another dance version of the song made as well?
 
My next choice is from another of my favorite bands. They have many hits and this is one of the best.

Hey Baby - Stephen Marley Feat. Most Def - Mind Control

This is the only music from any of Bob's offspring that compares to the music that he put out. Mind Control won the 2008 Grammy for Best Reggae Album. The title track is very reminicent of his father and I almost picked it. This track is a bit more modern sounding and I actually heard it played at Arco last year at Open Practice. Most Def is great as well, you may have heard him on Dave Chappel's Show as he was on there a lot.

Dark and heavy, yet still catchy as hell, this is probably my favorite song from one of my favorite current bands. I was originally going to pair it with my Slither pick for a modern metal swing until Dylan intruded.

Great song, but the praise from Dylan really has to be taken with a grain of salt. He's said that Highway 61 is the only album by him he himself would listen to, and scoffed when he heard one of his songs was named the "Greatest Rock and Roll song ever" replying "Yeah, but what will it be next week?"' Sort of a cynical view, but true in a way.

Yeah I know, but this actually is viewed as a better song. It's ranked higher on the RS's Top 500 list (Jimi's version was ranked in the 40's I think, I didn't even look to see if Bob's version was on the list at all)

Yeah definitely. There's several alt/cover versions of Dylan songs that are better than his own version. Of course, I won't mention them.

On this list of 3000 best songs ever some company does (forgot the name, but saved the list. they use some formula from critical reviews/reception to make the giant list) Jimi's version is #81 out of 3000, Dylan's is #1507
